He sounds incredible for being a live performance! His vocals are almost identical to the recording other than the chorus and another few parts which of course, he didn't want to push it with his vocal range or he may have cracked or damaged his voice. I have some major singer/songwriter respect for Gerard being one myself!

to the people complaining about him singing lower, its because he's not singing the lead in a lot the parts. He's singing the harmony which is lower and Ray is singing the lead, but the volume levels are off

and in the bridge he sings lower just as a stylistic choice.

@TesseractDigital he is singing the lead he just doesnt want to mess his voice up for the rest of the songs. Ray is just singing his normal harmony and Gerard is good enough to be able to change it to go lower and make it sound good. Personally i think it sounds better.

the only thing i can think of as the reason why he dosent sing the bridge as high as in the studio recording is because of computer vocalizing in some parts of the song sad to say :(

@casey88camaro nearly every artist auto tunes in the studio. It's no secret. They are a very tight band, most bands sound dreadful live with no sense of timing whatsoever. I agree it's a shame it's sung lower here, but he's not michael jackson he's a normal dude with a low voice and maybe didn't want to push himself and sound bad for these sessions. peace guys,

Green Day, The Strokes, The Police, Nirvana, the Foo Fighters, The Ramones etc are all bands that go/went into the studio, did their shit and then go play it exactly the same way live. The way it was meant to be. I like MCR, and I'd say they're a pretty tight unit live, but Gerard can sometimes be hit or miss with the vocals. I'm pretty sure AOL auto tune everyone that agrees to do these sessions so it's not a big deal.

@iBlah6666 Listing a handful of bands is hardly proving a point, I didn't say no band in history has ever been good live. I've said they are a tight band, I was complimenting them. Gerard just clearly struggles as you admit to sing as the records dictate on a consistent basis. It's no crime, there's no need to get defensive, I rate them extremely highly as a live act. My point was they may not be perfect but generally most bands aren't even near MCR's standards and it's a shame.

Well when I mention bands I guess I assume people will look them up, especially in the case of Green Day, The Strokes and Nirvana, the live performances are as good and usually even better than on record. @casey88camaro he probably could do it if he wanted to, but maybe he just couldn't be bothered? i mean, to sing that high is tough on your voice and if he knows that he's got a long set ahead of him, he doesn't want to work his voice too hard. also credit has to be given by the way he's adapted the chorus to suit a lower voice, that's purely creative and he's gotta be given props fr that.
