So guys what do you think should there be an H6 with the propulsion drive modernized, say, by replacing with AC motors like those in US New York R142A or BART commuter trains? In Japan this has become quite commonplace in recent years. Trains refurbrished in such a way have bodywork dating back to as early as the 1970s but with powertrains as new as 2006 designs.
uh btw, when you say that the traction motors are going to fire up, isn't that the interior's A/C fan being activate ??? I remember whne I hear that sound I felt a gush of cool air coming from the vents! :)
The A/C units are indeed loud here. But there could be, I guess, a fan cooler unit to cool the whole powertrain down, or a motor pump that injects air into the air tank for use by the secondary air brakes, door engines, and so froth. These also produce loud noises on operation. But anyway, the propulsion drive is always the most power consuming.
I believe that the H6s have the most powerful AC, even more powerful than the T1.

Wow the acceleration on that thing is pretty nice for such an old subway.

No, you can hear HVAC fans before the traction starts up.

Oh ok. :) Also the lights flickers when they start up right? I said to myself, wow the A/C are powerhogs! lol!

When the traction motors start up, Yes. Not sure about the HVAC though.

Problably the traction motor are more power hungry than the HVAC. Seems more logical to me!

And why do the H6's vibrate like that every time they stop

I thought the Bloor Danforth Line didn't have automated stop anouncments yet
