I agree 100% with wooster182, you can see by the way he looks at Kelly that he was in love with her, but afraid of commitment. He didn't want to be let down again like he had been in the past by his father and Suzanne and her sleazy boyfriend. Just watch the episode where she is helping him stuff chickens for thanksgiving he gives her this look that gave NE chills!

Oh come on. Everything on this show was written without any sense of canon. Steve had half brothers in S6 that we never heard about before. Houses showed up out of nowhere. New actors switched out for old ones. K/D were hardly the king and queen of inconsistency. And it really can be explained through the show. He had flirted w/her all thru freshman year, but Brenda showed up & was new & stable and he fell in love. Doesn't mean old feelings wouldn't ever emerge when he was around Kelly again.

I feel like Steve and Kelly had the same things in common as DK and Kelly said in season 2 the one guy she wanted but turned her down was Brandon watch the condom episode DK were written more inconsistencies than any other couple
The only inconsistency I can think of w/DK is just the fact they had no interaction in the beginning and then they were suddenly close in S3, however, as I said, that can be explained by their behavior. My point was that every storyline on this show, not just the couples, had inconsistencies in practically every single episode. The writers were completely apathetic when it came to canon.

If he did, then he didn't love Brenda, which I think he did. He had to have real feelings for Kelly to choose her over Brenda or I would have no respect for him at all. He wouldn't have stayed w/her through the funeral, diet pills, John Sears. He wouldn't have wanted her back after Suzanne, Brandon, drugs, Toni, etc.
He also told Brenda that he couldn't be with her because, even though he loved her, he was IN LOVE with Kelly. I would really like to see examples of where their relationship was based solely on sex and not just the fact that they had a healthy sex life like good couples should have.

Than Kelly even says take away the sex they have no relationship. They almost do it on their first date at the observatory until Brenda catches them. Dylan laughs in the senior poll episode at the end when she says did you mean if we never had sex again you'd be fine with it. He laughs and smirks.

How do you explain his taking care of her in the hospital? Or her going to his rehab? He tells her that he would have been "in love with her" had she been beautiful or not. I agree that dylan was better with brenda however i think alot of the brenda/dylan fans are quite sensitive about kelly. Without the kelly/dylan/brenda triangle the show may have been less memorable. You have to admit that 3rd season was brilliant!!
I know people complain that they argued, and seemed to be unhappy more than not, but they were incredible.
I think the amount of passion in their relationship was so rare, and the way that no matter who else was around, the only factor for them was each other.
