the problem with boxing is it gives an advantage to the tall guy if he's a chicken, and only wants to use his reach. The smaller guy always has to come in more or be peppered from the outside, you can dispute it all you want but that is the basis of boxing. It's incredible to watch fighters with the same height and reach fight, thats when you see real skill.

That's what I do not like about boxing. It really is more of a sport than an effective way to fight. This boxer got KO'd because he was swinging to far; while his opponent entered with a tighter hook that converged to a jab.

But it was a well time shot to the jaw; I'm amazed that guy still managed to miss with that haymaker punch. Just goes to show how slow he got from getting knocked down earlier.

I love MMA, but boxers have better technique when it comes to punching. The striking in MMA hasn't yet evolved to the level that exists in boxing and kickboxing. Grappling is at a high standard since it's easier for grapplers to transition to MMA than strikers and that at this point, really good boxers and kickboxers came make as much or more in their current sport while ADCC champs and Olympic caliber wrestlers can't.

a real fight you would use anything you got elbows and such and that alone makes it more painful and you have to worry if the guy fighting you is a expert in ground or in kicking and such and BTW you start at boxing den you start developing your skills in kick boxing or maybe in judo...den you come to mma..(striking in MMA hasn't yet evolved) tell that to fedor or to Liddell (FULL CONTACT)

Fedor has shitty punching technique, especially over the past few years. He rarely jabs, throws flurries as opposed to combos, and he often breaks his hands due to shitty technique. His strengths have always been powerful shots, ground and pound, and submissions.

If you were going to use MMA strikers with good technique. You should have picked Cro Cop, Anderson Silva, Junior Dos Santos, or even Cain.

I should point out that in a completely real fight, you are only limited by your ethics. You can punch the back of the head, strike the groin or throat, stomp, soccer kick, bite, and if you are really dirty: gouge eyes. Also, in a streetfight, an MMA fighter who tends to strike might get his ass handed to him by a boxer if he doesn't know what he is up against. He might be used to punching the shit out of people and not realize he is up against a Golden Gloves winner.
