Ahh, I still remember what a thrill it used to be to see the next chapter of a video game come out because of how fast graphics/features and new IDEAS were advancing back then. And I love the cheesey yet classic computer music. Now the rate of advancement has gotten to the point where it can't get much better other than making video games look like a real movie (which I wouldn't like) and the soundtracks are crappy bands, no computer music. Call me old school, but I like the classics!
Mybe I'm old (31), but I agree with you. Konami's music was pretty tight. We used to bug out on these games like "man, those graphics are sick!!" I was a megaman guy, but castlevania is mos def one of the best series of all time. Old megaman by the way, not this pokemon looking stuff they got him doing now. LOL. You ain't old skool, my kids love mario 3!
The BEST Castlevania game for NES series! Nothing can beat Dracula's Curse, I still have my original cartridige and NES and play once in a while! Can't wait for "Lords of Shadow" next year!
In Castlevania 1 & 2 you play as Simon, and in Dracula's Curse you get to play as Trevor Belmont, because it's a prequel game, which takes place before 1 and 2. > Castlevania: 1691 > Simon's Quest: 1698 > Dracula's Curse: 1476. Hope it helps.
brings back good memories. i had nintendo when i was 12-14 years old and i only had this, flintstones, super mario bros 3 and zelda with many castles.
this game and zelda i played most but never managed to finish, this game is very hard.
and man i loved a game with a rabbit and finally after a long time i finished it.
This is the best game ever. Im 24 now and i've been playing it since the first day it came out here , i still have my original NES and games including CV 1 , 2 and 3 (this one)
I might post a video sometime of me finishing the game without dying once.
And the soundtrack is so cool:-) Rember we used the code for listen too the whole soundtrack. Those were the days. Castelvania is one of my favorite series
me too. I remembered when i used to live in Cali, Colombia and my best friend Carlos used to let me borrow it. I wonder if i can get this game for the Wii system with the wii points and get it so i can play it. That will be awesome!
OH MY GOD! I loved this game! Everytime I played it I felt like I was one of the Belmonts the great vampire slaying family . I went as one of Simon's ancestors to a Halloween party because I am in a medieval reenactment group and I joust, swordfight and am an archer. I wore my jousting geat and I SO looked the part. In fact my fiance and I are going as vampire slayers to a Halloween party this year.
I like the music in Akumajou Densetsu better (as all but one here seems to) although this game was much more difficult than it's Japanese counterpart. But I must say that it lacks that creepy music fade that the first two CV's had.
This game is just absolutely hard for me no matter how many times I play it! I manage to get stuck at the end of the Haunted Ship of Fools stage at the very end, where you gotta fight the Mummies and the Cyclopses, and I always lose every time!!
This is THE MOST difficult Castlevania game in the series for me!!
castlevania, the blood coursing thru my veins has been cursed ever since konami released this game...this is the best game ever...anyone in disgust...i shall have your blood drained.
Dude i love this movie, being DC is my favorite castlevania (the beginning my fav castlevaniasong) so i give you a plus on that! but...were u rushing? u missed a holy water, severel candles and meat to refuel ur health!!!!
'Course it did, mate. I still have my PAL copy knocking around. As the others have said, though, Akumajou Densetsu has a much better sound, thanks to the VCR6 chip! :D
While Akumajou Densetsu clearly has the more popular soundtrack compared to CastleVania III, CVIII did have it's moments. Due to the remainder of the music not being washed over by synth strings, certain parts were able to be defined in a better way. Akumajou Densetsu's version is still better, though.
this would be my favorite game if you could control the jump in the air

I'd like to see Konami remake Castlevania 1-3 using the graphics and such from SOTN. That'd be badass in my opinon.

@sternfan75 definitely. they'd probably make them 3d and crappy, there are barely any new worthwhile games anymore

It's used in many of the games, but was introduced in CV3. It's kind of become an anthemic piece, almost as recognised as Vampire Killer.
