The Actual amount:
According to the associated press of the 36 countries and seven agencies Australia offered the largest pledges of any other nation. $764 million over 5 years. Total aid combined from 36 countries and 7 agencies was $5 billion. To claim that Australia donated $2 million or forty percent of all international aid IS JUST NOT TRUE!).
In comparison to others Australia contribution seems generous indeed. However with a 2008 Gross Domestic Product of 800 billion, even the alleged $1billion is less than 0.15% of Australias annual GDP. Even after adjusted for inflation and conversion its hardly a contribution to boast about. Furthermore what gives Australias citizens (yourself I assume) the right to attach education and religious reform demands as a condition to receipt.
The first part of our donation came from public contributions...television appeals etc. That had NOTHING to do with Government but the Australian people....and it was raised within a week.
Typical motivations: Proximal countries, fearing an influx of refugees usually donate the heaviest in the wake of catastrophes. It would be far less expensive for the Australian government to sent 0.15% of its GDP than to absorb 4 million Acehnese refugees.
Any aid is welcome and Australia will definitely be rewarded by Allah for its contribution, as will Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. Lets hope that these countries follow the lessons they were taught in their own Mosques and Madrassas by following the Prophet Muhammads example in his statement of Dont cancel out your good deeds by "reminders" of your generosity
and to your analytical assessment.....bullshit! ever hear the phase "don't look a gift horse in the mouth"? many of those affected by this tragedy are enemies of australia and western countries but yet the people of australia and others saw fit to send aid regardless. its a perfect example of Christian Charity. Yeah..Tsunami has made me a much better person. I don't think people will easily forget Allah, especially those who were saved n witness this terrible disaster. I still cry everynight before I fall asleep thinking of what my family n I have been trhough. Also am thinking about others who lost their love ones (especially kids who lost their parents)
can you all tell me, the persons in the eraly part of the video--- were peparing for some party or some kind , were they? Did they survive? Who took the footage?
No, they didn't prepare the party but only 4 of them (my uncle's family who were staying the night in that house) who wanted to attend my sister's wedding @my family's house in Lamteumen Barat. The girl who took this footage was my cousin, she lives in Jakarta but she came to Aceh for my sister's wedd. party. All of them survived (only the man who were standing by the gate were swept away) He was the owner of the house (my uncle's brother in law). The groom was never found.
After the quake, the owner of the house (the man in police uniform who were standing by the gate) wanted to check the situation in town. Then he drove his car, about 10 mins after he left, the tsunami struck n he was swept away. A week later, the rescue team found his body in another village by the mosque (he was still in his uniform). The lady who were crying n saying "Aby is in the car" was his wife (Sy.Abidah).
I forgot to tell you that in this video, you can see the girl who took this footage was wearing the red dress n hijab n ready to go to my mum's house for the party. She handed the video to the media (Metro TV) soon after the disaster. This was the very first Tsunami footage that was shown to the public right after the tsunami.
No, I'm not in the video because, a day before tsunami, my babies n I just arrived from Scotland. So, we stayed at my family's house. Besides, it was my sister wedding party n I supposed to stay with my family. Actually, my cousin n her family also stayed at my family's house but that night they stayed overnight at this house, then this disaster happened.
Thanks for your condolences. The rest of my family who were on the top floor were survived but I lost 50 relatives from my mother side (including my cousins n her family who were trapped in the car, she was my closest friend) n 90% of them from my father side.
Anyway, I live in Scotland but a day before tsunami I arrived in B.Aceh for my sister's wedd.party. My 2 babies n I stayed @ my family's house in Lamteumen Barat (quite far from the beach but the water reached the roof of the house). While my uncles stayed with his wife's sister in Peukan Bada (as shown on the video). The water reached the first floor (quite high from the basement).

no damage at all cuz the quake wasnt as devastating than in aceh. in aceh you'll see flooding not just in banda aceh but the rest of aceh

Yeah..Tsunami has made me a much better person. I don't think people will easily forget Allah, especially those who were saved n witness this terrible disaster. I still cry everynight before I fall asleep thinking of what my family n I have been trhough. Also am thinking about others who lost their love ones (especially kids who lost their parents)

No, they didn't prepare the party but only 4 of them (my uncle's family who were staying the night in that house) who wanted to attend my sister's wedding @my family's house in Lamteumen Barat. The girl who took this footage was my cousin, she lives in Jakarta but she came to Aceh for my sister's wedd. party. All of them survived (only the man who were standing by the gate were swept away) He was the owner of the house (my uncle's brother in law). The groom was never found.

Ok, let's start again,
After the quake, the owner of the house (the man in police uniform who were standing by the gate) wanted to check the situation in town. Then he drove his car, about 10 mins after he left, the tsunami struck n he was swept away. A week later, the rescue team found his body in another village by the mosque (he was still in his uniform). The lady who were crying n saying "Aby is in the car" was his wife (Sy.Abidah).

I forgot to tell you that in this video, you can see the girl who took this footage was wearing the red dress n hijab n ready to go to my mum's house for the party. She handed the video to the media (Metro TV) soon after the disaster. This was the very first Tsunami footage that was shown to the public right after the tsunami.

No, I'm not in the video because, a day before tsunami, my babies n I just arrived from Scotland. So, we stayed at my family's house. Besides, it was my sister wedding party n I supposed to stay with my family. Actually, my cousin n her family also stayed at my family's house but that night they stayed overnight at this house, then this disaster happened.

Thanks for your condolences. The rest of my family who were on the top floor were survived but I lost 50 relatives from my mother side (including my cousins n her family who were trapped in the car, she was my closest friend) n 90% of them from my father side.

Anyway, I live in Scotland but a day before tsunami I arrived in B.Aceh for my sister's wedd.party. My 2 babies n I stayed @ my family's house in Lamteumen Barat (quite far from the beach but the water reached the roof of the house). While my uncles stayed with his wife's sister in Peukan Bada (as shown on the video). The water reached the first floor (quite high from the basement).
