why is it some people on the phone when they use the phonetic alphabet coding for clear communication they always say b for bravo instead of just bravo when exchanging information for example . It was designed to be used just using the phonetic codes. people actually are incorrect and just making it ineffective by saying the letter as well as the phonetic code. the correct way of using the phonetic codes is just using the coeds by themselves.

@1982FMJ Which is all well and good when you know the person you're speaking to actually knows the phonetic alphabet. Then you can real it off. If the person doesn't know it then they'll get lost. I tend to give it as B bravo E echo if someone doesn't know it. Its also common practice with vehicle registration marks where I work to give it as M Mike, D delta 5 4 R Romeo E echo F foxtrot Mike Delta 5 4 Romeo Echo Foxtrot.

They know of it, they may even know a few letters. but if it comes as a surprise they will get lost and say "whats that again?" I've said to someone over the phone yep its India Seria. Went to see them the next day and they'd literally written India Seria on the bit paper. Sometimes its just easier to say it A Alpha.
