@CanadaPisces you're right, Heifetz is a superb violinists! I'd favorited this beautiful video in my channel for a certain time, thank you for sharing!
This is the first time I hear Josef H., and am saddened by his early passing.
The melancholy and sensitivity are unsurpassable in this young soul; his music left a poignant trace of the emotional elements wrapped in the early human condition - an inescapable sense of tragedy in any generation. If life is worth living till today, it should be the enlightenment from darkness and suffering.
Let those passing be our new strength to do and serve a better world. Thank you for this video.
Hmm... I've just posted a reply but I dont see it so I try again. You are so right, Oelte. I dont believe that Hassid was ill. Never! An asylum itself can drive any sane person to an insane one!
When someone is first given electric shock then insulin shock and then lobotomized then YES they have a mental condition. It's called a damaged brain from "treatment." Before this I know Josef was nothing but an extremely sensitive boy who wasn't allowed to love the girl he had fallen for because she wasn't Jewish. Expressing his sadness about that was obviously not allowed nor seen as a form of therapy by the people who abused him in what they called "treatment."
Hassid - one of the great tragedies in the history of music. If he had lived and if his mental condition could have been treated perhaps he'd still be playing today, just as Ida Haendel does from time to time.
Well.... Heifetz is one of my favorite violinists, I love him too but, in my opinion, Heifetz wasnt successful in some certain kinda music... such as Bach's. Dont u see my videos arent posted to response to any others? I respect them all. Each of violinists has his or her own place in my heart, no matter where they come from or what skin color they have. I brought Hassid's here because at time I posted these videos, there werent any of Hassid's.
@KyotoMelody I am unable to extricate Hassid's interpretation with his own sad story... so in the sense that his wist is conveyed by more than just his playing, but rather his story also (for us listeners) Hassid's version has an edge over Heifetz's for me. I understand this can't be a universal truth, but I confess that I am a victim of the correlation between Hassid's life and his interpretation. Heifetz's version is equally as beautiful, however, in and of itself.
@eddielu620 I had no idea who Hassid was when I listened his recordings for the first time. I used to admire Heifetz so much that I let his shadow cover all other great violinists such as, Oistrakh, Kogan etc... And then I "had to" hear Hassid's Humoresque. I got thrilled listening to it. I asked the friend who made me hear it, "This is not Heifetz's who is the violinist?" "It's Hassid!" "Who is Hassid? His sounds better than Heifetz's!" "I couldn't agree with you more!" my friend replied.
Well this is most pretty KM, an actual Swan Lake along with an ornithologist's selection and great Josef Hassid music, again. Pianist Gerald Moore was considered an elite accompaniest of the last 75 years. He wrote a book on it.

Thank you KyotoMelody for posting the magical, heart-wrenching music from Josef Hassid.
Maybe God decided he couldn't be parted from Josef Hassid for too long. That's why he called him back so soon. At least we have his recordings here.

.... Few days later, I Googled for Hassid's life. Yes, I think there is a correlation btw Hassid's life and his interpretation, in a way.
