I don't really like Ubisoft, their games are "good" by most standards but they feel..."soulless". Rayman is such a bland character, no wonder the Rabbids stole the spotlight on the Wii lol

this might be the first game i ever owned. i still have the same disk i played when i was a toddler. its about 15 years old now. this is the perfect platformer. i also owned super mario world at the same time but have much fonder memories of rayman.

How strange that I completed Rayman for the 10th time today on my PS3 in HD and then CGR FINALLY do a review on this masterpiece.

This game is quite simply one of the greatest games ever made, absolutely flawless in every department.

@IDMWEIGHTSIDM no, i finished this game at 100% with all the cages and unlocked the final stage with mr. dark when i was about 11 years old. Its not an easy game, its just the right amount of challenge. one of the hardest 2d plataforming games? Try megaman, super meat boy, revenge of shinobi, strider. even super mario bros. 3 is harder than rayman

@IDMWEIGHTSIDM it's just hard if you didn't grew up with a NES, this game is WAY easier than castlevania 3 and 1, ninja gaiden trilogy, megaman. etc. This game is on the same level as donkey kong 2.

Here's a fun fact: This was originally going to be planned for the SNES CD, but when that console was cancelled, it was moved to the Atari Jaguar, the Sega Saturn, and of course, the Sony Playstation. Before learning about this, I've always wondered why a few tracks and sound effects sounded very SNES quality. Anyway, without Rayman, Ubisoft wouldn't be what it is today.

@FastTquick That, and this was early, early PlayStation. It's fully equipped with essentially the entire SNES sound system, and then some. It's just that people later on didn't use it, because they learned that CDs could store Redbook audio AND gameplay that mattered.

Lovely game, hard as ****ing hell though. Now while I would say it's definitely creative, I wouldn't say Rayman 1 is anywhere near as fun as Sonic due to how frustrating it gets.

best platformer ever in my opinion, sadly none of the seqeuls comes close to being 1/10 as good.

Music and sound effects are great, the music even got awarded for it's quality back in the original release.

@OmegaMetroid93 you have be kidding me, it took me 2 days to beat rayman 2 as a child, i have yet to beat mr darks final level on this one. i'm already 21....

This was from the time at which games were still hard to beat, and fun to play, not just a breeze to pass trough. Remember having to find EVERY single cage?

I dare anyone to pick this up and finish it in one go, unless you are a veteran player, you will fail, horribly.
