Leviathan is perhaps the single greatest black metal project of all time. Massive Conspiracy did not get all the praise it deserved. The album is a masterpiece from beginning to start, but only if you invest enough time into it. It possess more of a subtle brilliance then Tenth Sublevel or Tentacles. It requires numerous listens but rewards you by the 15th or 20th listen when it becomes a COMPLETELY different album then the first time you heard it. Just fucking brilliant.

The bands you've listed are all great, and I'd recommend them to anyone, but this too is great music, and the reason a lot of people listen to this along with what you mentioned is because the "mainstream" has become fake and over produced. There is no heart in it and it is all repetitive. Listening to this, you can tell Wrest's heart is in, even if his heart is cold, black, and dead. I'd rather have true, raw emotion in my music than something that is so accessible it's no different than rap.
