  • I loved Episode I. *runs away*

  • Watching those fans going nuts for Star Wars, cheering before the movie starts, so wildly happy and excited... so many millions .. And then all those people feeling let down in that way ... God, it's such a grand, heartbreaking shame, I almost can't comprehend it. I feel like I want to do something about it, to go back in time and say how sorry I am to each and every one of them. This is the lowest possible moment that fan and director can feel.

  • Oh man, I wish they showed the aftermath video of every Star Wars fan walking out of the theater with their head hanging low, dropping their lightsabers, crying, consoling one another.

  • The only genuinly good part of the movie. The soundtrack.

  • At last, someone who George Lucas doesn't have the technical knowledge to screw around.

  • John Williams is a pimp

  • @mark224 he is not!

  • Also, 03:14 is like watching those horror movies where you have the scene with the happy family doing happy things but you know shit is going to go down and everything will go wrong.

  • John Williams is so amazing, just listen to this music.

The only thing that truly stands out in this terrible film is the music, he outdid himself.

  • 4:49 gives me chills.

  • @AceProductions91 That ALWAYS gives me chills and i dont know why but i get choked up everytime i see it.

  • I really don't give a shit about "Star Wars" at all anymore, but John Williams' music is absolutely phenomenal. If there's one thing that endures for me about the franchise, it's that.

  • ..how money and expensive effects can't make up for bad character choices and poor acting.

  • The movie did revolutionized the use of extensive CGI in movies. It also made movie makers realize how mone

  • The ecstatic cheering probably stopped when the story scroll began. Trade routes? Really? Yeesh.

  • I feel sorry for them - all..

  • I don't care about anybody's opinion, whether it's a critic's opinion or not, it won't change how I personally feel about this movie, and that is that it is awesome. The podrace scene, the lightsaber battle between Obi, Qui-gon, and Maul. Don't even get me started on the brilliant music. Critics can fuck off. Star Wars for LIFE.

  • @lookslikeharry2

i was in denial of the prequels for a long time as well, but you need to embrace the fact that they do suck bad sadly

  • @tklandess BULL

  • @ArabDiSASTER

sorry son, no BULL! that's why it came in FOURTH PLACE in its first weekend's box office, and thats with the extra cost per ticket for 3D! People know not to be spoon fed shit twice!

  • @tklandess That just means that people went to go see other movies over star wars, bot that it sucked... I respect your opinion but that is all it is... an opinion....

  • @ArabDiSASTER

Not it means if it truly were a good flick and a classic star wars film then people would love to see it again, especially in 3D! case in point episode 4 in 97 made 36 million opening weekend when tickets were cheaper and without the extra cost for 3d, yet here we are today with episode 1 making 22.5 million while the tickets cost alot more! That's some hard facts right there!

  • Comment removed

  • @tklandess Number's make no difference if it was good or not! How can you not get that??? An Opinion is an opinion, if the world took a survey saying that 70% of the earth bought a dog over a cat, does that mean that Cats are horrible pets? No, not at all.... (unless you think so) because it is an opinion...

  • @ArabDiSASTER

so numbers are not an issue to you. Sure, a crap movie can make alot of money but a food movie can make little. Overall Episode 1 has made a lot of money, but isn't a good movie. If you can seriously convince me the prequels have great stories, characters, and excitement/emotional resonance I would be more than happy to reconsider me stance! And near in mind i went to celebrations 2 and 3 for the prequels, and when younger claimed to love them. But it was blind desperate and false

  • @ArabDiSASTER

you were smart to delete the box office comment! But i saw it, and 64 million worldwide is a crap opening too! Moreso with todays higher ticket prices plus 3d! America is where the movies are made and thus my basis of analysis and being critical!

  • @tklandess I Deleted the box office comment because I thought I had the wrong numbers, but I'm glad you saw it because I was going to re-write it when I realized that it was right, but I decided to say something else... AND - next comment

  • @tklandess And you are still turning bad into a fact where it is an opinion. My view of good is also an opinion. You need to realize that even if the majority say that it is bad, that does not mean it is just BAD. because there are still a lot that say it is good... You cannot turn opinion into facts my friend...

  • @ArabDiSASTER

Nope they are bad-you even admit the majority says so! I used to buy the games, toys, go to conventions, and lined up for the prequels when younger. Tell me who the main character(s) from the prequels are then! Then describe them without mentioning their name or occupation based on the prequels only! Traits, attitude, emotional type, etc. Then check out Mr. Plinkett reviews of each prequel and see how bad they are!

  • @lookslikeharry2 I'm so glad I found someone who agrees with me! haha! Parts of this movie I'm not impressed with, but that happens from time to time. I will always be a Star Wars fan!

  • We've all heard people criticise this movie for its various flaws, however this has been largely exasperated by the herd mentality of hardcore trilogy loyalists. Now I believe a lot of what is criticised is valid but a lot of it seems like unfair overkill. The score is brilliant, the images are sleek and beautiful, I think the crowning aspect of the film is it's suspense-play. As for the acting Liam Neeson, Pernilla August and Ian McDiarmid all pull off convincing performances.

  • how come they didnt show reaction shots from after the movie oh yea

  • @anonherp because it wasn't that bad

  • To be fair to all those SW fans at the end, they didn't know it was going to be bad movie.

  • Comment removed

  • That first part with the chorus and the orchestra is just so epic.

  • Wow I watched all 7 parts, and yeah they put A LOT of money into this film, but the thing is there was no story, and he picked the wrong actors, and he didn't really consider things from the original trilogy to carry on into this trilogy apart from Anakin destroying a huge ship like Luke did. He exaggerates too much things rather than characters. He should've written a really good story first, then done the whole production set stuff, hope he's learnt his lesson, hopefully red tails is good

  • The Yoda puppet is the most lively-looking creature in this movie.

  • I would have loved to see the ecstatic audiences faces coming out of the cinema. The only reason to wave those sabers afterwards would be to hit the producer.

  • WHY WAS I ONLY 7 YEARS OLD WHEN THIS HAPPENED!?!?!

  • when George dies, the saga stops, but the force remains ;)

  • 3:56 Virgins...

  • i was writing a script for a fable trilogy, now after seeing this i'm now writing a star wars knights of the old republic trilogy. i want my kids to grow up with star wars and have the same joy i had when i was there age

  • there is nothing i love more than hearing people cheer for what they love

  • these movies are soooo crap. but the music is awesome

  • Its crazy how big of a fanbase star wars has.

  • Watch Redlettermedia's videos if you want to see what is wrong with Phantom menace.

  • the music is absolutely amazing, thank god for john williams

  • 4:36 - 4:57 = pure awesome.

  • i actually had tears in my eyes watching the pop when the opening theme blasted through the cinema.

  • Quit hatin' on Episode 1 guys! Like you can ever make a movie this amazing! Like you'll ever make a movie at all! Seriously, I agree with Medilator! SHOVE A FUCKING STAR TREK MOVIE UP YOUR TINY ASSES AND QUIT HATING

And if all you're gonna do is hate, why watch this in the first place you fucking moron!

  • Those poor movie-goers. Some waited in tents; disappointment will be their only reward.

  • Later after everybody starts drinking, George explains how his newly minted bowel movement is 'bold' and 'stylistic.'

  • @R8erNation636

    +1 pizza roll for you!

  • I get goosebumps watching that Star Wars logo appear on the screen and hearing the crowd roar.

If only they knew how epicly disappointing the next three films would be....its kinda sad. Even though ep1 was probably my favorite of the prequels, they were all just so sub-par.

I almost want Lucas to try an ep 7 for redemption. Get rid of the yes-men, bring back Gary Kurtz, actually revise your scripts and go back to old school effects with CGI as a last resort.

  • @zzyzx0788 Lol actually sometimes I feel like he should just remake them properly. But who knows if he even could. Maybe its not as easy to recreate the magic of the old trilogy.

No excuse whatsoever for how crappy the prequels were though

  • If there was one thing the prequels did right, it was music. Bravo John Williams, bravo.

  • John Williams was the ONLY thing good from the new trilogy.

  • To bad the movie was just not that good..

  • omg I got goosebumps when the Star Wars appears on the screen and the hole audience starts cheering.

Oh man I wish I were there.... I guess I would have cried because I would be so happy....

In my opinion Episode one is one of the best Star Wars movies!

  • a la espera de la saga en 3D!!!!!!!!!

  • why is phantom menace bad?? i love it and its probably one of my favourites

  • @nojolie yeah, I really love it also, I do not know what the problem with these people are.

  • @nojolie indeed, it's a part of my youth. If they ask me (and everyone of my class back than) wich my favorite movie is from when I was young: Star wars phantom menace!!

  • @nojolie

  • 3:55 - Nerdgam

  • 4:10 "It's just beginning man, it's just beginning"

People said that after they saw the movie to, but that time they meant it in like a painful way.

  • Those poor fools in the theater are like lambs to the slaughter

  • When you strip away all the actors, all the fancy CGI, all the grand music, all the money.. you're left with one man writing at his desk. And that right there was the core of the problem with this movie. You can't fix what's already rotten at the core.

  • 4:49 = EXCITEMENT...and then the heavy sound of disappointment...

  • That green line running down the left hand side of the screen has been annoying the FUCK out of me for all 7 parts :@

  • It amazes me that during this whole making of, i never heard Lucas ask for a second opinion from nobody,

yet, if I was Lucas I'd probably wouldn't give a shit either........

  • wow, some star wars fans you are, fucking give lucas some credit, the badass guy spent his life writing books and making films for your sorry asses, and all you can fucking say is ''the prequels were horribly bad'' or ''Lucas is an asshole for making such a flop'' i think who ever's like that should go fucking shove a star trek dvd up ur fucking ass, cause if u dont like george's miracles, then dont watch star wars and get a life...

lucas forget these fools and continue makin true fans proud !!!

  • @Medilator

Then he has no excuse for Episode 1 being shit!

  • @Samuel24842 I don't use the phrase George Lucas raped my childhood, because he gave us the Original Trilogy, the difference was that when he wrote the original trilogy he wrote it because he wanted to, this time Lucas was writing 3 new films because of the Future technology that dazzled him so much. He felt that unless this was Star Wars he was writing, he probably couldn't think of a better story, because believe it or not sometimes you can only write one good story in your life, that's it

  • @Samuel24842 However I won't take back my annoyance of how he's changed the Original Cuts, it's not even that he changed them it's that he won't give us the original theatrical cuts, and don't tell me that the Limited Edition DVD that had it was the original cut because it wasn't. No picture improvement , no sound improvements, not even in widescreen?! That's all I'm gonna bash him for, the prequels while he may have had a say in EVERYTHING, it's the people that didn't challenge him.

  • @Samuel24842 You do realize you replyed to your self?

  • @halo6534 I pretty much just wanted them all to link together somehow, replying to myself was the best I could think of

  • @Medilator

How the fuck did this get thumbed up?

    Get help.

  • @LaughingUltros haha cause, i agree with him. Don't get me wrong the CGI in the prequels was way OVERDONE and some of the actin bland, but it expanded on the star wars universe better then anything. Haha it kills me the hatred lucas has gotten from SO CALLED fans lol. I watched the originals from 77, 80, and 83 and imo they SUCK compared to the 97 special editions. I actually like the prequels, expanded on the universe.

  • @andross51 PLEASE stop. You have poor taste in movies. It's ok you enjoy them, I wouldn't try and stop you, but please cease making arguments about how good they are.

  • @Krisgebis respectable opinion krisgebis, np, but i swear it drives me freakin insane how many of these people have gone fuckin haywire towards lucas. I actually agree with laughingUltros. Hey if some fag is hating lucas i am not afraid to counter their ass. It just angers me of all the hatred towards lucas when they are HIS FILMS!

  • @andross51 Are you talking about the prequels or the reedits of the originals?

Regarding the prequels: Of course they aren't terrible movies, there are alot worse out there. But regarding the most disappointing, they do rank up there. It pains me to see so much work and effort went into them, yet they turned out so poorly.

  • @Medilator You've literally skipped the 6 parts before this video.

  • @Medilator Wow, you are proud of being fan of Lucas later work? It's so terrible. A whole lot of work went into it. There are some great elements within them, but overall his movies have been poor for quite some time now.

  • @Krisgebis Every generation says this about almost every director. "Oh they're making the same movie over again, they lack what their early films had" blah blah blah. It's not a fucking competition. They are made for enjoyment. Millions of people love this movie. That settles it. It has its audience. Far worse films have far bigger audiences. Not a fan? Go troll somewhere else.

  • @amaxamon Like the movies? Go watch them again! It works both ways asshat. Who made you king of the internet? Answer: No one, so learn to deal with people having different opinions.

Lucas' movies have decreased in quality, that is the universal rating feedback, which should settle it for any sane person, but I guess you want to defend your own terrible taste, go ahead. What people enjoy is not my concern, as long as they have fun with it. But we should be able to share our opinions freely.

  • @Krisgebis Asshat? That's your idea of an insult? What does that even fucking mean?? God, I'm hurting! As I said, that was the "majority opinion" of many films that are now considered to be groundbreaking, classic, or have a huge "cult" following. Obviously you don't practice what you preach. I'm sharing my opinion very freely: you're a troll!

  • @amaxamon Guess what? The prequels are neither "groundbreaking, classic or have a huge "cult" following". Yes, some works of art are underappreciated when released, but that doesn't make every movie with bad ratings a masterpiece. The prequels have bad pacing, bad storytelling, bad plot and bad characters. The effects are very well done though.

Were didn't I practice what I preach? You are the one who tells people to stop telling their opinion.

  • @Krisgebis That's your OPINION all right! All movies have bad acting & pacing problems. What we're willing to forgive is different for every viewer. Drama is fake & is never anything like life, it fails every single time, and yet we continue to attempt it, and enjoy it. These films have their weaknesses, but they are more than made up for in their imagination, ambition, and the interest of the story. And one day, they might be revered. Many "classics" were "bombs." Later, Asshat!

  • @amaxamon Wow, I don't know where to begin. So because fiction is not reality, every example of bad acting gets a free pass? How about the bad plot and storytelling? They also get a free pass, because the effects are colourful?

Some classics were bombs on release =/= All bombs on release become classics. It's a simple logical error.

  • @Krisgebis You don't know where to begin because you know nothing & don't have anything to say. We give free passes all the time. It is up to the viewer to assign value to any creative endeavor. Shakespeare had bombs & bad reviews! These fx aren't colorful, they are brilliant. No one has an eye like GL, he's a cut above. There's a lot going on in this film that pleases me, and I'm ok with it's faults. Educate your mind.

  • @amaxamon I have said more about the movie than you have, so your comment seems to apply more towards yourself. And shoving CGI at the screen doesn't make the movie better, it makes the screen cluttered and gets in the way of effective storytelling.

Having bad reviews/reception at release isn't a stamp of good quality. Neithers does the "it's all subjective" I see you trying to sneak in the backdoor. We CAN talk about quality in entertainment,

"Educate your mind" What else would I educate?

  • @Krisgebis The film doesn't need me to defend it, if you'd broaden your mind you'd find plenty about it that is interesting & worthwhile. It's your frame of reference that is lacking. Your opinions are canned. You are either an aspiring filmmaker or film critic. Yawn. Make something & let us see it & *show* us how it's done. Otherwise, shut yer ignorant yap and let others enjoy what they want. Adios fucko.

  • @amaxamon It doesn't need your defending, yet here you are, sounding like a rapid fanboy, trying to throw every tired old argument at people with a different opinion than yourself. Is this the worst film ever? Of course not. Far from it. But it isn't very good either.

My frame of reference is broader than yours, I would assume (from your lack of logical understanding and slamming of critics).

Can't enjoy your movie because others don't think its a masterpiece? Grow up!

  • @Krisgebis What the HELL is a "Rapid fanboy?!?! Why are you here? Why waste precious moments of life leaving random negative comments about things? Trust me, your canned opinion means zero to me. It's a beautiful & original film. It's its own thing, I accept it on its own terms, which are quite sophisticated. But it depends on your frame of reference. Why don't you tell me what film it should have been like? What is the standard? What defines "good"?

  • @amaxamon My opinions means zero to you, yet you consistently keep replying and even ask me question? Contradiction.

You accept the movie "on its own terms" yet you got to have the right frame of referance? Contradiction.

The standard which it should be compared to is the same that every movie should be compared to. The quality of other movies and other types of media.

The prequels have shallow characters, with bad chemistry and a storyline that is all over the place and with lots of plotholes.

  • @Krisgebis >The prequels have shallow characters, with bad chemistry and a storyline that is all over the place and with lots of plotholes.< Specifically indicate how each element should have been done. If it's "wrong" there must be a universal "right." Point out each "right." Otherwise it's just your taste, and mine, and our opinions. I like what he's doing, even if it's not all "hits". But c'mon, what *precisely* shd he have done to make it "good" and "right"?

  • @amaxamon Made characters who aren't one note (they have one simple trait pr. character). Give them scenes of emotions together that we can relate to, and not just bitching about other people or stories about how close they are.

Make a story that is coherent without major plotholes. Make a more focused story that doesn't jump between 4 clumsy storylines.

  • @Krisgebis That's completely vague and entirely your opinion. For everything you've written, someone will passionately argue for what is in the film. What exactly should it be like? What precisely should be on screen? Do you see where I'm going with this? The film isn't to your tastes, fine, that doesn't make it "wrong" or "bad." If it is literally not "right" there should be specific correctives, derived from an objective model. Yes or no? If no, you have nothing but an opinion.

  • @amaxamon Are you going with the argument: You can't make it better yourself, therefor it is good? Because that would be ludicris.

Saying this movie is good, would be staying that spectacle trumpfs substance. It can make for a pleasing experience, sure, but most people would agree that substance is better.

I don't agree with your "either it's 100% opinion or else its objective" model.

  • @Krisgebis No, I am trying to teach you something. If there isn't something specifically "wrong" that can be "fixed" because it violates an unwavering objective standard, then what we have is a difference of opinion. Shot by shot, scene by scene, edit by edit, line by line, what precisely *should* it be? Do you know? Does anyone? And everyone agrees on that? I don't think so. That leaves us with differing opinions, nothing more. PS: your spelling is terrible!

  • @amaxamon But again, I'm saying that is it neither purely opinion OR an objective standard. So when you try to reduce the options to those two, you are making a mistake.

How do we judge if the effects are good? I could say they are shit, so is it purely a matter of opinion? No! But it isn't a matter of objective standard either, because T2 had fantastic effect, but released today they wouldn't be considered fantastic.

P.s. Not everyone has english as their primary language ;)

  • @Krisgebis There were people in '92 who thought the effects for T2 were trash, because they were digital. Were they wrong? There is no "right" or "good" or "bad" in art. There is only the object and the viewer. I like the majority of performances in this film and prefer Lucas's style of "non-direction" over the histrionics of someone like JJ Abrams. I'm "wrong"? It's a matter of taste. The writing is no worse than the other SW films. The story works for me. And for millions of others.

  • @amaxamon Sight. You have bad taste, sorry to put it like that. I also have some bad movies I enjoy, but that doesn't make them good. If you seriously think, that there is nothing wrong with the performances in at least TPM then you can't spot bad acting.

Where are the million fans of the prequels? The long time Star Wars fans were awaiting the prequels with joy, really looking forward too them, and wanted too love them. But they were almost universally disappointed.

  • @Krisgebis You're an arrogant asshole. The PT actually has a robust fanbase which included Steven Spielberg & they broke box office records. There is no "good" or "bad", that is the shelter for intellectually lacking individuals with closed minds. What is good acting? Specifically tell me precisely what good acting is. Go ahead! You can't. I can see the weaknesses in this but also its great strengths of originality and uniqueness. I'm sorry you're so close minded that you can't.

  • @amaxamon Yup, it was highly anticipated by people who wanted to love it, therefor a ton of people went and saw it. The disappointment was great. Steven Spielberg doesn't talk badly about Lucas. They are very close friends, and he supports him and lets him decide on his own projects (I really respect their friendship).

What weaknesses are you talking about. Your point is that it's completely opinion based = random, so there can't be any weaknesses and strenghts.

  • @Krisgebis So I guess this was uploaded by someone who hates the movie? From BBC news 2001: "Star Wars prequel, The Phantom Menace, has set a new record for DVD sales in America after about 2.2 million copies were sold in its first weeks of release." I guess it was bought by all this disappointed fans? Open your mind, stop thinking so highly of your own opinion, and get some enjoyment out of life. GOODBYE.

  • @amaxamon It might have, are we speculating on motives now? He might love it, he might be a dishardend fan. Who knows and know cares?

The standard of "a good film" is not just my opinion of it (did you really miss this point?). I told you I also enjoy some bad movies. You grew up with these movies, I get it, that doesn't make them better, but only changes your perception of them.

And try not to hide behind the: "it's all opinions anyway". Don't just watch movies, throw some books into the mix.

  • @Krisgebis What the fuck are you talking about? I was almost 30 when this came out. I found it interesting/entertaining then & I still do now. I actually went straight from a Truffaut retrospective to see this the first time. I like both directors. I've forgotten more about literature (and film) then you'll ever know. Now please just fuck off and leave me alone, thank you very much, you fucking arrogant prick.

  • @amaxamon Me leaving you alone? Are you on drugs? You have kept asking me questions, claming that you don't care about what I say, been crying that you can't enjoy movies because others don't like.

I believe you, when you claim that you have forgotten alot about film and literature. It sucks to be uninformed, but you can always do something about it ;)

Lucas admits he is a terrible director, so i hope you dont love his director skills, but just loves the person that is a director.

  • @Krisgebis actually cinematic criticism is essentially just a conglomeration of opinion. I spent a year at university studying cinema and that's basically all I came away with. I'd challenge you to show me how you one can objectively assess a film, qualitatively, on a subjective basis, as you attempt to do when you make statements about a films value, but it's basically impossible.

  • @jollyroger475 Let me ask you this. How come opinion isn't completely random? How come professional reviews agree on some movies that they are universaly bad/good? What does this "opinion" rest upon?

Evolutionary psychology would be my answer. So we are not looking at an objective frame of reference "out there", but in human nature. I'm sure your course would adhere to social contructivism, but that is a wrong starting point.

  • @amaxamon And no, because there is something as "wrong" there doesn't have to be a universal right. With your shallow grasp of logic, I'm not suprised you would get this one wrong.

If you walked down the street without pants, people could tell you that you were doing it wrong. But there is still a myriad of ways you can do it right.

  • @Medilator I think Star Wars succeeded in spite of what Lucas did, not because of it. If he had his way even A New Hope would have been tremendously different, and probably terrible.

  • I think Lucas and his team did more than well. If you others are disapointed, that is your problem. And if any of you here knows more about film-making than Lucas, go for it!

  • george was like.......

"MAKE THE MOVIE MORE LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS AND MAYBE PPL WONT NOTICE THIS MOVIE IS SHIT ! "

  • Its gets really annoying to read the same comments on every part of this Making of!

Come on..Episode One wasn't that bad. It is still a good movie although it might not have been what the real "old school" fans expected. I am fan since i am 5 yrs old and when TPM came out i was 9. So naturally it was my first live Star Wars experience and therefore i was amazed by the movie. It was simply made with a new generation in mind. Nowadays i am 22 and prefer the Classics but yet I respect the Prqls.

  • Poor Rick. Going in there to greet the fans, he probably felt like he was going in to his own execution.

  • the problem with the movie is that lucas had too much control. the reason why empire was better than a new hope was because lucas didnt have as much control. if it were up to me, i would say that spielberg shouldve directed this movie. and no one give me the bullshit about Indy 4. most of that movie was lucas' fault.

  • I really think the main issue was the writing. It didn't work as a film because it simply had a bad story.

That last scene where lucas is at his desk is really fitting, because that's where it really all went to shit.

  • Here imo are the pros and cons of TPM:

Pros: the pod racing, light saber battle between darth maul, qui gon and obi wan, and john williams music.

Cons: TO MUCH CGI, and nobody challenging lucas like in the original trilogy

  • how in hell do people know about darth vader and boba! how this is the first movie

  • @52arcticwolf Episodes 4, 5 and 6 are the originals from the trilogy. Episode 4 started it all. NOw it's called " A New Hope" when before it was just called "Star Wars". If you watch them you'll see that they are the older videos, considering that the actors look like they were born in the 50s. (Mark Hamil -Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford- Han Solo). If that makes sense to you. just google it

  • Anyone else here cause of Redlettermedia reviews?

  • @BonScottAC Yeah. I can believe how on the money RLM was about the sheer vibe of confusion and unfocused-ness that this documentary brings out.

  • the only movie I didn't appreciate so much out of all starwars flicks. too much story I mean i like a nice story but wuz just too much of it, wanted to see more action.

  • Man, that guy who ran into the theater wearing the tux... all I can say is that I'm glad I'm not him. And I'm glad I was 12 when Phantom Menace first came out, giving me an excuse for once liking it (and let us never speak of it again).

  • In that last section when George tried to talk down to John with that "What you may not realize" I almost died. George is an ant compared to the talent of John.

  • Watching the whole dolcumentary and knowing what did finally come out of it is like watching an accident in motion. Fascinating.

  • Watching the whole dolcumentary and knowing what did finally came out of it is like watching an accident in motion. Fascinating.

  • What is wrong with you people? I'M sure you seen the origional movie If you think it sucks why are you here? I don't watch something I didn't like the first time

  • I wonder how many of those fanboys committed suicide after leaving the theater

  • I personally like every star wars movies! Maybe also because I grew up with it

  • @jera3

I grew up with it too. I was five when I saw the originals when they were released on VHS as a special anniversary edition. Every Saturday and Sunday I would watch all three movies in a row.

When the prequels came out, I was about eight or so. I enjoyed the pod race and the space battles, but really didn't follow the story. I thought it was because I'm young, but personally looking back the story it really didn't make sense. Even as a kid, I knew the prequels were better.

  • Great movie.

  • beautiful documentary.. ... almost as good as the movie itself.... nice to see how a masterpiece is made :)

  • This was painful to watch. It's not that the fundamental plot of the movie was bad, it was just poorly executed with no one to check any of George's lesser ideas.

  • It is too bad the movie didn't deliver. I believe they tried too hard, I really do. If they would've kept it simple and not try to hit the home run with stupid humorless characters, boring subplots and an over-reliance on computer animation, it may have been decent. Also, they shouldn't have killed off Quigon gin and Darth Maul in the first movie. It would have made epoisode 2 more bearable.

  • oh shit its funny watching the people all dressed up as star wars characters getting all excited boy are they in for a big let down ha ha ha glad i did not go to see this at the cinema

  • Man, bashing this movie on the internet has become like playing Stairway to Heaven in guitar stores...they should have signs against it...yeah we get it..you were disappointed, who gives a fuck....

  • @teskio thank you, your words are like the apples of Idunn to me

  • anybody working on this movie was immediately putting their head on a chopping block, NO FUCKING WAY can any movie meet the insane expectations Ep 1 had, and it had the highest expectations in the history of cinema...not even Empire Strikes Back would have been good enough, people would find something to complain about since they'd built the perfect star wars movie in their head for years and years years. Ep 1 sucked, but it would have got killed no matter what

  • @Colt2571 yeah the expectations were way to hight and people would have complained even if it was really good but still the phantom menace is a pile of dog shit in fact with out the starwars title behind it i think people would have though it was more shit and less people would have seen it but alot of people will pay for anything to do with star wars

  • 4:49 I love watching those kind of reactions. While I agree that Phantom Menace is the weakest of the films, the Pod Race kicks ass, as does the duel against Darth Maul.

  • haha, that's cool you get to see images of the premiere of Phantom Menace i remember seeing it when i was 9 and loved it, well cause it was a movie for kids, it wasn't the real Star Wars anymore, i remember all this huge commercial around and gums and all, but behind it all, this movie and the rest sucked, it's sad to realize that.. i would have love to see the guys reactions after the premiere, did they film that ?

  • Omg watching all these film making movies, it's highly inspired! Team work is great, music is awesome, and everyone knows exactly what should be done.

    Thumbs up & respect

  • Star wars is forever.

  • this episode was the best one of 1-3 and is the only one actually comparable to 4-6.

if you don't like it, you don't get it.

  • Wow.. I can imagine their faces when they left...

  • I still don't see how so many people call this movie bad, it was awesome for me! Now I was born in 95 but don't go thinking thats why I like this, I actually saw episode 4 first. But this is one of my favourites. Stop hating, just cause you grew up with the first 3, doesn't mean they're the best to everyone else.

  • @Totaly14 You have much to learn about what makes a film "awesome"

  • @InsightMediaPro you don't even know my name... what was the point in replying to my comment if it was to just tell me I learn something?

  • Hey, at 4:01 you can see pay phones in the background.

  • really enjoyed the movie...

especially the saber fighting scenes at the end, which were aweful in the original movies.

  • @aydoooo The sword fights in the original had heart and soul, were full of feeling and emotion and had meaning. Kenobi as an old Jedi, weak and frail taking on Vader in order to help save the Princess and the galaxy. Luke vs HIS FATHER and then gets castrated (how powerful), a mature, Jedi master Luke defeats his father and thus helps to redeem him. The sword fights in the Prequels were over the top, soulless and meaningless and frankly boring.

  • @USTUBE4000 Are you serious? Action is one major thing in FIGHTING SCENES. Meaningless? Really? You do know that the recent three movies happened before the orginial ones right? So how could those fights be meaningless?

You gotta be a geek to argument the way you do. It's ok.

  • @aydoooo Like so many who grew up with the Original Trilogy & wore out our VHS tapes watching them over and over, the hope, waiting and anticipation for the Prequels, of which characters & histories, were spoken of in Ep 4 - 6, we had great expectations. We really thought we'd see a good story, with solid acting from well crafted actors (Kenneth Branaugh as Obi-Wan) and intriguing themes of temptation, corruption, betrayal. Instead we got MTV meets Video Games meets Teen Magazine. Meaningless.

  • @aydoooo Watch return of the jedi where Luke smashes Darth Vader's lightasber again and again in rage, you feel his uncontrollable rage as he cuts his fathers arm off. Everytime an arm came off in the prequels I couldn't give a shit.

  • I love the fans waving the glow in the dark dildos and how they didn't show audience reaction after the film.
