Culex is the hidden boss in Super Mario RPG. He has no connection to Final Fantasy, which brings the question, why did they use the song from Final Fantasy IV Bosses? Also, Final Fantasy IV is Final Fantasy II in North America, Because the original II and III were not released, that's why North Americas Final Fantasy III is Actually Final Fantasy VI.
...i don't get why people post mario paint versions of a song that don't sound ANYTHING like the original, i mean listen to this! it sounds as if it were eaten, crapped, eaten again, puked, and and eaten once again, i hope you've gotten better, cuz it's fucking 2011 now.
@sonicar364 It's not neccesarily to make them sound nice (thought they usually do) it's so they can show skill or because they feel like it. Seriously, there are some pretty fucking hard songs to write in MPC, and while there are those who redo music in MPC, there are some who make custom compositions.
@InuYashafanboyee uhhh... so you're saying this is your version of the song? cuz if it's that, then i'll apologize right now, but if it isnt, then i wanna see a 2011 MPC song from you so i can see how much you've improved.
@sonicar364 No it isn't mine, I tried using MPC once and couldn't really do shit with it. If I honestly wanted to, I could go grab a piece of sheet music and transfer it into MPC, it isn't that hard. Although I would like to know what you mean by a 2011 song because honestly, the music nowadays sucks. I would rather listen to the original 8-bit Mario Overworld theme that anything else on the radio today, I'm not saying I do, I listen to slightly more advanced video game music, but you understand
@InuYashafanboyee well, what i mean with a 2011 song, is a song you make this actual year, because this song is from 2007, so by now you must have some improved MPC skills. also, i agree about most of the music from today being suckish, because trust me, it really, REALLY does.
@sonicar364 Yeah, you've been having a conversation with someone who was just innocently passing by.
Anyways, like I said, if you want to see how I've improved, look up one of my more recent works. The Neon Genesis Evangelion intro is easily the most complex one I've done to date, so I guess I'd recommend that one.
This is a really interesting interpretation. I hope you are proud of this. It's not perfect but its extremely good... mistakes and all. I'm not sure the original is so dissonant. Personally i like it as much maybe more than the original.
You would be wrong. I just don't really care enough to change the description. Note the comment I made below where I called it IV. I refer to all of the FFs by their normal numbers.
@Carlitonsp1 Well, not anymore. Either they fixed it for the DS remake, or you're wrong. It was originally going to be FFII, but it wasn't. Good thing, because FFII is better, and the story isn't as cheesy as IV's. Not to mention I like II's music better. But that's me.
@Carlitonsp1 IMO it was retarded how they decided to do the system for Japan / NA. That easily confuses the hell out of people especially when they realize that it goes 1, 4, 6, then continues on to 7 and onward XD
This is the Final Fantasy IV Boss Theme. The programmers of SMRPG (some of whom had worked on FFIV) slipped this in with a Final Fantasy-styled secret boss as his music.
You got the description wrong, it was Final Fantasy II in America and IV in Japan. When they started releasing the Finest Fantasy for Advance series, they corrected it as IV.
People: I FAILED. I do not know what hallucinogens I was consuming when I thought that the bassline in the bridge was right. I appreciate the compliments, but... no, it's just bad.
I'm sorry... but I'm sure it's Final Fantasy IV for JAPAN (and known as Final Fantasy II in North America). With respect to North America, it's Final Fantasy 1 for NES, Final Fantasy 2 and Final Fantasy 3 for SNES. With respect to Japan, it's FF1, FF2, FF3 for NES. FF4, FF5, FF6 for SNES. (Yeah, Japan had a few more releases than North America).
Well, it was orignally used as the boss theme in Final Fantasy IV (Final Fantasy II in Japan), but since SquareEnix helped make Super Mario RPG with Nintendo (as I heard) they had no trouble using the popular song again, since Final Fantasy is one of SquareEnix's most popular games.
I appreciate the morale boost, but let's face it: I've made more and better things then this wacked-out bassline. The only reason I don't simply remove it is because I keep it as a reminder of what I once was, to compare to what I have become.
Knowing whether the notes are off or not has nothing to do with time spent playing games as much as it does musical inclination. I could listen to a piece one or two times and know exactly how it sounds. That said, I'll give you 4 stars, for the effort and because it was mostly good =)
Paper Mario wasn't nearly as good or as thrilling as SMRPG. SMRPG just has a certain charm and fun factor that Paper Mario didn't have.
SMRPG *was* made in partnership with Squaresoft, so of COURSE it was THAT good. Paper Mario just sucks in comparison. But Paper Mario is still a great game in its own category.

If I recall correctly, Culex was the strongest boss in the game, stronger than the normal end boss for the game. I remember spasming when I finally beat him.

I would always have saved the game before i fight culex cause he is the only boss that was actually a challange for me even though I beat him within 5 minutes
I liked the game, but most of the music seemed a little "corny", so-to-speak. But the music at the parts where you composed the music at Tadpole Pond and the Culex battle theme were great.
@pokeymanTrainer
Culex was a secret boss/easteregg reference in supermario Rpg and the same music was used during the battle.

I would always have saved the game before i fight culex cause he is the only boss that was actually a challange for me even though I beat him within 5 minutes

I was expecting, just as so many other Mario Paint tries, a massive failure.
You. Get. 5. Stars.
My mouth dropped. You win. Whee! CULEX RAWR.

I liked the game, but most of the music seemed a little "corny", so-to-speak. But the music at the parts where you composed the music at Tadpole Pond and the Culex battle theme were great.
