  • can anyone tell me what the "secret clearance is"....?

  • I'm only a teenager but I've always wanted to do something like this with my life, and I would love to be an Aviation Survival Technition (: Thank you all who do so much!

  • the herc is beast

  • Sounds like a good gig to me.

  • Thank you to all who serve in the military. Your sacrifices are awesome. I'm also proud of my son who just yesterday committed to the CG in pursuit of an AST rating.

  • I sure as hell didn't see any GOLDFISH picking up the body parts of little kids blown up in a sweet shop in Iraq or picking up injured soliders in Afgh The CGof old WAS a Military unit, but that mission was changed in 2001,Look it up,you are HOMELAND SECURITY just because you maybe near Iraq means nothing, the Custom dept, FBI are there to,My point was that the CGGoldfish STOLE the PJ motto,Until you HOMELAND security ASSCLOWNS put on a ruck and get the blood of soldiers on your whites STFU!

  • @PJ4life1 Coast Guard has been here longer, 'nuff said.

  • @PJ4life1 im pretty sure that you would be scared if you went in a helicopter in a category 3 storm so go and sit down chair force and cam down and shut up the coast guard saved over 1,000,000 lives how many people did the air force from the ocean

  • @ilikeyoursister1 Helicopter + Category 3 Storm?...Sounds exciting!

  • @PJ4life1 That must be why we serve in the DOD during wartime huh? That must be why we've lost guys in Iraq? That must be why our Deployable Ops are embedded with Navy ships all over the world teaching them how to conduct boardings? That must be why we captured and held all ports and oil terminals off Iraq? That must be why we have RAID teams in Afghan and LEDETS combatting terrorism and piracy in the middle east and Africa? I respect PJ's, ya'll are tough, but do some research b4 you bash us...

  • @PJ4life1 The coast guard just saved some marines who were in water......you jarheads need us for reassurance when you get wet.

  • @PJ4life1 actually the pj stole the coast guards motto the coast guard has been rescuing a lot longer you shit head

  • This is really the career I have always wanted... I love water I love heights and I love life! I'm from Boise Idaho and I am wondering if there is any recruiters in the area.

  • Having lived near the ocean all my life I'm thankful for the emergency services offered by the government. Anyone whose spent some time on the seas knows how rough it gets out there. How unpredictable.

  • Visited the coast guard base in Atlantic City, NJ. The rescue swimmers are jacked and say they go on about 12 missions a year... can't wait to try for A school... it is so worth it.

  • Its so gay that we have nothing like this in New Zealand

  • what i plan to do after high school.

or is it better to go to college first ?

    idk

    advice?

  • It depends how much you want it, if you have a doubt about doing it then college might be your deal or if you know in your mind you want it then do it and dont let anyone tell you other wise, this is all coming from experience, i just got disenrolled from AST school for medical conditions and im going back because i want it more then anything.

  • @thesirwookie01 Definetly college first. Try the coast guard academy or rotc

  • Ummm... When the world is coming to an end... I bet the coast guards will be busy :) The lord loves medics and guardians!

  • woooooooooooo!!!!!!! yeah:):)

  • God Damn i cant wait to do this.. HOORAH!

  • how did it go? it's been six months since u posted this.

  • my thoughts exactly, this would be the best job in the world, 4 years for me until i get to try for it. i would love this job like no other.

  • God this looks scary.

    Its for a good cause

    though. Still....:/

  • Wow amazing video wish to experience that someday

  • What do ASTs wear? There was a small segment on AST gear on the Deadliest Catch but it never covered any of the exact equipment, just briefly mentioned it. I know they wear Scubapro Jetfins (I think)and drysuits are mandatory in cold water, but I was interested in what type of mask/snorkel etc.

  • cool

  • Wow, this was very informational -- thank you. Sounds like quite the job! College hasn't been everything I hoped it would be and I'm considering the Coast Guard, now.

  • I want to be an AST. :(

  • Thanks! I'm working on putting some video profiles up of Coast Guard members who actually do these jobs...give a little inside scoop on what we do.
