I just saw Cate Blanchett in her current play at the Sydney Theatre Company tonight. It was one of the most compelling performances I have ever seen, and for some reason I was under the impression she would be flat or lack energy, my god that was a false assumption. Now that I watch this, it seems so bizarre and strange that I sat in front of this woman for three hours, live. Film has this way of making actors seem alien, they loose a human quality that you can't quite put your finger on.
