I'm not overweight but kind of untoned. I found the weightloss yoga (some poses) difficult to do. Is it ok if i start here and work my way up to that video? Thanks.
I think I'm going to try out these videos for a while... But I can't do the diet part because my mom refuses to buy healthy food knowing that she needs to really cut down on the cholesterol intake. I really enjoy eating healthy food, so it's not like I'd complain if I had to eat it. And I really enjoy working out and feeling how it's working. I guess things will improve once I get my own place.
I think if you appeal to your moms sense of parenthood she might buy some for you. Let her know how you would love to try new things with her and that it can taste great too. i slipped off the my weightloss wagon the last couple of months but i just want to say these videos and the weight loss yoga videos helped me so much, i was doing either this or a mix between them in the mornings before i went to work, tweaked my diet a little bit and over a period of 3 months i lost 30lbs. i cant wait to get back on track and feel happy and full of energy again. thank you sadie :)
can I do this workout routine 1 hr a day 6 times a week to lose weight? I am currently obese and I am trying to lose weight with your yoga routine. I have been doing this routine for a month now 4 times a week 30 min/ day. what do you think?
hello sadie, i'm just starting out yoga for some weight loss and have never done it before. is it normal for my wrists and bottom palms of my hands to hurt during downward facing dog? sometimes i have to stop the practice and massage them. thank you so much for your help and your videos. i live in the middle of the country in the mid west and most people out here don't know what yoga is let alone own a yoga studio. namaste!
Thankyou so much for doing this! I was struggling so much trying to do other peoples videos. I'm not huge, but I am not exactly petite, and my flexibility is limited. I did my first video of yours yesterday and my god, I feel amazing today!! I'm recommending you to almost everyone I speak to, and I'm definitely going to be using your techniques for many years to come! Thankyou, you're such an inspiration!
Wow! Thanks for the great ideas. I think they will go very well with the program I'm using through the reallifeforhealth website. Their system is really easy to use and it does everything. They have 1000's of different recipes to choose from and they help you build a fitness and nutrition plan that suits your goals. I'm happy that there's no fad diets, pills, or required supplements. I'm really impressed with it, especially since they offer a free trial.
Sadie, whenever i do the pulses (around 6 mins) i always feel the arch of my grounded foot pull painfully. Is this just because I don't have my heel on the ground? I can't get my heel on the ground, what should I do?
Sadie, I am nearly 6' tall, and I don't think that 1500 calories cut it... I mean, for example, the fruits and veggies that I ate today added up to nearly 1000 calories...
hi sadie,i just want to thank you for posting this!I want to lose weight but i find these difficult to do because my wrists hurt soooo much when i do them and my palms ache ....what do you recommend?thank you again!:X
Thanks for the great videos, Sadie. I'm trying to join on Facebook, but I've been having some problems with my Facebook for a few weeks --- tech problems.
These might be a little challenging for me, though. I have some arthritis in my knees. Also, I'm 63 years old. I've done a little yoga here and there since the '70's.
But, I'm going to try to do what I can. Probably with a lot of modifications.
Thanks again for these videos. This is a wonderful gift.
Oh geeze, I'm not overweight and I'm having some difficulty with some of these moves.. definitely hope to build some upper body strength! I really want to get into yoga more, joined some classes and I'm going to go at these everyday. Thank you for the upload Sadie! <3
NO NO! YOU CAN DO IT! promise! i started about 3 weeks ago and things i would sit out or just couldnt do, ive tried and now i can! you have to just believe in yourself and only DO WHAT YOU CAN! that is better then just giving up! anddd whatever is it you can do helps to build muscle ! :)
Im about 17 and i need to lose abbout 40 pounds, ive been doing your yoga for like a week now , i love it [: It feels like im working much more then when i go to a gym i love it, how long did it take you to lose the weight.?
HI Sadie.. I am a newbie to yoga and I have been following your weothg loss for overweight yogis for the last 2 weeks. I feel great afterwards but, my only concern is this... are my feet supposed to hurt when Im done? Im flat footed so not really sure if it makes a difference. Also, I don't have a yoga mat.. I use a folded sheet and I do this on carpet. What do you think?
How long did it take you to loose your 40 pounds .... I'm young in my teens and trying to loose weight so i was wondering what the best diet or exercise plan for me would be
I've been doing your routines for about a week now and I absolutely adore them they are so challenging :)
This is a great video:) well I just started today and I can already feel the burn. I'm really overweighted for my age...I need serious help! I'm worried about my weight and wat would I end up with? Thanks for ur help:) it really helps:) my hips and thighs are huge! Can u give any advice so I can improve my health?
Hi, I am a bit overweight but I can lose stomach weight fast, but it's difficult for me to lose arm fat and hip/leg fat. I have really big hips and when I lose weight I only lose stomach fat. What would be a good practice for me?
hi sadie, i've been doing your yoga work outs for a 2 weeks and have already seen results! thank you! i do it 6 days a week with out any problems but now, on my third week, my wrist are beginning to hurt while in plank or downward dog (which is a basic position and starting point for a lot of other positions) what should i do?
hi...my lower body(hips and thighs) are larger than my upper body...and i'm getting married next month...can u advice me some poses to shed down those extra pouds atleast a little bit please....thank u!
i love doing yoga, mainly becasue of how i feel after a session. i have spoken to many instructors who tell me although yoga helps, it's the diet that is 90% responsible for weight loss, and most good instructors are vegetarians.
i look thinner, but gained 10lbs from doing yoga, all muscle which is nice.
hi, im about to start your overweight yoga then progress to the weight loss yoga. Im really looking forward to starting this to try to get in shape for summer. Thanks for posting this. Ill post my progress after a week
I have been wanting to get back into Yoga AD I am doing a weight loss show! I realize this is a year old vid, but I wanna feature you in my vids! Wanna do a little special vid to put in mine??
Hiya! Just started doing your videos and they are wonderful! I love how yoga makes you think, as well as exercise! Not thinking just makes me so bored!
Anyway, I'm trying to lose about 10-20lbs. Doing this workout, and eating healthily and all that, how long would that take me, approximately? I'm 18, and 5'5, I weigh about 145 pounds. Also, I have excess belly fat which I just want to get rid of! How long, doing this, will it take me to start seeing results?
Thank you for doing this. I have doen Bikram in the past, but it was a little expensive for me to keep doing it. I love to run, and after i run, i am always sore. So this is perfect for me. I am also trying to lose 20 lbs. I will keep you posted. I start this today.
Sadie, I am 5 months pregnant and have been trying to stay with my yoga practice, I love your videos and I found this one to work with my growing body, are there any poses I should not be doing, I do the last part propped up on a pillow...any other modifications?
This looks like a great workout. But what i really want to know is that since theres a lot of pressure on the calves, since one is on their toes for most of the workout, will it build muscle on the calves? Because i primarily want to lose weight on my calves, thighs and hips before any muscle building whatsoever. i definitely dont want any muscle on my calves till i have lost considerable amount of weight on them.

I wanted to thank you for taking the time to help us heavy ones out. Its so hard to do the stereotypical bouncy Aerobics to burn calories, this is a great way to start off and strengthen my back and knees from carrying this weight around.

I think you're awesome, thanks for these videos... but just an interesting fact - Yoga is actually dated as being over 5000 years old, amazing really!
Im just getting into yoga so i have this question 4 u how come when i do the pulse thing with the legs i always get a cramp in my inner thighs is that normal or am i just doing it wrong
hi, i love your videos. i'm only now getting into yoga and starting off slowly to try to lose some weight first. i've been trying to do this series for some weeks now but i believe something may be off with my technique. my right elbow (not sure if it's the tendons or the ligament) hurts when i bend at certain angles and i think the source of pain stems from doing the down dog to core plank waves. can you please advise on what i can do to minimize injury during this set?
Make sure that your fingers are spread wide and middle fingers and wrists point forward, Don't twist your elbow in this pose or over-bend it. It is more likely in Chaturanga your elbows are back from your wrists, when they need to stay right over them. Put your knees down in Chaturanga, work your belly and see if this helps. Also, massage your forearms after yoga and do my Magic Wrist Clear video. Let me know! xoSadie
Thanks a lot for the videos ^^. I am a beginner to yoga and yes, it hurts like hell but I sweat a lot, so that's good. Hopefully the pain will go away as I practice more and more over the next couple of days. Just wanna say you are doing such a wonderful job putting up those videos, and if possible, please tell us about the diet you were following ^^
She will need to work slowly, and put her knees down in poses like Plank and Down Dog that challenge the arms, but the only way to lose weight is to gain lean muscle strength, so she has to work through it until she gets stronger. Have her do longer holds of the standing poses, and work on knees-down Plank and Chaturanga, firming her belly for support to build arm and core strength until she gets strong enough to lift the knees. Good luck! Sadie
Thanks alot, we'll try that, but could you explain what the Plank, Down Dog, knees-down Plank and Chaturanga is or show them?? (I've searched the internet and i can't seem to find a single solution, there are different poses, so i'd just like to know which is which. I'm not very into these yoga things and i'd appreciate to get to know them better so i can help my gf.
omg, I am so glad I watched your videos! I have been doing yoga at home with Kurt Johnsen (Yoga for Life show on Veria) for a month or so. It really has helped but yours are wonderful because they are geared for weight loss. I am so glad you have these posted! It makes me feel awesome. :)
Can you post a video on the type of diet you were on while loosing weight? Thanks a bunch and cant wiat to see more! :D
Can u plz help me, My whole body in gud proportion but i have a tummy, I want to reduce my tummy ....... which yoga is gud for me..... thanks in advance........ plz suggest....
hi sadie this is amazing i tried and loved it but the proble that i face is my shoulder hurts me could u plz suggest aomethig to reduce the shoulder pain thanks
I have tried a lot of exercises and have changed my eating dramatically for a few months now, but I haven't seen any changes. :( and I'm only 20. Is there something wrong?
You're awesome. I'm currently trying to get into better shape and lost 70 lbs before I plan getting pregnant once more. My back is extremely weak and I experience new back pain every day. Its definitely due to lack of exercise and the excess weight,
I am looking forward to losing all my unnecessary weight with the help of your videos.
Hi! I was curious about doing yoga for weightloss, I read some articles online that said yoga won't help with weightloss unless you do power yoga or you do additional cardio outside of it. Is that true? I'd like to just keep practicing with these since I'm plus sized. I plan on cutting calories too and was just curious about the articles. Thanks for the vids I was sweatin two minutes in hehe :)
thanks so much for this!! I've been doing yogatic with Esther Ekhart and I love her, but was also wanting to compliment with something more geared towards weight loss. I'm still quite a bit away from my ideal goal. I lost 40 lbs and hit a rut and thats when i started doing yoga. I'm also trying to improve my health in one way each week. For ex 1st week cut out ALL fast food. Then no food after 8. Then breakfast every morning. etc
It all depends on how you eat, how much you weight now, and how hard you work at the yoga. Just do it, eat healthy and aim for 1500-1700 calories a day, drink lots of water [no sugary drinks or diet sodas], and you'll get the best results possible for you!
I am very overweight and I have a huge belly, it is really hard for me to try to do the Downward Facing Dog pose, how would I be able to modify it to get the same benefits? Thnx.
You can always put your knees down and practice pressing and reaching with your hands and feet, maybe taking the knees a little off the floor, and work towards it over time.
Maybe it's stupid to ask, but what is your weight, sadienardini? I'm just wondering, how mush must your weight be if I I want to be able to do all poses?
I weigh 125 pounds and I'm 5'8". You don't have to be that thin, however, that's just my body type. Eat well, do lots of yoga, and you'll be able to do lots of poses at your healthy weight. Remember, these poses were made up of tiny skinny Indian men who practiced 8 hours a day--like Cirque du Soleil. I can't do them all. So just be in your practice, do what you can, and enjoy the ride.
ill start doing yoga....i jst pass by at youtube...surfing net bout yoga...im doing my own steps of exercising...but its not working....i wasted my time....i hope yoga will...really really..flat my tummy! ill start yoga tomorrow im gonna follow ur steps...ill put all all ur videos in my ipod!!! im really desperate to have flat tummy... cuz im kinda chobby
Hi there, to get a flat tummy, do yoga, but you have to eat less to lose the fat on top of your flat belly.
this yoga plus a lower-calorie diet will burn fat all over your body. You have to couple fewer calories in than you burn in order to lose weight. So do both, and you'll transform!
oh good to hear...im really curious about banana thing...is it really effective....that if eat banana b4 and after meal...u can loose 10 pounds in 1 week or 2 week i guess...is it true? or jst a myth?
That's just a myth...the only way to lose weight is to do the opposite of how you put it on, over time, and by eating less than you burn during the day, You do have to eat more than 1200 calories a day, or your metabolism will slow down and you'll burn water and muscle, not fat. So I recommend 1500-1800 calories a day for people trying to lose weight, plus 3-4 hours of vigorous yoga per week. That should do it! Good luck,
oh....i nid to eat more then!! yayyyyyyyyyyy i love eating...hahahahaha...im really trying to get rid of candies,chocolates.......but i guess i can eat a bit now....weeeeeeeee.... 1500 calories is really enough for me ^_^ ysterday i jst ate twice cuz im scared that i might be fatter.... i thought it will help me reduce weight but im wrong :(( my metabolism ill be slower if i dont eat enoughhh....
ur an angel!!!! thnx for ur tipsssss MASTER SADIE!!!
Awesome--you need to be able to enjoy your food and your life, and still look great! The key is what you eat now--stick to things your body understands [fresh, not processed], and you won't store it as fat, unless you eat way too much. Have fun!
Both are great, and this yoga IS like regular exercise as far as calories burned go. It's often superior because you also are toning your muscles, which amps up your metabolism and burns more calories all day long too!
hi sadie im a huge fan of you videos thanks so much . i have been doing ur vids for 2 weeks at 3 to 4 times a week and all ready i have lost weight and my body is a different shape thank you so much i love yoga and u have inspired me to go to australia to study yoga proffesionally thanks sadie u put me on the right path x x sinead
Your video looks great, but I have carpal tunnel in my right wrist and while I am not too much overweight (maybe 15lbs or so?), it gets quite uncomfortable pretty fast with the poses that require me getting down on all fours, any suggestions? I really want to continue with your videos!
So just hold the standing poses longer or come to Mountain Pose and breathe, or any other pose you can do instead of the ones you can't. You can do this with some modification!
Thank you Sadie. This is the first yoga video I've seen for people who are overweight. I know you suggest the Jade Harmony Yoga Mats. Is there are big difference in comfort between the 3/16 and the 5/16 mat? How wide should the mat I use be? I measured shoulder to shoulder and its about 25". Would it be best for me to get a wider mat instead or would the 24" be fine? I can't wait to start. Thank you again.
Hey Sadie! First off, I want to thank you for the excellent routines you make. They are brilliant!!! Within 10 mins of work out, I'm sweating like a dog. It's normal right!!! ;) ;)
I just have one problem while practicing your routines, my arms get weak easily ( because of my overweight ) and I have to stop... :( Do you have any recommendations on how to solve this dilemma??? Thanks a million and keep tese routines commin!!!! ;)
Try putting your knees down whenever you need to, even in down dog splits to core planks--put the standing knee on the floor so you're in hands and knees. DO push your arm strength though, and ground your fingertips down to help fire up the arm muscles. If your arms are shaking so much they can't hold you, put a knee down. Otherwise, work through it and gain strength fast! Good luck,
I just have a question when ever I push down on my hands whilst doing the poses it kind of hurts do you have any tips for making my hands feel less sore thanks
Wow, this looks great! As soon as my boyfriend heads off to work tonight I'm gonna do this whole series. Thanks so much, Sadie, you're a great teacher and so very beautiful; you have a wonderful energy :-) Namaste xoxoxo
Thank you SO much for this video, I used to practice yoga few years ago, I shouldn't stop but I foolishly did :(. Now I'm little overweight, but your routine will help me get back on track! THANK YOU!!!!!
thanks sadie - i stumbled upon your videos a few days ago, but found that my body was stopping me from doing some poses - hopefully this will help with the last 25 lbs :)

Hi, I am a bit overweight but I can lose stomach weight fast, but it's difficult for me to lose arm fat and hip/leg fat. I have really big hips and when I lose weight I only lose stomach fat. What would be a good practice for me?

i love doing yoga, mainly becasue of how i feel after a session. i have spoken to many instructors who tell me although yoga helps, it's the diet that is 90% responsible for weight loss, and most good instructors are vegetarians.
i look thinner, but gained 10lbs from doing yoga, all muscle which is nice.

Hi Sadie,
This looks like a great workout.

Thank you so much for this series for overweight yogis!
I'm just starting yoga and was curious as to what mat you would recommend? Manduka? I have wood floors and tend to sweat alot, heavy yogi indeed...
Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you again!

I use the Harmony Mat by Jade. I find it's the stickiest, but Manduka is thicker and runs a close second. Either one would work!

hi, i love your videos. i'm only now getting into yoga and starting off slowly to try to lose some weight first. i've been trying to do this series for some weeks now but i believe something may be off with my technique. my right elbow (not sure if it's the tendons or the ligament) hurts when i bend at certain angles and i think the source of pain stems from doing the down dog to core plank waves. can you please advise on what i can do to minimize injury during this set?
centreself 2 years ago
Make sure that your fingers are spread wide and middle fingers and wrists point forward, Don't twist your elbow in this pose or over-bend it. It is more likely in Chaturanga your elbows are back from your wrists, when they need to stay right over them. Put your knees down in Chaturanga, work your belly and see if this helps. Also, massage your forearms after yoga and do my Magic Wrist Clear video. Let me know! xoSadie
sadienardini 2 years ago

Good luck! Sadie
sadienardini 2 years ago
Thanks alot, we'll try that, but could you explain what the Plank, Down Dog, knees-down Plank and Chaturanga is or show them?? (I've searched the internet and i can't seem to find a single solution, there are different poses, so i'd just like to know which is which. I'm not very into these yoga things and i'd appreciate to get to know them better so i can help my gf.

Then breakfast every morning. etc

how many pounds will i lose in 1 month doing these 4 steps for 3 hours everyday....?
PinkBigFan 2 years ago
It all depends on how you eat, how much you weight now, and how hard you work at the yoga. Just do it, eat healthy and aim for 1500-1700 calories a day, drink lots of water [no sugary drinks or diet sodas], and you'll get the best results possible for you!
Good luck/have fun.

Hey there,
You can always put your knees down and practice pressing and reaching with your hands and feet, maybe taking the knees a little off the floor, and work towards it over time.
Good luck!

Maybe it's stupid to ask, but what is your weight, sadienardini? I'm just wondering, how mush must your weight be if I I want to be able to do all poses?
MichelleSeven 2 years ago
I weigh 125 pounds and I'm 5'8". You don't have to be that thin, however, that's just my body type. Eat well, do lots of yoga, and you'll be able to do lots of poses at your healthy weight. Remember, these poses were made up of tiny skinny Indian men who practiced 8 hours a day--like Cirque du Soleil. I can't do them all. So just be in your practice, do what you can, and enjoy the ride.

PinkBigFan 2 years ago
Hi there,
Hi there, to get a flat tummy, do yoga, but you have to eat less to lose the fat on top of your flat belly.
this yoga plus a lower-calorie diet will burn fat all over your body. You have to couple fewer calories in than you burn in order to lose weight. So do both, and you'll transform!
xoSadie
sadienardini 2 years ago
oh good to hear...im really curious about banana thing...is it really effective....that if eat banana b4 and after meal...u can loose 10 pounds in 1 week or 2 week i guess...is it true? or jst a myth?
Namaste :)
PinkBigFan 2 years ago
That's just a myth...the only way to lose weight is to do the opposite of how you put it on, over time, and by eating less than you burn during the day, You do have to eat more than 1200 calories a day, or your metabolism will slow down and you'll burn water and muscle, not fat. So I recommend 1500-1800 calories a day for people trying to lose weight, plus 3-4 hours of vigorous yoga per week. That should do it! Good luck,
Sadie
sadienardini 2 years ago
oh....i nid to eat more then!! yayyyyyyyyyyy i love eating...hahahahaha...im really trying to get rid of candies,chocolates.......but i guess i can eat a bit now....weeeeeeeee....
NAMASTE :)
PinkBigFan 2 years ago
Awesome--you need to be able to enjoy your food and your life, and still look great! The key is what you eat now--stick to things your body understands [fresh, not processed], and you won't store it as fat, unless you eat way too much. Have fun!

do u lose more belly fat like this or regular exercise?? O_o
aznlovegurl 2 years ago
Both are great, and this yoga IS like regular exercise as far as calories burned go. It's often superior because you also are toning your muscles, which amps up your metabolism and burns more calories all day long too!

Thanks a million and keep tese routines commin!!!! ;)
dreakdreamer 3 years ago
Hi there,
glad to hear from you! And yes, it's normal:)
Good luck,
Sadie
