Last time I went I had this on my Ipod as I stood up there and now I'm older and have persevered at the novel it gave me shivers, pity 'stars' these days don't have the talent that Kate had and merely last a few years.
I've never been into this kind of music. But i just randomly stumbled upon this song while i was looking for pagan folk metal, and i must admit, damn what a beautiful song!

I love how committed she is to portraying a possessive, insane ghost out to claim the soul of her lover. That takes guts. Her vocals and dance are wild and perfect. I especially like the way she'll kick the hem of her dress or raise one leg, in order to look like she's fluttering. And a nasal singing voice, like the one she uses here, is standard in Indian movies. I can understand that it annoys some people, but it's not "bad singing," per se.

ummm.. well, the only way it would work is if someone who is actually a "blood-bought" Christian were to use the name of Jesus to take authority over a demon spirit, the priest probably wasn't actually "born again" in Christ, so that's probably why it came back.. only people who are actually in Christ have authority over demons, or they will keep coming back.. they like to find any spiritual entryway they can into people's lives.
if you're a Christian you have the authority to drive out demons (mark 16:17). you may want to pray and ask God to show you if there is an open door somewhere that's allowing them to come in and harrass your family- occult stuff, things like that. demons have no authority in a believer's life, but they will try to hang around if you don't use your authority. if you don't feel confidant, you could ask a Christian pastor or leader who has experience to help out. :]

Yah, American Idol would've shot that down instantly. Real music and talent is often missed. I'm so glad she "made it" awhile back and we can enjoy interesting and different music like this. Although I think that the song hasn't really grasped the essence of the book and could have expressed the relationship between Cathy and Heathcliff much better than it does. Still fab though. Also why is the naration identical in the book when Mr Lockwood and Nelly would be vastly contrasting in intellect? It confuses me how a maid could use imagery like pathetic fallacy so vividly? Sorry if i've bored some people who just like the song.
The maid doesn't relate the story to the reader. Lockwood tells the reader what he has been told by Nelly: it is filtered through him. It's a very complex narrative device, which is mirrors within mirrors.
If someone here has read the book will agree with me that she's the perfect Cathy, that the music takes you to the moors of Yorkshire and that it describes the inmortal love between Cathy and Heathcliff. Put yourselves on the moors, with dark clouds above you and a strong wind blowing and yearning for the only one you've loved more than yourself. The music will tell you everything else. Oh!! She's supposed to be a ghost haunting Heathcliff.
I agree totally. This song and vid are the essence of Cathy. Wild, obsessive and tragic. The music, lyrics and movement perfectly portray the meaning of "Wuthering Heights" novel and films. Anyone who disagrees doesn't understand the character or story.

I agree with you. I am 43 and I saw this song getting born when I was 15 years old and it always has been my favourite as it's the book Wuthering Heights. And I tell you, you gotta be made of a special paste to get into Wuthering Heights. I hate when some people classifieds this literature classic as a chick novel or movie...anyway they will never change my mind, nor either on Kate Bush.
I like both versions a whole lot really (Pat's and Kate's) but I like Pat's best for one reason. In the part where they sing, "you know it's me, Kathy" and hold it out, Pat's goes to a much higher note than Kate and it's so much more dramatic. I love how she does it.

I agree totally. This song and vid are the essence of Cathy. Wild, obsessive and tragic. The music, lyrics and movement perfectly portray the meaning of "Wuthering Heights" novel and films. Anyone who disagrees doesn't understand the character or story.

The song is so untrue of the book! Its annoying - and she is the bizzarest dancer i've ever seen. Poor Cathy - i doubt she would have like to be represented like her!

First of all, who said the song must be the copy of the book? Why couldnt she just use her imagination?
Second, she told once that she wrote the song after she saw the end of a movie.
Third - she moves in a very special and beautiful way. She herself is very beautiful.
And finally, Wuthering Heights is one of the greatest hits of all times!

I agree with you. I am 43 and I saw this song getting born when I was 15 years old and it always has been my favourite as it's the book Wuthering Heights. And I tell you, you gotta be made of a special paste to get into Wuthering Heights. I hate when some people classifieds this literature classic as a chick novel or movie...anyway they will never change my mind, nor either on Kate Bush.

I like both versions a whole lot really (Pat's and Kate's) but I like Pat's best for one reason. In the part where they sing, "you know it's me, Kathy" and hold it out, Pat's goes to a much higher note than Kate and it's so much more dramatic. I love how she does it.
