I have never travelled out of Heathrow Terminal 5 so this will be a new experience for me and am really looking forward to my hols coming up in September flying to Miami another new experience for me I have never been to Miami I have been America before New York and Orlando but not to Miami I hear its a very vibrant city. Usually I travel with Virgin but this time decideded to travel with BA for a change. What is the weather temp like in late September early October?
I'm sorry I've been to so many airports I don't recall for sure about Heathrow Terminal 5 right now. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to see aircraft movement but I don't recall to what extent...
We'll be travelling to and from Heathrow airport I have never been to Heathrow Terminal 5 I hear it is very modern. Is there anywhere on the departures side of the terminal to sit watch the planes landing and taking off while you wait for your flight to be called. Sitting in departures can be boring without something to do like watching the activity of whats going on outside the terminal on the airside of the airport.
@tich302001 Terminal 5 is very modern indeed and the staff working there are very nice.
there are large windows on your left side as you enter and you will be abel to see planes leave but however it is not the best angel as most planes take off from behind or aside of the building. The windows are on the same side as the departure gates so there isn't really many places to sit .i like term.5 and i certainly have enjoyed my stays there.
not sure if i like the new look of modern terminal airports. THey all have that similar look to them. All that steel structure visible on the cieling makes it look like an industrial warehouse or factory.
I am in agreement with you but notice this feature just about everywhere around the planet. Wherever I go many of the shops, restaurants, airports, and other structures are all starting to look alike...
Man T5 looks fantastic. I haven't been to Heathrow since 2006 and that turned out to be a disasterous last trip there, getting my BA flight to Detroit cancelled and then having our luggage lost for 5 days in New York(atleast we were told that). Can't wait to get the oppurtunity to fly BA again this year and through this facility.
Okay, I hope you have a better experience this time around! I just flew on a Price Line.com ticket that turned out to be a disaster on my way to Florida. Seems to be hit and-miss these days with airlines and ticketing companies...
@kostasdaskk Globalisation has not destroyed aviation!! Aviation has actually CONTRIBUTED to and is a key factor of globalisation. If anything globalisation has kept the aviation business alive. If we all stopped flying tomorrow there'd be no need for the aviation industry.
@lawrencestoke I hate globalisation in all ways , a lot of things changed , for example each country had its own airline for instance swissair , sabena , olympic airways etc , now there only alliances , aviation has lost much of its excitement. The terminals have changed to worse too :(
@kostasdaskk Is it possible to hate globalisation in every way? You and I can communicate almost instantly as a result of globalisation technologies. You can go to Africa or India tomorrow if you want to! In the past even the wealthiest in society could only dream of what ordinary people have access to today thanks to certain aspects of globalisation. As for airline mergers, thats just business! Under capitalism you do what you have to do to survive and beat the competition. But I understand you
@lawrencestoke I miss the excitement of planes and airports , I miss each european country's national currency and we had to exchange it in the airports , I miss when we needed our passport and not national IDs , I miss all those things , flying abroad has become meaningless and indifferent , I HATE HATE HATE globalisation , I hate multiculturalism , I hate the new world order , I hate new airport terminals , I miss the old ones
Thanks for the sub! I can't think of anything you'll need to know about London or Heathrow - treat it all with a sense of adventure (and gratitude) and you'll do just fine!
@zeekzilch wow thats good like at the Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix Arizona, yeah in the US not England but still, everytime i fly out or go there with a fam, from Az, its marked like crap and when you ask for help they get snippy like their diapers need changing and the Douglas/Charolette Airport in North Carolina when i went to visit fam in South carolina wasnt well labled either but they were friendly
In Denver they also have volunteers walking around to give people assistance. You can usually spot these folks because they're wearing western wear (cowboy hats, etc.) and have an identification badge.
@zeekzilch Yes and Lufthansa has received 4 a 380s and they are planning to send one off them to Delhi India. But to Denver Colorado Lufthansa is using the Airbus a 340-600. Lufthansa is the 4 star airline like British Airways but British Airways have on older fleet than Lufthansa.
I love to bee there, buy a cake and seat at the HUGE window and watching the planes take off and landing all around the world, one by on, till i hear that voice saying that my plane is readdy to bording and i will fly to an other Airport.
@ShamrockFront ill be honest i hate heathrow .... i probably would like it if i went to t5 but i fly virgin so i go to t3 and i hate it, its smerlly, way overcrowded, you cant see the airplanes anywhere, theres a 10 mile walk to your gate, all the shops are for thousand dollar purfumes no-one can afford , longest security line ever and it takes litteraly half an hour in the queue at wh.smith and its worse when youve landed
@ShamrockFront me too!! i've been here 2 yrs ago while flying on kuwait airways! me and my family almost went got out of the airport by going through the immigration process when u realized that this is the way to get out of the airport wheras it was my 1st time there! then, we almost missed our plane cause we took a while and we were there for boarding right on time!
