God, he got so mean spirited towards the end. They could have a great Roman/Mar reunion and then John/Kristen could've been happy as well. But soaps are supposed to create irony so I guess it was more exciting going down the path it did not to say Days can get downright bizarre...

roman/wayne is my favorite daytime character/actor ---he is the only roman for me. Josh Taylor is great actor in his own right, but he was and is never going to be roman for / to me. Drake/John was cool and sexy, but Wayne/Roman just such an incredible,fun, interesting and down to earth character/actor. I miss WaynesRoman, but thanks to this site and others with Wayne and Days I still get to enjoy

i loved Wayne and Dee...they had such believeable, everyday couple quality about them....I'm a Jarlena fan for life, but Wayne's Roman and Marlena were good too...I really wish they had made Wayne as Roman when he came back in '05 too....No disrespect to Josh Taylor, but the character of Roman hasn't mattered as much to me since Wayne left

you are right...I cried when I watched this. I mean the writers ruined Roman/Marlena. I could tell that actors were having a hard time with it. I do love Josh Taylor and Drake....ugh the dilemma

I cried too, and all I've ever known since birth is John and Marlena. Roman and Marlena were really great together, and this goodbye was the goodbye of an epoch. It's hard not to miss them. But... if only... it's just the way they made Roman now, as some snivelling cretin always trying to sneak back into Marlena's bed and spite John - he was better than that. He was a good man. He had his temper, and his pride (we all have our vices), but he was a good man and Marlena loved him :(

They should have replaced Wayne as Roman when he returned to the show in '05, but the whole thing is messed up, and has been since the Gina/Hope story, the last eight years has been messed up. And they also should placed Josh as Chris Kositchek:(

The problem with that is, it is too much like right. They have made us believe utterly ridiculous storylines. That show would have turned around years ago if they just would Made Wayne Roman and Josh Chris. Now with all of the major characters back, they can do descent flashbacks of the "real Brady-Dimera feud" because of the recasts. Sorry didn't mean to vent.

I think the original plan was to have Wayne return as Roman but the problem was that Wayne was only signed to a six month contract and it turned out that he ended up leaving after the six months. If they had gone that route, it would've been a really big mess.

I held on for a little bit longer. The introduction of Wayne as "Alex" was the final straw for me. It feels good to remember the good ol' Days. I would not waste my time watching the current DOOL.

I never did get why the brought him on as Alex. Not one of my favorite J/M storylines.

I don't remember if i saw this at the time or not. I was so exicted when Wayne came back to the show, and then to have them write in an affair with John, it literally turned my stomach. I did stop watching altogether once Wayne left.
