I've always wondered... If Kyle is John Connors dad.. and if he had to be sent back in time in order to inseminate Sarah.. and if John himself sent Kyle back.. what happened at the very start? There had to be a very first, original time line in which nothing happened.. and so John himself could never have been born and therefore never have sent kyle back in time? In other words it's like the EFFECT happened before the CAUSE.. if that makes sense?

Observe the screen at 1:18. The greatest action star ever. This is why I cant watch action movies today, because I grew up watching Arnold kicking ass. I think T2 is the better movie all & all, but this flick is def one of a kind in it's coldness. I'm a huge fan of low budget cheese flicks and this one was a step above all of them. It's weird that this scene and the factory scene were the only scenes that the Terminator and Reese actually battle out. Most of the time Reese and Sarah are running away from the Terminator (at least after this scene). I don't have an issue with this, just saying.

@boksmutant Considering that anything but Sarah is not an objective, there is not much of a reason for the machine to focus on anyone else. Not to mention how easy it could be for Sarah to escape. It is also likely that after the gun shop incident the terminator was able to assess the current time's technologies, and come to the conclusion that no person would posess a weapon capable of neutralizing itself(how dangerous is a shotgun against its metal skeleton?).

Several reasons why this is the best Terminator film of them all. Introduction of the concept, dystopian atmosphere, awesome electronic soundtrack...but probably the best reason by far is Schwarznegger's limited dialogue.  Whatever you think about him as an actor, you've got to admit the fact that he says VERY little in this film does so much to cement his role as a badass implacable killing machine.

I love the hand breaking part in this scene, displays very effective and simply just how strong and deadly a Terminator is, nothing special is needed, like In that shitty Salvation... Terminator grabbing Connor and throwing him around, then lifting him up with one hand and choking him, how stupid is that! OK. EVERY terminator movie was screwed up thanks to dumbass plot and CGI garbage after this movie. TERMINATOR 2 got away with it "just" because the storyline fullfilled the legacy of this story more than the hollywood approach... Movies beyond this do not belong int the terminator legacy PERIOD. I do believe though, and im sure some hardcore fans will agree that "the terminator" is a one of a kind movie, because watching the 1st is really all you need to see.
