More like the new repackaged without Florence Ballard, Diane Ross & The Supremes, Diane had finally gotten her way!

Cindy Birdsong stepped in and while we kept enjoying "the magic" Diane & Berry Gordy (Motown "THE BOSS") were well on their way building their deceit!

Today, Diane is unmasked, career in oblivion, Mary Wilson is "the legacy" of THE SUPREMES as they are "INDUCTED" at "The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame And Museum" surely not Diane Ross & The Supremes! THE INDUSTRY KNOWS!

This is a horrible performance if it was made for TV. Cindy is moving but Mary is doing another move and Diana act as if she can't wait to ge this whole, dull performance over with. They must've not gotten much sleep from the other performances they've done live.

IT also looks like the clothes they wore in photographs during the EXPO 68, perhaps they filmed in the Spanish Pavillion for spanish television. so many missing elements to the supreme's performance logs. alsmost no record of their Mexico trips and Brazil and Argentina. all hot spots for variety television and many used color cameras in the 1960's

This is clearly not a performance; not only do their clothes not match, but, as nice as Diana's dress is, they're not the usual look for Supremes in performance. And as everyone says, this is quite lacklustre. It's obviously a rehearsal.

Why would they record a rehearsal and then include the television networks logo in the lower right corner of the screen? Why are there no breaks and restarts if this was a rehearsal? They are even in full makeup! This was the actual broadcast and I have color photos from it. This was the actual broadcast performance seen on Spanish Television. This is not a rehearsal. copilunio, the poster that shared this great clips has confirmed that.

@DetroitLives313 1. Spanish public national TV didn't start using logos on their broadcastings until the late 1980s, when the surge of regional and private channels compelled them to make their broadcasts distinctive.

2. About the make-up thing, give me a break, it was the 1960s and women were in full make-up, full hairspray and even full undergarments anywhere anytime of the day.

I can take your word on what you say about it being the actual performance, but not for the reasons you gave.

@haranoe Mary Wilson said this is the actual performance that was broadcast on television! She should know because she was there. I was just a kid in grade school during this time. What I gave was from my observations here only. Without verfiying it with Mary, somethings just did not make sense if this were a rehearsal. This was taped in studios in Portugal by the way.

Glad I came across this again. :) I never saw Diana with Cindy and Mary seeming like a real "group." Must be one of those times they were in Europe when Berry wasn't there, and Diana bonded with them! I like how, for once, they seemed like a group and their age performing in regular clothes and not glamming it up -- their talent and the great song make them still shine here.

This song was the last song the Flo sung before being let go from the group Mary say's so in her book that Flo did recorded this Reflection ablum before getting kick out, Cindy nice and all but she is no Florance Ballard even if she looked like her a little, that is why Barry pick her and took her from Patti's group right to this day Patti still talk about how they took Cindy from her she said it was dirty.

Could not agree with you more. Florence Ballard had a very distinctive voice, style and persona about her that Cindy Birdsong came no where near matching. Cindy Birdsong did have a good voice however she did not look anything like the "late" Florence Ballard. Florence got the shaft from Berry. She was a woman of dignity and class from what I learned about her. RIP Flo. PS: She is probably wearing heaven out the "Heavenly Supremes".

You can tell this is a rehearsal because Mary is not giving it her all, Cindy either. Also they recorded the rehearsals to review them to see if they should make changes before the real performance. You may have color pictures of this performance but who doesn't have color pictures of the supremes! They probably took them because you rarely seen them out of gowns and this was their daywear. Mary is not one to slack on the real performance and this is overdubbed with the record version.

I just noticed, at 1:40, Mary and Cindy are singing the part that was cut out of the released version of the song that is playing. So their mouths are moving, with no words coming out.

You're partly right laxamr2....they DID sing that line live, but it's NOT on the original released version. It was included only as an alternate version that surfaced more recently! It's actually a little flat, so that's probably why they cut it from the original.

I have a hunch that this was taped rehearsal footage. Diana isn't all that "on." Normally her eyes and smile are all over the place and she always plays with her hair. She almost looks tired or bored here. Not her normal self. I have seen other Diana rehearsals and they are similar to this. Cindy and Mary don't look like they are synchronized at all. I say taped rehearsal.

By this time the girls were so over rehersed they could have performed these numbers in their sleep. I think maybe Diana was in a bad attitude as if this really was spain she had hoped for a much needed rest and that bastard gordy dragged them in into just one more show. brian or was it edie Holland who said Diana could be really "DRY" when she didn't get her way and was forced to do something she didn't want to do, but always managed somehow to do it great. This could be one of those moments

I haven't decided yet, but this may be my favorite performance of REFLECTIONS, one of the best Supremes songs (and also one of the most beautiful song lyrics every written. Note: Forever Came Today falls in this category, too). In any event, the large expanse of blank stage gives this an eerie, spooky quality that goes great with the music. Don't like the "Tennessee Ford" special at all, so the only runner-up to this for me is the clip I have posted on my videos. what do you think???
