  • fucker stole her stickers.

  • JESUS!!! I used to LOVE this programme!

  • CROC!!! Ha

  • God, this takes me back! John Potato's Newsround!

This stuff is of a higher quality than today's TV for adults!

I wish it were still the late 80s/early 90s, before TV went down the toilet!

  • :^D Have i got news for all you benders out there! Lol how could they get away with it!?

  • Oooh the blonde one is making me hot! GET your RAT out!

  • "Boy, have I got a treat in store for all you benders tonight!"

  • i remember watching this every sunday without fail as a kid!

  • Nick Knuckle! legend!

  • Round The bend was satirically & intellectually superior to Headcases, which came out almost 20 years later & was written for adults....

    Pause for thought.

  • FREE GHOSTBUSTERS STICKERS!!!

  • amzing

  • These really need to be brought back. Unchanged.

  • You can watch all the Round The Bend episodes at Tony Husbands website.

  • @7perricone aww brilliant, you made my day 7perricone!

  • anybody remember/got clips of 'your mother wouldn't like it' 80s kids show??

  • I wasn't allowed to watch this because it was 'too rude!' - so I had to watch it standing by the lounge door so I could see if mum was coming!

  • When the hell was Palace Hill out ????, it's shit

  • Brings back memories! Always hated the croc from Round the Bend though and Gilbert the Alien, was more a Knightmare fan that kinda thing. Btw the teacher from Palace Hill, wasn't she also in The Queen's Nose?

  • @mightymeaty

Oh i like the crocodile, but i'm with you i hated Gilbert he always used to frighten me.

God 1990 i was 6 we might have missed out on the pucks and the rock's but we got great childrens TV.

  • Thunderpants anyone? Bumm-Ra etc...

  • ohhh man, i used to love watching this as a kid. thanks uploader - i love it.

  • God, Jeanne Downs and Scally... and also the 'Look In' magazine... the 1980s was the best decade to be young in

  • Palace Hill was awesome,, it featured Ian Kirkby and Steve Ryde who both went on to appear in Dick & Dom in da Bungalow and The Slammer, Steve produced both shows and Kirkby played on screen charatcers including the legendary DCI Harry Batt

  • i remember when they did a send up of Transformers, he transformed into a bum! and his fatha transformed into a slipper

  • does anyone remember the name of a one off show from around 90-91, featured loads of puppets (all animals) in a camper van and they stayed at some haunted house? Was the makers of spitting image

  • @RocktorWho Winjim Pom?

  • @MikeSmith1982 no, it was The Winjin Pom (due to the act it was based on Australians)

  • @MikeSmith1982 mike smith you have made my life complete! just looked it up and it is that, cheers!

  • Benders, nice kids show, i loved it !lol

  • well boy fuck i knew this show was real !!!MY MATES dont remember that far back remember this been on every saturday moring in ireland!! ha ha

  • This wouldn't be allowed now, was surprised it was allowed then, the kiddies answer to Spitting image!

  • ah fond memorys.... I was 6 years old back then.... those were the days you would get a clip round the ear by your mum or a copper for being naughty... not like now... where did it go wrong!!!

  • See, this is the mark of a good children's show.

It's still funny when I'm watching it at the age of 26.

  • Did he refer the viewers as "all you benders"? lmao

  • finally found it. thanks a million! this was my favorite show, really rude. wee man

  • I been looking for this for ever

  • omfg for ever i searched for this

  • Takes me back to my childhood!!!!

  • Round The Bend was quite simply the greatest kids TV show ever made. I think it lasted for about 3 series before it was pulled over complaints from 'concerned' parents over the toilet humour. In reality it was probably one of Mary Whitehouse's final victories.

  • does anyone have clips of thunder pants

  • I love this.

    It smells of Spitting Image.

  • Spitting Image did make Round the Bend.

  • @AndrewJimScott The puppets were made by the same company.

  • and a few other things!

  • does anyone remember origanol openin of Palace Hill which was the Grange hill opening with a shark infested swiming pool

  • Oh for the days when Children's TV actually displayed some kind of imagination instead of being CGI nonsense imported from the USA

  • amazing ive been looking for this for years....many thanks haha

  • Freakin brilliant!!!! My 2 favourite shows from when I was a kid. Been looking for Palace Hill stuff for ages.

  • FLASHBACKSss god i havent even thought of this for ages but it was my favourite thing. gotta find these

  • 0:50 *treat in store for all you benders out there* hahahaha! classic!

  • Has anyone still got the Palace Hill series?

  • nah sorry, I wish I did man!!

  • palace hill is what we were lookin for too - bonus to find round the bend but anyone got palace hill????

  • omg i remember this! its a shame there arent more episodes on here :(

  • Thanks for this it brings back memories for me.

  • Palace Hill was a send up of Grange Hill the origonal open for Palace Hill had the comic book opening like Grange hill but featerd a shark ifested swining pool

  • "THE NINETEEN-FORTIES!"

  • Oh man, I fookin' loved this show and for the longest time I couldn't remember the name of it.

    God bless the internet.

    Rock on Doc Croc!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome, thatnks for posting this. Round the bend was great and I completely forgot about Palace Hill until I saw this.

  • He's got a treat for all you benders!

  • thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • this show ruled...

  • my god havent seen this in what close to 20 years and finally found it i knew it was real none of my mates remember it !!

  • Oh man... I LOVED this show :)

  • me and my dad loved this

  • this was so good!!! it was made by the people who did spitting image. i loved stupid stuff like this! it made me what i am today (a cartoonist). does anyone remember a comic in the 80s for kids called the BOG PAPER???

  • Yes Bog Paper!!! - im sure the first issue came with a 'see how smelly you are' free gift thingy

  • What about OINK!! comic, that was ace to

  • don't recall OINK!! but I do remember ACNE (with Billy Butt the really thick bully who looked like a mini Grant Mitchell from eastenders..) i guess a precursor to VIZ on the adult shelf..personally I read DC comics(!) and just watched 'Round the Bend' or 'Spitting Image' for my sins!

  • have you got the palice hill story with the mice i watch this when i was a kid liked it bit creepy to be honest lol thanks for posting this do you remember a show where its run by two guys and this family of puppets move in i remeber a bit the mother starves and gose on a rampage its been bugging me for ages thanks

  • no sorry this is all I got :(

  • Was that Spatz show about a burger bar or something like that?

  • Yes it was.!

    I loved that show...

  • OH MY GOD i loved round the bend. Gosh i was like 4 years old and i still remember it. Brings so many wonderful memories.

  • "Boy have I got a treat in store for all you benders out there tonight" he said that, he said that!!

  • man I loved round the bend. How is it that there are no clips of it on youtube? *cry*

  • im sure i remember a cartoon on round the bedn about a boy who farted alot? or sumthing to do with his trousers, any ideas?

  • It was Thunderpants, it was basically Lion-o from Thundercats and his main enemy was Bumraa

  • Yes Palace Hill it was strange ..but true, a rare delight in the 80s primary school unconscious..!

  • Notice how they treated you with respect and showed the credits instead of squeeing them and talking over them. TV was better then no contest.

  • I think these days the fact that there SO BLOODY MUCH of everything for kids of all ages..(anime, american cartoons eg. looney tunes, Jetix, Nickelodeon, etc CBeebies/ CITV ) this means there's less continuity among viewers. So TV becomes much less of a shared experience among them. We're the last generations that can have a retro collective memory (~80s-90s). But I'm beginning to think any age-range can argue that theirs was the defining era, when things were actually more authentic.

  • @mononokehime316uk yeah i hate it when they do that now!

  • I've always been wondering for years what this school comedy show I saw on CITV as a lil' kid was, having vaguely remembered the theme tune but not the name. So thank you for uploading this clip I say!

Palace Hill (as well as Your Mother Wouldn't Like It, which I personally don't remember from my childhood, being as I was only 1 when it first started!) appear to be criminally underdocumented on the internet, and could do with some more clips unearthed.

  • Gawd round the bend that's a classic!

  • gotta get some episodes of round the bend on you tube they are classic

  • i remember round the bend, i used to watch every time it was on!! classic!

  • Oh my! I rember Wee Man! Lol it took the mickey out of He-Man lol :-p

Oh yea and Thundercats. Mumra was Bumraaah :-p lmao

  • I had a dream today that told me to look for this.

  • that's a bit psychic or something similar - your dreams telling you what to search for. I had dreams like that, but about clips I have never found :$

  • I would... do something... to see Round The Bend again. I'm really itching to see the mini shows like the False Teeth one.

  • very strange... i had a dream telling me it was important to search for the words 'a dream told me to look for this' only last night. after searching, i find almost the exact same messages, and the uncover a video that haunts my very youth. ...the computer ages seems more spookier than ever to me :/ whats going on, help lol!

  • god i use to read look in magazine...feel so old! but loved this show

  • Was this the show with Roger Prentice, the apprentice dentist?

  • WIsh I could find more on Round the Bend. WHenever I talk to anyone about it, they always bangon about Round the Twist. WHat a great idea this is, a comedy sketch show for kids, that doesn't patronise them. And a little gruesome stuff toughens them up too

  • Blimey, I'd completely forgotten about those shows!! And yet the minute the Palace Hill theme started playing the words "Your mother wouldn't like it"/"you KNOW she wouldn't like it" drifted straight into my mind!!

Is that Holly from Red Dwarf at the beginning??

  • Brilliant! 'Round The Bend' was such a sick show. I loved it, but trying to eat your tea in front of it was impossible. I'm going to have to hunt down 'Pzycho The Magnificent' and 'False Teeth From Beyond the Stars' clips now. Oh the hideous 'Wee Man & The Masters of the Loo niverse'!!

  • Any luck?

  • I think I learnt my sense of irony and sarcasm all from this show I was so young and loved this show, thank you!!!

  • Loved this when i was a kid

    still do now :)

  • yeah it's weird, the evil magician in 'Wizbit' scared the shizzle out of me in a similar way..and the opening and end credits to 'Count Duckula' and 'Trap Door'. I think it's good to expose children to some scariness, which they in turn seemto find curious anyway..probably good for the imagination.

  • Memories!!!

  • FUCKING AWESOME!! Classic, cheers for the upload. But does anyone know where to get full episodes of round the bend???

  • SCALLY THE DOG!!!

  • wow.. i remember the opening credits so well.

if only someone could upload Kappatoo, my nostalgia journey on youtube would be complete.

  • " Have i got news for all you benders out their" ? Thanks crocodile, we're not all gay.

  • 'Let's go and meet the gang at Palace Hill!'

Kids TV was soo much better when I were a lad.

  • loved round the bend & i've been trying to remember this mental scool based show with a headteacher that keeps a big snake in the office & feeds kids to it... this is it! awesome!

    &

my mother DIDNT like it. ha ha

  • Oh god, I loved this show when I was a kid.

  • Pie in the Sky's still on ITV3!!

  • Thanks for the info nik418. I think that's a different one though (like Happy Families also has a different BBC series, which is confusing!)

  • Ah, the days when ITV actually made kids tv programmes rather than just stick crappy American cartoons on!

  • Ah, back when ITV would spend money on children's programming, how brilliant it could be.

  • Brilliant. And so lovely to see Young Harry Batt (Ian Kirkby). I couldn't stop myself singing along with the Palace Hill theme (big part of my childhood), I even remembered the lines 'your mother wouldn't like it' (being the title of the show).

  • Omg the memories that were suddenly sparked back into life after seeing this! I remember Scally too!

  • Somebody.. Please build a time machine!! :-(

  • palace hill nw tht brings bk memories damn i feel so old

  • Just noticed Steve Ryde the legendary CITV announcer in the Palace Hill clip! He's the one playing the boy with a grey cap and grey trousers and top! He also has glasses on too!

  • "Boy, have I got a treat in store for all you benders out there!"

I had the Round the Bend comic...

  • hahahaha I used to get Look In magazine!

  • So did I! It was a great magazine and I had those stickers too!

  • lmfao i got a spanner shoved write up the middle of me oooerrr LOL

  • NOOOOOOOOOOO WAY!!! i forgot all about these 2 programmes till i just saw them now!!! Round The Bend ahahahhah and Palace Hill i used think that snobby girl was Margret Thatcher when i was a kid LOL

  • the snobby girl was probably meant to be a parody of Thatcher, given the time period the show was made in

  • "for all you benders"??????

    ooooer missus

  • There has to be more Round the Bend clips somewhere. I've been after them for years.

  • Youtube needs more round the bend clips, dammit!

  • An early look at the man behind DCI Harry Batt in Palace Hill there!

  • Round the bend was legendary, so funny!

  • anyone who hasnt seen palace hill has been pwned in my mind

  • I use to love this. Anymore clips?

  • no siobhan, just this I'm afraid :(

  • What is the opening line of the Palace Hill theme? I can't make it out.

  • I think its:

Lets go and meet the gang at Palace Hill

  • is palace hill the same program where an gorgours alien female crashes in the school and the good looking fancy her and his dog of a girlfriend is all jelous i remeber one screen where said dog is draged in to a blackhole by talking rats

  • Yes, I think so...

  • brilliant!

  • get more round the bend on naaaaaaaaaaaah!

  • Got any more of round the bend?

  • My cousin played Binky Spoon (the blond girl sat at the back of the class) in the palace hill clip, she speaks of it still fondly and its great to see it again.

  • Hi, that's amazing! I would so love to communicate with anyone who was involved with Palace Hill and Your Mother Wouldn't Like It. I believe the writer was Peter Corey. Sorry if it's intrusive, but could I please send your cousin a message via yourself or does she have an email address?

  • That's amazing! I've been in touch with the series writer Peter Corey, but it would be absolutely great to communicate with anyone who acted in the series. An old faviourite that's never been repeated....your cousin wouldn't have any recordings would she?

  • Was the croc also in the pink windmill?

  • Why cant I remember this, I can remember "you mother wouldnt like it" but the ITV intro is new to me

  • Loud Lucy!

  • what was that female cartoon character on round the bend who was always shouting?

  • Nancy's nose is like a big dick

  • Round The Bend, I remember a puppet made out of shit.

  • that was kylie manure

  • ireally that Palace Hill had some sexual subtext

  • maybe, i think i understand what you mean, but it's general subversive of the original Grange Hill concept. I mean, Round the Bend was an all-round subversion of the children's puppet show, e.g. Rainbow.. it was full of filth, innuendos and general puppet violence hehe

  • Just answered my question! I didnt need to ask that, apparently she works with a live band called Madison Square and she does voiceover work now!

  • Jeannie Downs was a cool kids TV presenter, I adored her, she was one of my faves! Wonder what she does now?

  • i have absolutely no recolection of the first program but i remember palace hill being the biggest pile of shit ever. i remember it being embarrassing and an insult to my inteligence and i was only 9.

  • 1940s punishments! Ian Kirkby of Dick n Dom fame was in Palace Hill right?

  • I dunno about that one UKArchiveTV, he sounds a bit young to have been involved in this, from the very late 80s. On second thoughts he does look a bit like this guy though!

  • According to IMDB he was 'Chelsea Bun'. Of course he was the famous 'Loaf' in Your Mother Wouldn't Like It, the Central Junior Television Workshop show which gave birth to PH.

  • cheers for that info UKArchiveTV, wow, i thought he was a quite young little chappy. Going by PH, he must be mid 30s at least this was two decades ago now.

  • I loved both of these as a kid. CITV's shows always felt more adult to me and less stuffy than CBBC.

All we need now is "All Change" with Frankie Howard.

  • Memory over load!!!

    I want to cry. lol

  • Palace Hill was weird! I feel so old ( - ;

  • Anyone got more round the bend?

  • Where did you see more Round the bend cause i have tried to look and can't find none apart from this.

  • Round the bend was hilarious. all them skethes like the killer teeth, psycho the magnificent, and the great song by fergie during the fight of Louie and Jemima.

"Oh grab your partner by the coat

Twist around and grab his throat

now he's standing on your toes

bump him on his hairy nose.

"Go on Jemima ...oh nice one"

Dr Croc: "Right stop it you two. Right viewers i think you'd better watch the next sketch, what happens next isn't going to be pretty.

    Jamima and Louie: "(Gasps)....ohoh"

  • Palace Hill was so cool! And Round the Bend was classic! I loved them!

  • "Hello Benders"

    I wish I was 10 again :(

  • Please more palace hill! The only episode i remember involved the queen, and something about her not going round waving in that circular fashion for some reason but then everyone started choking and they realised that the queen must stay constantly waving in that circular way she does in order to produce oxygen for the earth X) I need more!! (cheers :D )

  • sorry mate that's all i got folks..if only i had more episodes palace hill and rtb were.. both 'radical' and 'crucial' to my school days (!!)

come on out there..more episodes please

  • Palace Hill - Nostalgia overload!

I remember when this was just a sketch on "Your Mother Wouldn't Like It" and then became a show in it's own right.

  • get some more episodes of Palace Hill - this show rulled !!

  • Palace Hill - What a legendary show, still cannot believe no one has posted a full show as yet. I used to love it after school, it was class. Thanks for posting this by the way!

  • Finally, Palace Hill! I loved this show when I was a kid & have been dying to see it again for years (I think it finished around 91 or 92 & sadly it hasn't been repeated.) Finally, after all this time I've finally come across a snippet! Thanks so much for posting the clip.

  • xx I remember rushing home to this, from school. Thxs for trip down memory lane.

Now childrens television is on digital or satelite. Those were the days when it aired on tele ( me love ). Thankyou x
