the color's a pretty rare finish called Daphne Blue. I'm not sure about strats but the highway one series aren't made in daphne blue anymore. daphne blue highway one teles and strats can be easily found if enough work is put into searching for it. on the other hand though,a hwy one daphne pbass is virtually impossible to get in good condition.

@sum41devotee thanks a lot. Im not a very patient kind of person and didn't found any daphne blue ones so i recently bought a HW1 Strat in Honey Blonde which i really love. Didn't expect such a good and versatile strat which is majorly made in the US for so less money.

in january 2008. i have seen this strat sell through private

owners for $1,200 to $1,400. my friend bought one back in

april for $1,200 it took him over two years just to find one.

The highway one's are more resonant than std us, because of the 6-contact point tremelo bridge, rolled edges for comfort (diy with sandpaper).

Jimi used pre-cbs strats. 70's CBS strats are primitive instruments with their 7'25 inch radius, for a high action,3 bolt-on, narrow string spaced loose necks small frets, low output treble pickups, play your fred flintstone chops on them.

the 2007 highway one sss strat is a straight up balls to the wall strat it doesnt need the S-1 switch or rolled edges. the strats of the 50's 60's 70's 80's 90's and up until 2005 didnt have this useless shit.

american standard for me, the highway one is just too bright. Go american standard. its bullshit fender hikes the price up on a highway one and you don't get a case? they should at least thow in the old molded case since they are using the SKB cases for the standards. anyways, USA standard and HW one both are pretty good, they're just to different guitars, don;t et the price fool you in any case.

id have to say my taste is the highway 1 for sure...is just seemed more well rounded and you can get that unmistakable SRV tone with this strat...the alnico III PU's take distortion alot better than the standard and the HSS strat i noticed...the Fender rep at the store also confirmed this...its a great guitar and cheap for USA made!

Yeah sure.

Highway One guitars are built with the same quality as the American Standard.

But to reduce their price, Fender choosed to put less lacquer, vintage tremolo and Alnico III pickups.

They also got 22 jumbo frets and larger 70's headstock.

But the thiner lacquer lets natural tone shine though the wood and pickups are still good.

yeah the highway ones are fenders little secret...or mistake. They made a better guitar than the american standards for a few hundred dollars cheaper. I like the HW1 10x more than my American Deluxe. The s-1 switching is absolute garbage.

Yeah man, I used to have these problems before with my Highway One, especially with bends. I had to tune my guitar everytime. But now, the problem has disappeard (with time I guess). If your HW 1 is quite new, here's my advice: be patient, your tuning will hold better with time (sorry for my bad english :s )
