Two things... first, it is pretty obvious to me that this guy did not get out of his car to ghost ride. He was completely out of control and disparate; the throttle was stuck wide open. He should have taken the car out of gear and turned the ignition off, but nobody is perfect.
Second, this has been posted on Youtube for a pretty long time and there hasn't been a single confirmation of the drivers condition, which seems little bit heartless.
