Whenever I hear Batio, I like to hope that one day he and other players like him (Cooley, Loomis, etc) will one day concentrate as much on putting what they have to say on guitar into a legible format much like what composers did before the modern era, like Beethoven, Paganini, and so on. Virtuosity was important then but it was more of a flavoring and did not dominate the whole dish, or become overbearing, so to speak. I wish he did more tasteful stuff like his "no boundaries" song.

Technically he's a better guitarist, but he lacks the feel that Kirk has. Well thought out solos are WAY better than guitar wankfests in my opinion. What Metallica lacks in skill (compared to MAB) is more than made up for in pure songwriting ability.

It's funny cause I only just heard of this song 5 mins ago. No one knows this exists. Wonder why that is. This guy is a great guitar player but only guitarists can appreciate it. Metallica had a sound in the Black album that even the average Joe could appreciate. Metallica and Kirk>Batio. When you watch a movie, do you want it to be a movie that only a director can appreciate? When you eat a meal, do you want it to taste so that only a chef can appreciate it? Nuff said.

Love Batio but not a fan of this cover.. The thing that made Wherever I May Roam such a good Metallica song was it's simplicity, heaviness and non-OTT solo's.. All MAB has done is wanked all over it lol

Actually, months ago I was checking Batio's stuff. He does play with feeling but he doesn't show it that much because he is trying to play precise like he always does. You do need a lot of concentration for that.
