Actually, my parents played classical when I was just a kid to put me to sleep, but I never really started listening to it much until I started in high school when I would listen to a classical station on my stereo for studying. Now, I'd say classical and baroque comprise 90% of what I listen to today

Overtures are a type of orchestral introduction played at the beginning of an opera, so they are equally part of the show. (Come to think of it, many films start the music before the story begins!)
