  • Look up this video on youtube >> "See What Flash Can do with the Molehill 3D API "

The new stuff coming to Flash is going to KILL HTML5 , and silverlight .

  • I'll never buy any apple product even if they supported flash with their moms and sisters. How bout that.

  • Why i buy a mac? DOUCHE!!!!!

  • DOUCHE!

  • The only reason flash is here to today is that it made our time on the internet better. Simply said if its not broke why fix it. I think Apple is wrong for not supporting flash and its not putting there consumers first. The arrogance of apple to do this is wrong.

  • Flashblock in browser <3 Use flash only when you need it :)

  • "I can say Flash can be resource-intensive and can be very unstable..." Then why do you only make Flash videos here on YouTube? You should try uploading 720p or even 1080p HTML5 videos instead, same things just less of what I quoted you on.

And its not like you have anything to lose on it.

  • only thing i see in html5 is better streaming file, but still can't do smart stuff that flash only could

  • Wires's review shows the current issue in retrospect:

"As simple as it may sound for web developers to switch to different standards, the transition to HTML5 for video playback would be complex if not brain racking, using older outdated video methods which in the past posed quality issues. There’s no agreed upon video format for HTML5, the proposed codec standards are already outdated, and support varies greatly from browser to browser."

  • If you can't run a simple game of Tetris on the device and it doesn't give you enough battery power to play longer than 30 seconds and it's choppy or freezes that's a bad sign about the hardware.

  • @KnightChatX stop being a flash fanboy. flash is old now, thats why google even deved their own version of it

  • @redspade04 When i tested the early Google Video beta there was development focused with the VLC Plugin and the VLC version showed promise, Youtube had a more developed userbase and network already boasting heavy video streaming and handling bandwidth and many users simultaneosly and the Flash video player and technologies rolled out major improvements, Google went the Youtube route and opted implementing Flash, there is also Javascript which the syntax in Flash and HTML works seamlessly.

  • @redspade04 As you know even Google is old, however, that does nothing for the success of the technologies involved, as time goes on actively developed technologies implement more, bug fixes, improvements, enhancements, and often simplified structures. Google has a number of projects, one of which video codec competes with one implementation but it's a codec.

  • Hulu says HTML5 is not yet ready for Prime Time.

  • HTML5 IS OPEN until apple puts it's foot into it and it will be locked down stolen and copyrighted by apple.. Apple Is Doing This Like The Tried To Push Firewire Vs USB Onto the public

  • Flash is on Nokia, and soon on RIM and many other telephone platforms.. Apple is going to lose like HD DVD did over BluRay. I jailbreak Iphones to make them useful. Pretty balanced commentary btw.

  • Flash is kinda shite. It's unstable and hogs resources. Once HTML5 catches up I know I'd definitely convert.

  • I discovered that the Adobe Flash Player settings privacy manager can effect the way web sites are displayed/perform/render.

  • Its true, putting up HTML5 as the saviour to the problems of flash is too early of course. I feel the reason though people say HTML5 will kill flash is for the simple reason that it is OPEN unlike Flash. HTML5 may not kill flash but it will certainly make web development easier. Adobe has the internet and graphic development industries by the balls, its not going anywhere. I do hope though they get a good kick in the balls themselves.

  • great video

  • perl scripts with CGI. I remember those "spaghetti" days; embedding massive amounts of html in the script.

  • Gotta say I really liked this vid. Thanks for all videos mr. bit. I know that the iPad doesn't have Flash compatibility which I wish they would leave up to the user. I don't mind HTML5 I just wish that Apple would allow users the ability to install Flash as an option. I know the general users won't go through the trouble of configuring an app to install I just wish for us more tech. savvy users that Apple would give us that option.

  • it will take it prolly in 5yrs if flash dont lower its power hoggness. main reason is cause the netbooks and tablets and cell phones. flash is working on a new one that will be a lot like html 5 but how long have we heard that, so props to html5 for coming in and doing what flash are taking so long on.

  • @redspade04 Dunno about that Power Hogness anymore, after a few seconds my iTouch 3G shuts out automatically, then when i'm in process directly using it it's back on again, I don't see it using anymore or less power when it's used normally as any other time and then it shuts right back out like a light. Also alot of those benchmarks vary depending on the machines and/or device performed on as well as the software program designed.

  • I think the Ipad not only lacks the option of flash but it also lacks the most common of common features such a device should have standard such as USB port, SD card slot, and expandable memory and hard drive. It is obvious that Apple plays the game of keeping a certain market share and keeping that market share keep upgrading by buying the newer model.

  • yep, in large part much of the product is refreshed and purchased by the same demographic.

  • @GlockNinja I predict iPad will never get those because it doesn't need it. stuff like USB and SD are not necessary when the bluetooth, email, and facebook get all your data off of it and on other devices. So when people are buying iPads and they still don't have usb and sd, then competitors will just have to suck it up and get over it.

  • @rifall taking away options so you are dependent and limited to only one way is the way they corner you into their way of doing things. Take away SD, USB, and Disc Drives....then you are reliant on bandwidth usage that runs your minutes out to cause you to pay more monthly costs. They take away features to save themselves manufacturing costs without passing the saving down to you yet they give you a lesser product. I dont' know. Maybe I am talking out of my butt.

  • HTML5 and Flash will co-exist with each other much like you have so many different audio or video codecs. Flash will still dominate, however it's good to see competition in this area even if the normal computer user doesn't care or even know what flash or HTML5 means.

  • I was thinking of that same thing, Flash needs to rewrite, however that would mean they would need to rewrite the tools to make Flash. It's a lot of time and money just to improve performance. My concern is mainly security with flash. If Adobe would Sandbox Flash it would solve some of the security issues with it. Flash is just a gold mine for exploitation.

  • There is a third outcome neither die & both are used i mean did flash kill java applets? No not really they are still used, nowhere near as much as flash but they are still used. So why is flash more popular? From what i've heard its able to do things that applets cannot & thats what its all about imo devs will switch if it offers them the ability to do more. HTML5 will have to be able to do this if it doesn't it wont overtake flash imo.

  • yes they can co exist and is why the title use & rather than vs. Java moved to javafx for more flash type mediums.

  • Hint hint (progress bar) lol. Thanks for the vid mrbit great as always.

  • Screw the HTML5 Beta, I'm using a mplayer plugin to watch youtube videos.

Both HTML5 and Flash Make my fans spin 88 Miles Per Hour on my 2.93 Jigahertz Pentium 4.

  • I think flash has got too big for it's self, so many people rely on it for complete websites etc. I think flash should be used less on websites, as for HTML5 it needs a lot of work and I am not really a big fan of FOSS because of it's all your software has to be FOSS and Closed is evil.

  • Thanks for another interesting video Mr.Bit:)

  • Flash is fine, and probably will not die soon. The Starcraft II beta uses flash for the UI and possibly the full game. Best reason for Flash to live on is Starcraft II the best game ever. There are thousands of flash games that many people play every day. Flash is not going to die any soon and the most of the mac fans are against flash because they have the crappy version.

  • HTML may not replace flash for the web anytime soon but to say its importance isnt being reduced is wrong. For sites I use like Youtube, HTML5 WILL replace flash. when I go to youtube im gonna have html5 sooner or later. while html5 wont completely replace flash it will replace a big part of it. most users dont give a shit. its early but i see it happening, flash is loosing its hold. this early and we already see flash loosing ground.

  • the point is not anytime soon, they must resolve the codec issue and standards across browsers, to this day standards across browsers is still not met. Lots of hurdles, Flash being private has an advantage on that, they write the plugin and not standards have to be met or argued.

  • You're saying Apple should have incorporated flash in some way. I'm not interested in seeing flash die, most are not. Just rewrite flash.

  • @michaelmckeever9 adobe doesnt want to spend the resources (money) to rewrite flash... thats why they dont... adobe got mad at apple for changing something..... cant remember was a while ago.. i believe it was the OS

  • HTML 5 will force Adobe to rewrite flash.

  • @michaelmckeever9 , it already has.. Adobe Flash CS5 will have the feature to export ActionScript to HTML5 Canvas Tag.

  • @doh11 No adobe offered to work with Apple to implement Flash.

Adobe on Tuesday evening said it is ceasing investment in a software tool that enables Flash developers to port software into native iPhone and iPad apps, according to Mike Chambers, Adobe’s principal product manager for Flash developer relations.

  • @doh11

“The primary goal of Flash has always been to enable cross-browser, platform and device development,” Chambers wrote in a blog post. “This is the exact opposite of what Apple wants. They want to tie developers down to their platform, and restrict their options to make it difficult for developers to target other platforms

Hulu and corporate Movie and TV Show industry leaders haves decided HTML5 is not ready.

  • @doh11

Adobe is reacting to a new rule in the iPhone developer agreement, which stipulates that iPhone and iPad apps must be coded with Apple-approved programming languages, such as C++ or Objective C. If enforced, the rule would effectively ban any apps coded with Adobe’s Packager for iPhone, a tool enabling Flash-coded software to be easily converted into native iPhone apps, released last week with Adobe CS5.

Faced with Apple’s new rule, Adobe pulled the plug on Packager for iPhone.

  • @doh11

Steve Jobs, say the move was necessary to retain quality of apps in the App Store and nimbleness of updating the platform. The same could have happened to HTML5's concept implementation if it disregarded Apple's policies.

  • tell that to adobe, lol.

  • The developers of HTML will, or some other competing tech.

  • Good topic

  • From many of the Flash games and cartoons I used to try to open in Flash many years ago, I've found that the developers have password protected their files. Although most can still be cracked open using a decompiler, my point is that I'm not sure if developers want their code as easily seen by pressing ctrl+u.

  • Although I'm sure there's a big amount of people who don't mind open-source, and I say good on them, too.

  • I'll say this, I haven't watched your video yet, but going into it, I currently prefer html5 over flash, even though I've become accustom to flash... now, on to watching the video

  • I don't care ...just give me one, damn it ...lol

I think you messed up your video editing ... you cut off most of the vid :O)
