Senator Levin's complete statement is available here: levin. senate. gov/newsroom/release. cfm?id=313722
An excerpt from Levin's statement at the Foreign Policy Association 2009 Annual Dinner : "The bottom line in this debate was articulated by the Director of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair, who said recently that, the damage [that coercive techniques] have done to our interests far outweighed whatever benefit they gave us.
The world is not unaware of the moral considerations.
Wake up America! If you're not getting it now, it may be too late. We are supposed to be a country of laws and every single one was broken. If he got a bj, we'd impeach him?
"Sadly true, but the gop is disappearing quite rapidly. "
And that's really unfortunate. We need a genuine two party system. The true GOP is an asset to the US. However, it was the ultra far right whacko fringe neocon fruitcakes who've done the damage. Bush and brother Jeb, Cheney, Rove, Libby, Wolfowitz, Bolton, Kristol, Rice, Rumsfeld, and others are the agents of evil. THEY were the real terrorists.
I couldn't Agree more. I can't stand the GOP right now, but to be fair, the old GOP has a far better record before Clinton (which is the era when the GOP went extremist).
We do need and should have two party system. But the GOP has basically turned into an American Al-Qaeda, by which they let there religious beliefs to guide all there polices.
I could only hop that the GOP catches up with the current Times. Because sooner or later they will be in power again.
True. But now, the gop has aligned itself with the extreme right-wing crazies that shot Dr. Tiller. These radical nut cases need to be in prison or institutions, not civil service.

Though their shift wasn't to the far right of the political spectrum.. it was actually a shift towards the left.. no other republican president has EVER spent the kind of money bush and his fellow republicans have.. I'd consider a far "Right" movement being more like a Ron Paul whom I support.. Less government nanny state, less spending, less war, less less less... with less it directly relates to more more more for us the individuals, more money, more civil rights, more Freedom. more Jobs.
"Less government nanny state, less spending, less war, less less less...."
Except that we needed MORE regulation in the financial sector. Deregulation (and lack of honesty and ethics) brought us to this economic disaster.
In many ways, the disaster resulted from the lessons at Harvard Business School ( and other MBA schools) during the late '60s, '70s, '80s, and into the '90s. (Geo W Bush, HBS '75.)

I dont put alot of trust into lawmakers and regulators to come up with "REAL" consumer protection.. watching how many politicians and these individuals recieve massive sum's of cash from these lenders which only leads me to believe the proposal of more regulation only protects large corporations from being effected by these "Rules" ..
Well, surprise, surprise, Bush and Cheney lie a lot. This is quite a revelation. Only the most insecure, power trip, white supremacists, think Bush and Cheney did a good job. To them, anything that demeans an opponent, is a good thing. They are the ones who never grew up and never stopped whining; they are bullies.

You're 100% right. Unfortunately, a significant number (but fortunately not a majority) of Americans believe this obscene misconception.
