@WeRcoolcats 13hp industrial, a little under powered for the weight of the kart. Check my newer videos, I just rebuilt the suspension and fitted a 250cc dirt bike motor, it goes heaps harder now.
yea just seems like it needs more top end.. those lawnmower motors good for the kiddies but when an adult rides in one it seems to not have the response it should.. vf 400 huh yea that will help out :-) well your friend has a nice property.. i live in town where i cant do these things..
@IRONMAIDENFAN2006 You're right on a few points. This is at a friend's place, I wish I had this much room. More power, higher rpm? How about a VF400? Kart is currently getting upgraded with bigger wheels & suspension, and the VF motor.
sweet cart, ever thought of motocycle motor to go with the shocks haha. and i read that you might re-do the susp. go for a long travel suspension so it can land good like real buggys
Cheers. I'm currently saving some dollars for a donor bike. Spent $250 on rod ends, ball joints & steel for new front end recently. Got ATV wheels a while ago. You don't have a spare YZ490 or R6 lying around do you?
I just picked up a home made quad, fitted with a gsx400 motor. I'm gonna use the front suspension (didn't have to buy all that stuff after all), and obviously the engine. Should give my kart a whole new personality.
@aussiekartman maybe a gs500 engine. inline 2cyl. 496?cc's would make a kick-arse kart. google gstwins for the site. more info there. was a guy that build a gs500 kart. from what ive read, it was plenty fast PLENTY
A GS500 would be perfect. I'm looking for something that size. Even a 4-600cc single cylinder dirt bike motor would be suitable. I've got a GSX400 motor but it is incomplete. I will buy a bike that runs and strip it myself.
@yamahonkawazuki It's all happening. Started machining parts for front end, and picked up a VF400 recently. Complete running bike, so kart should be upgraded & drivable in about 6 months.
When I bought the engine it's pull start was damaged. Started it with a power drill and 24mm socket welded into a bit of rod, run off the crankshaft. Had to go to a mates place with access to power. I fixed the pull start after this first day out.
did he use an impact gun to start it

@IRONMAIDENFAN2006 I finished the rebuild. Only ended up using a 250 dirt bike motor, but it goes pretty well.

@cjmotorsified Got the clutch off ebay locally. Came from a mower shop, they get fitted to chippers, mulchers etc.

hey put a vtwin briggs and stratton on it and a touce belt converter and a lot of power will be going to the rear
dragata1 1 year ago
It's getting a 500cc+ bike motor and bigger wheels, after I sell my new black kart. That'll give it enough power to the rear!

Yeah, soon I'll build a tarmac racer. Asphalt only.
aussiekartman 2 years ago
are you still going to make a street racer billy kart designed specially for the AIGRF? kart looks almost as good as those sideburns btw ;P
Care4AnotherSegment 2 years ago
I'll try to build a tarmac gravity kart at the same time I make a bigger, better buggy than this one. Gotta sell this one in a few months first.
aussiekartman 2 years ago
how much would you sell for
Quentonwall 2 years ago
Around $800.
aussiekartman 2 years ago
great vid, you need a 300cc bike engine on it next, lol at the crash at the end, was it damaged much?
strapamotortoit 2 years ago
Cheers. Only a crushed throttle cable outer.
And I agree, couple of months I'll sell this to buy a 300cc+ bike. Already got Edge products Sidewinder wheels axles and parts, seats etc.
aussiekartman 2 years ago
i mean a 300c bike engine on it instead of the oe you have on now
