  • Mark, Matt, Jack and go old Leo. Hell yes.

  • Métanse el copyright en la rajaaaa!!!!!

  • Why don't WMG want people to see trailers for their films?

  • I got a date with some angels!

  • I could watch this movie every day for the rest of my life and still be amazed by it.

My favorite movie of all time by far.

  • It was based on a Chinese story, “Infernal Affairs” it could have had a Latino or Italian or any cultural back story, but Martin Marcantonio Luciano Scorsese ( a good Irish name to be sure) chose Irish, guess he wanted to follow on from gangs of NY success and use the same lead, I loved the film, so well made, its just a pity that this racial minority stigmatisation, is still prevalent in modern American cinema, the film would have worked as well without the Irish or minority angle.

  • @johndee703 wrong idiot. it was based on Whitey Bulger an Irish American mobster so what the fuck are you babbling about? Scorsese is Italian dipshit.

  • @cmiller8789 I know Scorsese is Italian you triple moron, its called irony, the facts I stated are correct, question remains, why do some ratfuckers want to cast Irish Americans as gangsters you retarded gobshite;

    google/ wikipedia The_Departed

  • @johndee703 Scorsese made his fucking name off Italian mafia movies you fucking idiot. Go find some hobbies to keep yourself occupied that way you wont have to look for things to bitch and moan about fucks sake

  • Amazing movie

  • @Jesk03 Give Me Shelter- Rolling Stones

  • What's so great about this movie? I just thought it was pretty decent, nothing overly incredible about it.

  • it is one of the best fillms i have ever seen!!!!

DAMN I love this movie already

  • they might make a prequel or sequel to the departed but it might be based on the life of john martorano a hitman that used to work for james bulger

  • check out my vid mate let me know wat u think

    cheers

  • wuts the name of the song

  • Dropkick Murphys - I'm Shipping Up To Boston is the name of the song.

  • my favorite character costello damn it i love jack nicholson and dignam the best characters in the movie and the fucking rat off sulivan.

  • Although they changed the names,I think Whitey Bulger, was a major influence for Frank Costello. And I think other characters, were influenced by the story,of Whitey Bulger as well.

  • what is the end cant understand it ......is costello a good guy

  • No, but he was working with the FBI so he wouldn't be arrested by feds and for protection. He was still a bad guy though, and the FBI does really recruit people like him to gain some leverage.

  • .. watch the film...

  • this movie is a classic!!!

  • LEONARDO DI CAPRIO!

    LEGEND OF CINEMA

  • EMPEROR is an international award winning Gangster Film that exposes Triad life and the human slave trade between Europe and Asia. It has ultra violent action, fist class performances, and a gripping script. EMPEROR is a European/Asian co-production, independent cinema's answer to GOODFELLAS, and INFERNAL AFFAIRS. Watch the EMPEROR trailer in my you tube account's My Videos section!

  • who was the rat in the movie ?

  • Dicapro worked for the police as a rat in Jack Nicholsons group

Matt Damon worked for Jack Nicholson as a rat in the police department

    Dicaprio was good

    Damon was Bad

  • i still say Scorsese should have won an award for Raging Bull.

  • @BigA401 yes, and taxi driver, and goodfellas, to name a few. still, you gotta really admire what he did with this movie

  • 09tranm suck a fucking dick who the fuck cares how many times they say fuck and stop starring out your fucks you fucking homo.

  • He/She'll star out how many f*cks as he/she f*cking wants to. And loads of people care about how many swear words are used because it becomes annoying and unnecessary after a while (they try to be like goodfellas but with goodfellas it works and swearing aint an issue, while this is just stupid. And how does 09tranm not wanting to swear make him a homo. That doesn't show which gender he prefers. So your comment was entirely unnecessary and stupid fordpickupchewman555.

  • A very good realistic movie bout the east coast feds baby

  • marry me leo,

    and i love this movie

  • The Original INTERNAL AFFAIRS is better trust me. That's right for all you people that didn't know the departed is a stupid F*cking remake of Internal Affairs. I mean how many times do they say the F*cking F word.

  • First of all, the film you're talking about is entitled "Infernal Affairs", and yes, it helped to inspire Scorsese's "The Departed", but so what? This film, with this cast and their performances, was overwhelming. Finally Scorsese earned himself a long-awaited Academy Award for "Best Director" after all these years. A brilliant masterpiece!

  • They say the F bomb 237 times in this movie. Too many times, I like the story but I don't like the swearing.

  • Well fuck, that's too fucking bad fucker.

  • relax bud, it's a movie and they have to portray the characters

who fucking counts the number of "F bombs" anyway

  • cry mate

  • comment me back

someone smart please help me RZ

  • three of my favorite actors, Leonardo dicaprio, Matt damon and Mark walhberg! =)

  • And let's get real unless you're Chinese you should enjoy this more than infernal affairs. White people can relate to the characters in this movie more.

  • This movie has little dull moments. Almost every scene is memorable. I put it up there with Goodfellas for the Scorsese films.

  • Have to agree, no where near other Gangster movies, but an amazing movie - well deserving of the Oscar.

  • bye the way just because it has all the great actors and directors does not mean you have to adore it. think for yourself, question authority

  • if you name 10 movies better than this i will be suprised. i do agree with you though about how the academy awards suck now because not enough good movies come out

  • china town, a clockwork orange, psycho, vertigo, one flew over the cukoos nest, blue velvet, eraserhead, inland empire, mullholland drive, north bye northeast, the nines, 8 1/2, la dolce vita, la haine, easy rider, requiem for a dream, the rain man, taxi driver, midnight cowboy, deliverence, goodfellas, kids, i could go on but its friday and i am drunk

  • well now i know its just opinion, because this is better than china town, goodfellas, taxi driver, the rain man and easy rider. requiem for a dream sucks, la dolce vita is ok but not better, deliverance only had 1 good scene. and i never saw 8 1/2 la haine or kids. that was a good list though, i expected pulp fiction the godfather and the shawshank redemption. have you seen mystic river or heat?

  • The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Schindler's List, Vertigo, Rear Window, Apocalypse Now, A Streetcar Named Desire, Midnight Run, Dog Day Afternoon.

  • i really hope that was a joke

  • explain...

  • good film but will never be a classic when films like this win oscars you realize just how shit the world is becoming

  • ok i just watched internal affairs and the departed is wayyyy better. i dont give a fuck what came first. this movie has so many different twists in it that you gotta watch it 5 times to find all of them. they added shit that some ppl wouldnt even notice. like the babys never gonna know who its father is, or that billy and collen got everybody killed. if this movie came out the same year the godfather did, people would say this is better

  • i agree with u aternal affairs was gayer than shit and departed was the best movie ever made

  • hahahahahhahaha Oh God NO!

  • what is the name of the song that starts at 0:59 through about 1:39

  • the song is Comfortably Numb , a song by Pink Floyd, sung by Van Morrison by permission

  • Best Tim Burton movie

  • damn i love this movie

no cgi bullshit , just nice actors and a nice story

  • THIS MOVIE IS MADE BY SAME SCENARIO WHICH IS MADE MOVIE "INFERNAL AFAIRS" CHEK IT OT LOL )

this is 2006 and infernal is 2002

  • I think alot of us already know this. I have both, and I think The Departed was better. Infernal Affairs was pretty damn boring. Plus, the bad guy gets away.

  • jack nicholson is a legend, no two ways about it..but i must say leo was just mind blowing..this role was tailor made for him..his body language was just mind blowing..his eyes just made his role look so convincing

  • does anyone know this is acutally based on a chinese movie?

  • This is one of the best movies ever made!!

  • this movie is made by korean movie "infernal affairs chek it out. scenario is all the same lol

  • Dropkick Murphys - I'm Shipping Up to Boston :)

  • "When you're facing a loaded gun, what's the differance?" A marvelous line.

  • this movie was good..Great..AMAZING..Ofcourse..MARTIN SCORSESE

  • my favourite film JACK NIKOLSON IS THE BEST

  • this movie was amazing

    and huge twists!!!!

  • damn not only was this a good movie but the trailer is spectacular as well

  • Dicaprio, Damon, and Wahlberg......sorta look identical. after a year or 2 or its hard to remeber who was who rofl.

  • true, but not only after two years, i had problems distiguishing one from the other while watching the movie for the first time too...lol

  • ye i guess lol

  • I think that is the exact plan for the plot. Even in the original movie they had both the main characters looking almost alike. The reason was to portray that both characters can have different fate based on different believes and environments they were in. Even though that may not be important for the plot, but I think the outcome is a bit stronger.

  • dis iz da best movie ever made

  • "She's on her way out". "we all are, act accordingly". AWESOME FUCKING LINE!

  • leonardo Dicaprio and Jack Nicholson r very very good actors

  • best movie ever!!!!

    even better than "smokin aces"

  • LOL. What a feat, it's better than a second rate action movie. This movie is and will always be a staple in the his history of cinema.

  • No where near as good as the original

  • whats the orginal?

  • Infernal affairs, from Hong Kong 2002

  • "Departed" remake of hong kong movie "infernal affairs 1"

  • cept for the best character

  • Yup Dignam.

  • Leonardo's the best. It's hard to choose tho. Everybody is great. Alec Baldwin is particularly funny.

  • What is the name and artist of the song at 1:00 to about 1:35 or 1:40.

  • chinese version is better

  • maybe, but you have to admit Scorsese did a great job with direction.

  • what is the soundtrack(0:39-1:00)?? plz help me!!

  • shipping up to boston by dropkick murphys

  • i'm shipping up to boston

    dropckick murphys

  • this was a really violent movie, but also a really cool movie

  • can someone give me the names of more movies like this? i like this kind of movies

  • Goodfellas

    Syriana

    The Good Shepherd

    American Gangster

    pick one, homie.

  • I agree, I much prefered the ending in the original..although it did lead onto the crappy sequal lol.

Maybe thats what scorcese was afraid of?

  • you suck

  • wow isn't it amazing when directors make comebacks after so long as strong as ever?

  • One of the best crime dramas in the history of film from one of the greatest film makers to walk the earth.

  • its comfortably numb-van morrison

  • This movie is freaking amazing.

  • a gud movie but the honk kong version was a 100 times better...and im not frm hong kong...

  • why?

  • you watch the movie "infernal affairs" part 1, 2 and 3....then u'll know why....departed is copied or inspired from the 1st and 2nd part...have fun..

  • Well, the producer of this movie bought the copyright from the original producer. So, it is not exactly called "copy". And, before this producer remake the movie, he didn't watch the original series. Because he said he didn't want to. He wanted to recreate the scenes based on what he understands from the plot. That's why there are so many viewers comparing both the original and the remake. And, yes, I highly recommend the original series to all as well, at least the first movie.

  • what is the song played at near the end of the trailer.

  • The song towards the end is a cover of "Comfortably Numb", originally by Pink Floyd.

  • thanks

  • The first song is Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones

  • It's Gimme Shelter by the rolling stones.

  • Shipping off to Boston- Dropkick Murphy's.

Hope that the song you mean.

and yes agreed- on of the greatest movies ever

  • first song is just a shot away by the rolling stones

  • No it's "Gimme Shelter"

  • one of my favourite movies

by the way what is the first song called

  • One of the best films ever!

  • What an all star cast.

  • such a simple story that has been done so many time, but marty's direction is awesome. you can tell he is so into making this film bc it jumps right off the screen at you

  • Greatest fucking movie ever

  • the first 20 minutes is probably my favorite part

  • agreed.

  • i love this movie wahlberg is great in it

  • one of the best movies of all time. Dicaprio is one hell of an actor.

  • 1:54

  • this scene is perfection!!!

  • u think this movie has the best cast ever made. i mean is 4 great actors in one movie. 5 stars all the way

  • I Love THE MUSIC IS SO COOL" AND I THE DVD

  • Actually that's true there's a whole article talking about how Hollywood is running out of idea's thats why theyre remaking so many older films and copying asian movies. But it goes both ways Foreign film creators steal loads of films from Hollywood as well.

  • good movie :)

  • what's the song at 1:20?

  • Comfortably numb, by Pink Floyd

  • American copies Asian films alot, and Americans should admit that they are copying Asian's idea. You can give me a thumps down, but this issue wont go away.

  • Do some researches first. The producer of this movie bought the copyright. They didn't just copy the idea.

I can name you some of the shows that Asian countries copied from foreign countries, such as the Dancing With the Stars, and the British Got Talent. And you know what? Asian countries, such as China, didn't pay for the copyright. Because they modified the shows a bit and released as their own.

  • right right, they paid to COPY, you are right. They were still copying none the less :P

  • hey russianpimp, the departed aint a rip-off of internal affairs its a remake

  • Excellent movie. 5 stars

  • the departed really was a rip-off of internal affairs which had several sequals but it was a damn good one! one of my favorite movies.

  • i think most of u are referring to 'infernal affairs' as internal affairs here...cheers!!

  • who playes frank costelo?

  • Jack Nicholson

  • thx

  • One of the best movies ever made!! Flawless performance by the cast, too. Especially... well all of 'em!

  • hey can someone tell me the name of the song in the first seconds of the movie pls ??? thx
