I'm an UNINSURED 50 year old male and I don't want anything to do with any federal government programs. Everything they touch is a complete disaster. Health care is not a "RIGHT", it's a service one MUST purchase. To STEAL from a PRODUCER so you can give to a PARASITE is MORALLY WRONG and will quickly lead to POVERTY for ALL and good health care for NONE.

Do they loose what is regarded as a basic right in EVERY other developed country, namely access to adequate medical care? They're opposition to healthcare reform is not about death panels (because the insurance companies already decide who lives or dies) or the public option, it's about their hatred of losing to Obama and the fear of losing their payoffs and profits from the drug & insurance companies. omg do you live in Canada?, yes there are sometimes some waits but if you need an MRI you will get one. The difference is that its up to your doctor do decide if you get one not you. So yes if i go to my doctor and say I want an MRI first the government won't pay for it and ill be waiting months. If my doctor orders one its free and might take only a week or two, if its an emergency it would be right away. Get your facts straight we have great health care system.

no but when my did had a fungal infection in his nasal cavity he got one in about 2 hours. It was an emergency and they had him in surgery that afternoon. My sister is also a nurse so i have a fairly good understanding of our health care system. Not saying its perfect but no one is ever turn away because they cant pay or goes bankrupt trying to save the life of a loved one.

I am glad that you have had a good experience so far with Canadian health care, but not everyone has been as fortunate. Where do they turn when they are not taken care of by the govt. system? Private practice in Canada now is extremely expensive. The inevitable result is that if you do need acute care (which the government programs will not be able to sustain) you will have to be rich to afford it anyway.

I am curious when has Government ever been able to run any sort of Medical Endeavor successfully? Medicare will be bankrupt in 2017, Medicaid is bankrupting about 13 states currently, the VA provides abysmal care to our veterans.

Massachusetts tried to do a pilot program similar to this and is failing miserably. Hawaii was only able to run a similar program for about 7 months and had to abandon it?

How about some Tort reform? Or Health care savings plans with Catastrophic coverage?

What stikes me (as a foreigner) is that the politicians (rep AND dem) are so openly corrupt and that THAT's not the issue everbody's talking about. Corruption is everywhere but the USA is the only country I know where the bribes (called "donations") are booked and made public and legalized. So it's all in the open how much money each politician receives from healthcare industrie. And it's for everyone to see how that effects their voting and talking.
