  • @pokeymanTrainer

Culex was a secret boss/easteregg reference in supermario Rpg and the same music was used during the battle.

  • Culex is the hidden boss in Super Mario RPG. He has no connection to Final Fantasy, which brings the question, why did they use the song from Final Fantasy IV Bosses? Also, Final Fantasy IV is Final Fantasy II in North America, Because the original II and III were not released, that's why North Americas Final Fantasy III is Actually Final Fantasy VI.

  • dude this is sick! fuck all the nerds complaining where its really from. i think its awesome dude

  • It's not FF2 in Japan. lol.

  • When was Culex in FF IV? I thought I beat that game in its entireity

  • @njfusionguy It's the Final Fantasy IV Boss Music, which was also used for the boss Culex in Super Mario RPG.

  • culex remembers me of one of my spore creations coolex

  • Culex made 55 accounts and disliked it

  • @artmaster500

Artmaster500 made a stupid youtube post and I disliked it.

  • ...i don't get why people post mario paint versions of a song that don't sound ANYTHING like the original, i mean listen to this! it sounds as if it were eaten, crapped, eaten again, puked, and and eaten once again, i hope you've gotten better, cuz it's fucking 2011 now.

  • @sonicar364 It's not neccesarily to make them sound nice (thought they usually do) it's so they can show skill or because they feel like it. Seriously, there are some pretty fucking hard songs to write in MPC, and while there are those who redo music in MPC, there are some who make custom compositions.

  • @InuYashafanboyee uhhh... so you're saying this is your version of the song? cuz if it's that, then i'll apologize right now, but if it isnt, then i wanna see a 2011 MPC song from you so i can see how much you've improved.

  • @sonicar364 You could always, I don't know, just look at my uploaded videos and look at the most recent Mario Paint video I have uploaded.

  • @sonicar364 No it isn't mine, I tried using MPC once and couldn't really do shit with it. If I honestly wanted to, I could go grab a piece of sheet music and transfer it into MPC, it isn't that hard. Although I would like to know what you mean by a 2011 song because honestly, the music nowadays sucks. I would rather listen to the original 8-bit Mario Overworld theme that anything else on the radio today, I'm not saying I do, I listen to slightly more advanced video game music, but you understand

  • @InuYashafanboyee well, what i mean with a 2011 song, is a song you make this actual year, because this song is from 2007, so by now you must have some improved MPC skills. also, i agree about most of the music from today being suckish, because trust me, it really, REALLY does.

  • @sonicar364 You DO realize that I'm the uploader/video author, not inuyashafanboyee, right?

  • @angrytigerP wait, you mean i...did i just...?...wow i'm an idiot.

  • @sonicar364 Yeah, you've been having a conversation with someone who was just innocently passing by.

Anyways, like I said, if you want to see how I've improved, look up one of my more recent works. The Neon Genesis Evangelion intro is easily the most complex one I've done to date, so I guess I'd recommend that one.

  • @angrytigerP yeah why don't i go do that.

  • It plays off key.

  • i was looking for something cool. So i clicked on this, thinking it was cool. Only it wasn't, it was EPIC

  • 56 People missed the Like button.

  • FF6 may be my all-time favorite Final Fantasy game, but nothing can touch the sheer epicness of the boss battle music from FF4. Not even Dancing Mad.

  • hey how do you make those symbols next to the music, sorry i dont take music class so try to make the symbols easily understood as possible

  • @MegaBoshi these are made with the Ctrl and Shift keys, they make the note sound higher and lower.

  • You got a lot of the notes wrong, but kudos! It was pretty good.

  • YOU SPOONY BARD - Tellah

  • @roxasfruit Judge: What? I'm no spoony bard!

    Phoenix Wright FTW!

  • This is a really interesting interpretation. I hope you are proud of this. It's not perfect but its extremely good... mistakes and all. I'm not sure the original is so dissonant. Personally i like it as much maybe more than the original.

  • Why is the tune so messed up, was it on purpose or was it a mistake, not trying to be mean, sorry:S just noticed

  • Something doesnt sound right at 0:45....like its off key or something

  • so... why are the themes the same? were both these games produced by the same company?

  • @dragames Right in one.

  • thumbs up if you think this music is awsome

  • Is the bass line in the wrong key? It sounds as if it clashes.

  • Aside from the straying bass in that one place, this is awesome!^^

  • I don't find a boss battle with this music in final fantasy 4

  • @kirby8890

Ugh... Almost every boss battle has this theme

  • @kirby8890 What version of it are you PLAYING?

  • @Flaminglog DS version

  • @kirby8890 go FF4 mist dragon or octomammoth xD

  • i wonder why they used the same music for 2 way different games

  • @gvcats49 Same Company.

  • it was FFII only in north America.Sorry me for telling you that X3

  • last part is off key

  • god damn, this is amazing!

  • Kudos on how you did this.

And i'm not sure if it being flat or sharp was on purpose. but it made the music ever so menacing (:

  • i beat this boss first try no lie no fucking around i did (although i was like lvl 21 when i beat him)

  • You really tried, and you are doing better than I could, but a few notes were flat.Let me know if you do a new version

  • couple wrong notes there, bud

  • FTW DUDE! can u do other boss from SMRPG?!? cuz this shows all the skillz u has

  • @devouroringone think hes bad u try if u can bitch....

  • CAN YOU DO THE VICTORY MUSIC

  • I think you are a bit confused in your description, it's Final Fantasy 2 for North Americans, and Final Fantasy 4 for the Japanese.

  • I don't think he cares, be he should

  • You would be wrong. I just don't really care enough to change the description. Note the comment I made below where I called it IV. I refer to all of the FFs by their normal numbers.

  • It's not considered Final Fantasy II in America anymore, since FFIV has been re-released twice under it's appropriate title in America.

  • @Carlitonsp1 I believe that this is Four. Not Two

  • @Carlitonsp1 and 4 for Europe, which cannot be forgotten in the list.

  • @Carlitonsp1 Well, not anymore. Either they fixed it for the DS remake, or you're wrong. It was originally going to be FFII, but it wasn't. Good thing, because FFII is better, and the story isn't as cheesy as IV's. Not to mention I like II's music better. But that's me.

  • @Carlitonsp1 IMO it was retarded how they decided to do the system for Japan / NA. That easily confuses the hell out of people especially when they realize that it goes 1, 4, 6, then continues on to 7 and onward XD

  • @Carlitonsp1 the ds version has this music

  • @Carlitonsp1 no you have it reversed

  • wait they used the same song for 2 completely different games?

  • Yes.

This is the Final Fantasy IV Boss Theme. The programmers of SMRPG (some of whom had worked on FFIV) slipped this in with a Final Fantasy-styled secret boss as his music.

  • Nice.

  • How do you get the b or the # before a tone?

  • Press shift and enter the note for sharp. #

Press control and the note for flat. ♭

  • skillz!!!!!!!

  • You got the description wrong, it was Final Fantasy II in America and IV in Japan. When they started releasing the Finest Fantasy for Advance series, they corrected it as IV.

    That aside, this is awesome.

  • It's Final Fantasy but it is the the Finest! lol

  • good !

  • u hav ur discription wrong. it was known as ff2 in america, not japan. FF belongs to the japanese. They wouldnt release it America first.

  • I love this!

  • if you really don't like it, then why not do it again, but better?

  • People: I FAILED. I do not know what hallucinogens I was consuming when I thought that the bassline in the bridge was right. I appreciate the compliments, but... no, it's just bad.

  • @angrytigerP Liar. You have succeeded in forming a...

"Parallel World" version of the boss theme.

I could see Cecil and co. in a fight against some strange monster in a

    different world.

  • i know this song from smrpg and i'd always fight culex for the music^^

  • best song I've ever heard

  • I'm sorry... but I'm sure it's Final Fantasy IV for JAPAN (and known as Final Fantasy II in North America). With respect to North America, it's Final Fantasy 1 for NES, Final Fantasy 2 and Final Fantasy 3 for SNES. With respect to Japan, it's FF1, FF2, FF3 for NES. FF4, FF5, FF6 for SNES. (Yeah, Japan had a few more releases than North America).

  • its also for a boss battle in super Mario rpg named culex

  • for those who don't get what kaokengoku is saying is he's correcting the video discription. It says "Boss Theme for Final Fantasy IV (FFII in Japan)"

and he's saying that it's backwards, it's from FFII (also known as FFIV in Japan)

And it's culex's theme from SMRPG, everyone I know knows that.

  • Well, it was orignally used as the boss theme in Final Fantasy IV (Final Fantasy II in Japan), but since SquareEnix helped make Super Mario RPG with Nintendo (as I heard) they had no trouble using the popular song again, since Final Fantasy is one of SquareEnix's most popular games.

  • Culex should have been the boss of Subspace Emissary instead of Tabuu. Culex even has his own cool theme!

  • Yes, if by "his own theme" you mean "the one from FFIV, which came out 5 years earlier" but yeah, it's a great song, and definitely a classic.

  • Ive been searching for this! best ive seen!!

    5 stars!

  • No, it isn't. First of all, I remade it so that it was slightly better (it's still out of tune).

Then, SatoshiLyish made a much better one. Check the "Related Videos" to the right.

  • Dont sell your self short. this is amazing to me. i would be killing myself if i tried to make somethin like this, let alone put it on youtube.

  • I appreciate the morale boost, but let's face it: I've made more and better things then this wacked-out bassline. The only reason I don't simply remove it is because I keep it as a reminder of what I once was, to compare to what I have become.

  • No...yours is WAYYYY better.

  • No, he's right; while some of this is far better than I could do in a couple hours, I notice that it is still out of tune.

But I respect the effort made. It's a great theme.

  • hahaha although that was a hilarious comment, i still thought it was impressive

  • So they used this song in two completely unrelated games? Hmm.

    Nice rendition.

  • They were both related by Square and Nintendo. Both developed by Square and both published on SNES.

  • And so you know, at one part, the cars and hearts are out of tune.

  • Completely.

  • Are you going to make a fixed version though? Because this is one of the best emulations of songs on Mario Paint Composer that I've seen.

  • this is originally a final fantasy based theme.... but they used it once for a boss in smrpg. SMRPG FTW!

  • Of course! And isn't that against copyright laws to use a song made by a diffrent company-or anything copyrighted?!

  • SMRPG was made by Squaresoft. SS owned the FF franchise.

  • Well, not fully. Nintendo probably wouldn't allow it.

  • this makes me wana play super mario rpg again! :D

  • Totaly Rocks!!!

  • Culex seems like he would've been a good boss in smash bros brawl.

  • I would love Culex, instead or Taboo

  • yah. i really wish that metal gear was a boss also in the factory stage. it shuda been ridley and metal gear not 2 ridleys

  • Sorry I'm such a n00b when it comes to Final Fantasy but do you actually fight Culex in FF? Or is he just in SMRPG?

  • you don't fight him in FF, he's just a final fantasy "style" boss.

  • Sweet

  • is this in ssbb??? it soundz like it should (good comment ;) )

  • thats a pwn idea i wish it was if it is i havent unlocked it, it would be epic

  • a little off

  • Not quite btw FFII in America not Japan

  • its the boss fight music in ffIV too. main boss. not mini boss. Mario 7 stars owns.

  • Knowing whether the notes are off or not has nothing to do with time spent playing games as much as it does musical inclination. I could listen to a piece one or two times and know exactly how it sounds. That said, I'll give you 4 stars, for the effort and because it was mostly good =)

  • Isnt this song also on Final Fantasy II?

  • Final Fantasy II and III weren't released in North America so what was released as Final Fantasy II in the US was actually Final Fantasy IV in Japan.

  • Yeah. Well, really Final Fantasy IV, but yeah, it's the boss theme on that game.

  • People who say that the notes are off need a life. Only retards who play games that much would know.

Great song. It must have taken alot of effort to finish this. 4/5 =)

  • Agreed, it is very off and very creepy sounding...

  • There are a bunch of notes in the middle that are completely off X_X

  • You must win an award for this great work!

  • Simply awesome...5/5

  • bass lines are a little weird... but it was very good =]

  • this is GREAT!!!

  • I give you massive props for doing these songs on Mario Paint!! Must've taken you hours! sounds great

  • it is the ff4 boss theme

  • this sounds like the FF4 boss theme!!!!

  • it is

  • That's because it is. Look at the title.

  • Im pretty sure I learned the Roman numbering system in Grade 2.. lol! He musta had the chicken pox that week

  • I had chicken pox that week! Didn't stop me from learning! And just to clear things up, I was a geek back then.

  • i've been looking for this one for a while, i think it's near perfect. great job, 5/5

  • Paper Mario wasn't nearly as good or as thrilling as SMRPG. SMRPG just has a certain charm and fun factor that Paper Mario didn't have.

SMRPG *was* made in partnership with Squaresoft, so of COURSE it was THAT good. Paper Mario just sucks in comparison. But Paper Mario is still a great game in its own category.

  • paper mario was gonna be mario rpg 2 but people from square didnt work there anymore.i think XD

  • oh, that would make sense. now that square is remaking some FF titles for the DS and making new stuff for the Wii, I think it's about time they get together and make RPG 2!

  • you and many others, such as myself! :D

(i think theres a site somewhere for a SMRPG 2)

  • aha, this is probubly my favorite boss in smrpg because of this song.

  • i have mario paint so i know thats damn hard to make!

  • Good work.... but the bass is off for a good portion of the song.

  • i think SMRPG is better than final fantasy IV. whos with me?

  • I never played SMRPG, but I saw videos of it and it looked way more fun than FFIV.

  • i played FFIV and i got bored instantly SMRPG might be one of the best rpgs ever made

  • yeah its a good game, but i like the paper mario series better. fun! except the 3rd one, it's not really an RPG.

  • paper mario is fun but this is a true rpg for me

  • Okay guys, stop with the spamming (this convo is off-topic enough to count as such).

But... when Nintendo announced a new Mario RPG for the N64, I was psyched to play the nice top-down 3/4 perspective Mario themed RPG in the then-next gen.

    Paper Mario disappointed.

  • i agree!

  • This is extremely impressive. It sounds a LOT like the original in parts, and is very well done. Awesome job man!

  • Good composing. I especially like when it starts off...sounds exactly like the original

  • It's Final Fantasy #. IDK the exact number, don't care.

  • Awesome. I like how you avoided the animal sounds like the cat/dog/yoshi that mostly everyone sticks in their redone songs.

  • I thought it was FFII in America, and FFIV in Japan.

  • It is FF2 in America, we're FINALLY calling it FF4.

  • I think he was referring to how the description indicates "FFII in Japan", which would clearly be an inaccurate way to describe the game.

  • I see. Which would be inaccurate. Because this is from 4, not 2, so he's wrong.

  • Super Mario RPG was the first RPG I ever played, I think I was like 10 years old.

If I recall correctly, Culex was the strongest boss in the game, stronger than the normal end boss for the game. I remember spasming when I finally beat him.

Was always perplexed how he ended up having the boss music for FF4 as his theme though.

    - Lin

  • Square Enix and nintendo both made the game, so Swaure enix through this battle in as a homage to final fantasy

  • Just like almost every other Squaresoft RPG... the hidden optional boss is ALWAYS stronger than the final boss.

    SMRPG: Culex

    FF7: Emerald/Ruby Weapons

    FF8: Omega Weapon

FF9: That giant apocalypse ball thingy.

  • That giant apocalypse ball thingy.

    you mean Ozma?

  • Yes. I never played 9 after disc 2, because it suddenly got un-interesting to me after that. But yes, that's what I was referring to, thank you. :)

  • ozma is a pain in the ass. I thought it'd be hades that would be that boss, guess not though.

  • 4/5 only because the bass [hearts] are off key

  • ugh hes so hard (Culex)

  • that's what she said

  • I am matter. I am antimatter. I can see your past. I can see your future. I consume all. I will consume YOU!

    -Culex

  • Wow, this is amazing and so reminiscent of my days of playing FFII/IV on my SNES. Of course, I played SMRPG, but never fought Culex.

  • ffII in US ff IV in japan

  • Wow! Thats amazing dude! I don't think I've ever heard it done so well on Mario Paint.

  • I would always have saved the game before i fight culex cause he is the only boss that was actually a challange for me even though I beat him within 5 minutes

  • I was expecting, just as so many other Mario Paint tries, a massive failure.

    You. Get. 5. Stars.

My mouth dropped. You win. Whee! CULEX RAWR.

  • I remember when I was 5 i tried to beat culex...Epic fail

  • That song gets me so psyched up!! Can I get an MP3 of it? XD

  • OMG CULEX!!!!! NOT AGAIN!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *cries in a corner*

  • Just a word to Angrytiger, You can delete any annoying comments. set a day for it and this list could be reduced drastically.

  • wow excellent job

  • I liked the game, but most of the music seemed a little "corny", so-to-speak. But the music at the parts where you composed the music at Tadpole Pond and the Culex battle theme were great.

  • You sir will probably be the next great VG composer after Nobuo Uematsu

  • That's fucking impressive! There's so much going on!

    Excellently composed! 13/10!
