This is one video where I noticed he had one member of the Experience and one from Band of Gypsies. Mitch Mitchell and Buddy Miles I think. Pretty cool.
I wish my pops would have made it long enoupgh to see some youtube he would went bat shit crazy over this. RIP Terry D. McClure. Farmer,Veitnam vet, good dad, best freind of mine. im drunk and reminising. He loved the shit out of Jimmy Hendrix even if he was farmer from the blue ridge of N.C.
Go Jimi. He was a genius. They were dropping like flies in the 70s but he will always be remembered along with Janis. Great music ......what happened?
After seeing this movie in 1969, Jimi became my god. the studio version of this song is incredible, too, never been another guitarist or songwriter that comes close
listen again people nothing to get hung about those of us who lived the days everything is coool stop thinking what he would have thought where is your thoughts keep it simple
I love Hendrix. This is the first time I have seen this particular performance. Magnificent! can't believe 3 people rated it poorly. Back from the Storm was ace, the Land of the New and Rising Sun was beautiful. I've heard him play these tracks at other gigs which are also great. It's interesting how unique each live performance can be.
I am not sure what "best" amounts to, but Jimi was an extraordinary talent and creative genius who changed the electric guitar forever. One of those rare instances in time which seemed to produce a ray of sun piercing the void. No one has ever touched the magic that was Jimi and it is doubtful anyone ever will. Some things are a 1 of kind. A fine exampe of a superhuman talent laid to rest from stupid overindulgence of relatively common drugs. Jim only had like 3yrs.
Jimi+Mitch+Billy=Perfection! ...Noel was a great bassist- far above average...but Billy Cox was better for Jimi- musically & spiritually. ..And,yeah- Mitch was a god. The three communicated beautifully.(i think hawaii did them some good too) Quintessential version.
Im a HUGE Jimi hendrix fan, I have multiple tracks of the same tracks such as this one and foxy lady and machine gun, Jimi never played the same song the same. This live version is the best trust me.
The music he did with Billy Cox seemed markedly different from the Noel Redding years...not as "hit" or "pop" oriented, more long jams with Billy. Both periods are great though...
I love this. One reason is because his guitar doesn't sound like one. It does sometimes, but his guitars mostly sound like other instruments, mixed with other strange, otherworldly sounds. And he's always improvising, so no two performances are ever the same. His sound was always living a growing in and outside of him. That's why I love Hendrix.
coreycharles, This concert was jimi's best ever. I have listened to jimi for forty years and to this day he is the gratest giutarist that has ever lived. And was way before his time. It is such a shame that he died so young. I wonder what his music would be like now if he were still with us
such a beautiful version of Hey Baby! I don't think any musician has come along after Hendrix that has been able to put as much emotion and feeling in their music as him.
@motokev I've never heard of them so you may be right, but no matter who comes along Jimi will always have a signature feel to his music that no one will be able to match. I'm sure the same goes for Gilmour, Page, and J Beck, only a different feeling ya dig? peace and love man.
if hendrix didnt die he would have elevated guitar even further....just sucks he couldnt prove it, someone he knew even said that he believed that Hendrix never peaked

Its when you consider that most of the notes he plays are improvised that you start to realise the level of genius.
