  • great job (:

the key for the monkey part sounded a tad weird though... :/

but otherwise, fantabulous job!! :D I've been playing piano 8 years, but I find Wicked songs quite difficult to play =] so oz-some playing :)

  • @debz12321 Yep that's very true. I have done a more recent version with a better monkey bit, but there's a little glitch over the tape which is quite frustrating.

    lol, thanks!

  • WOW!!!!

  • You make it look easy! :) Bravo! Bravo!

  • Very much in favor of this speed. It sits a lot better like that. Was intense before! At 0:56 where you have the triplets two bars before the key change from B major to C major, I feel it doesn't slow into the cut common fanfare enough. That's one roaring fanfare! But that's just me. Such a great effort, all that!

Also, looking back at it, I see you're going from B major into D at 0:56, so you must just be doing a different version or something. I'm just going off the Broadway version there.

  • @Zimetric Yeah you're right about the key changes, I was doing a lot by ear so it's not impossible that some were wrong.

    Thanks

  • @Dallimorelover Oh right. That's very impressive by ear, man. I love your commitment to Wicked. The opening is a killer on piano, but you do it well indeed. Rep up.

  • good job ! ;)

can you gave me the notes for it ? please :)

  • Wow that was really great :)

  • Bravo! Beautiful. This section is a beast and you've handled it wonderfully, by ear no less!

  • This is a beautiful and wonderful piece! After you slowed it down, you can really hear the delicate details and complexities that you pull off so perfectly. You're an incredible pianist, and I think this video is so inspirational- thank you for uploading it!

  • Thankyou very much indeed!

  • Hi Dallimore again! I commented on ur other Overture video. Arghhhh I hear you've been playing for 10 years.... that's three ahead of me haha! you're really good btw. Anywayz, I'm trying to learn this piece by listening to your piece. I got the first part... the part where u call the "Dragon's Theme" but then I get lost o.o

  • lol! It's fairly hard, and I don't play it quuiiiiite right either. Since I recorded this I've changed how I play it anyway! lol! But stick at it, you'll get it!!!!

  • i have pretty much the same version of no one mourns the wicked amazing

  • Brilliant, thanks for this and Well Done :)

  • Hey, awesome recording my friend, top notch stuff :) What are the chords played in the opening though? I have the same book as you but I can't find them anywhere :( HELP! :)

  • That's because I played the opening by ear. And I haven't written down my version of it. Sorry. But I'll tell you it starts in the key of A minor if that helps.

  • @dannyplummer Hey, well for the broadway version, which seems pretty similar, left hand does octaves of A then E. Right hand (with inversions) does Am c, Am c, F, C b, and G B C for the last two. If that makes sense lol.

  • This is very very good!! Awesome dynamics, especially at the end. Good job!

  • Lol. Thanks.

  • You and I have exactly the same Stephen Schwartz taste, Hunchback and Wicked! It´s like watching a video of myself playing ... except for the amazingness of your rendition obviously ... Keep it up !

  • lol!

Stephen Schwartz is great!! Have you ever heard any of The Witches of Eastwick musical? That's phenomenal!!

  • I actually have a Demo Recording with Kristin Chenoweth and Ruthie Henshall of The Witches of Eastwick ... I really didnt know Stephen wrote that. My favourite song of his, has to be Meadowlark. Mad props on your work!

  • Oh no, sorry; he didn't write it, I was merely suggesting!!! I can't imagine Kristin being in it. Ruthie yes, but not Kristin!!! Who was she, Sukie?

  • The witches were Linda Balgord, Ruthie Henshall and Kristin Chenoweth. I´ve been looking for ages for music from the Apple Tree with Kristin but it just doesnt seem to be anywhere ... although there are some videos here on youtube.

  • Which was witch? (Get it? lol. Ok that was a little sad).

I've never heard of the Apple Tree.

  • "The Witches of Eastwick" was not written by Schwartz, but John Dempsey (lyrics and book) and Dana P. Rowe (music).

  • That was soooo good i wish i could play like you do.

where did you buy the book with the music in it? because i really want to get one!!

  • I have the same Wicked piano book you do!! I only wish I could play like you!! Very nice job!!

  • Practice makes perfect!!! lol

    Thanks!!!

  • wooow! luv it!

  • Thanks!!!

  • I am desperately searching for sheet music for the overture to Wicked, but to no avail. I take it you did it by ear?

  • Yeah I did this by ear. It took me a long time!!!

  • WoW!!!! I didn't see any music. Did you have that memorized?!?!?!

  • Yes, I do. I have most of them memorised, but I still prefer to have the music to prompt me with most of them. But this I know really well.

  • Wow. I'm really not good at memorizing music. :( Idk how i'm going to do marching band next year!!! You are REALLY GOOD!!!!

  • lol!!

    Thanks

  • oh its not that bad. I felt like that my freshman year.

  • are you going to Chino Hills next year? Cause I go to Don Lugo. LOW WOOD WIND SECTION LEADER!

  • Yeah I've got one more year at Canyon Hills and then I'm going to Ayala. :)

  • sorry, I should be more specific on the good news part. its at 0:57, during the triplets, you changed key, if it were in the musical, it would have been a great transition, :)

  • It IS in the musical.

  • Nice work, i only have 2 suggestions.

you changed keys when you went to the "good NEWSSSS" part. lol, keep the key?

Going off of what I hear from the soundtrack

the little 16ths at the beginning--0:20--start on a G. so G,B,F#,G do that four times and change the B to a C, do that 4 times, then it either goes to a C#, 4 times, then someone's gotta tell me where they go next because I'm not 100% sure if its D, D#, or E.

  • Thanks. I did all the extra bits mostly by ear, and I kinda wanted to make it slightly shorter, and my own version, so I messed around with keys, arrangements etc, so it would resemble the original but be my own piece of music. That's why it's a little different.

  • ok, if thats what you meant, nice creativity =)

  • have you thought about having the music playing in your ears on an mp3 player and playing along thats how i usually (try to) get my timing right lol

  • Thought about it, tried it, didn't like it.

It's hard to concentrate, and then you have to break the beat if you start playing too fast. Plus, I like to cut and add bits into it, so I'd have to play it exactly as the soundtrack plays it, and I'd have no freedom as a musician to play it at my own speed, and do my own ralls and pauses!!!!

  • verrry nice. : )

  • Thanks!!

  • Amazingly beautiful!

  • lol. Thanks

  • There we go... this is WAY better.

Not only is it at a better speed, but I think this is higher quality too. Definitely a wonderful performance.

  • Well thankyou very much!!!

  • This is beautiful.

  • Aww. Thanks

  • Great job! It's a lot nicer slowed down! Thanks for posting this!

  • You're welcome.

  • Excellent, this version is MUCH better than the other one! BRAVO!

  • Thankyou!!!

  • Beautiful! Props to you for having the patience to do it by ear...I had about five measures before I gave up and asked for the sheet music. :)

  • Most of it's from ear, but I play everything that's written in the sheet music. Up until the main tune starts it's from ear.

  • amazing!

how did u learn this because i know its not in the piano book?

  • Yeah, I did it by ear. It's so frustrating that it isn't in the book!

  • yer i know! would you be able to do a tutorial on how to play this, or could u send me sheet music on what notes u used please?

  • If I get time during the holiday, then I'll try and do a tutorial, but I am not writing sheet music for it!!!!!!!!!! Alternatively, there is an email address in the notes from the composer in the Piano/Vocal selections, that you can get the full score for free, if you so wish.

  • lmao 'a more agreeable speed'

i love this and im only on 0:11 secs.

im d/l this to mp3 to practise singing with - is that okay with you?

  • How do you download stuff from Youtube? I didn't know you could.

I'm glad you like it!!! And of course it's ok with me. I'm glad I can be useful!!!!

  • Absolutely fantastic!

  • Thankyou very much!
