yea i made a costom map whit a air ship in it i added a lava tanks to simulate full and well sinse lava afexter the corno block at the time my ship burn will i was doing oder shit
@LoodleRyuzaki well,i suppose your loss was my (and others) gain, because of this i figured out why my house was burning every time i lit the Netherrack.also because it was pretty goddamn funny :P
Aw no mic audio? I can just imagine it "FUCK FUCK! NO! FUCK ME! SHIT ALL MY HARD WORK!" one thing i learned chimney in wooden mansions work just make the it where there is no wood around it for 3 or 4 blocks
@GhostTeam21 Actually, I was pretty calm when it happened ^^
I was more excited about my first ever fire in minecraft XD
Although it was the first house I was really proud of...
As you can see I switched to peacefull when it startet burning and rebuilt it. Afterwards I burnt it down again on purpose, because I felt like I cheated.
Also, the problem wasn't the wood around it, but that there wasn't enough room above it.
When the fireplace is cramped, it's more likely for the fire to spread.
i packed ym huse with 6 things of TnT then forgot you cant pick them up, so i was like 'shiuld i bow them up?' i ended up hitting one and had to rebuild the whole thing from scratch, i lost chests, ladders, gold, pumpkins, lol :P
i would spend hours making a mansion just to set it on fire(or explode it) on purpose because im a pyromaniac but i don't own minecraft so there is no point.
@MartijnHJ If you want to keep the wood look, you can use wooden half steps. They're just a reskin of stone half steps, so they don't burn.
But that might get changed soon.
You can however experiment, by making a lava pool and place wood blocks in different distances, to see how many blocks apart from the lava it has to be to not burn and then make one room in the mansion out of unburnable material, where you then make your pool.
@MartijnHJ yea i got that too and when i wanted to make a chimney too it burned too i hate much water buckets so its not all gone but i hate to fix it much (dutch so my english sucks:P)
That's nothing. Built 3 big towns and 12 villages so me and my friends can play on. Made a chimney, one town burnt. Spreaded to the trees around it to the next and to 3 villages. Then the utter terror truly begun. There was a huge forest made by my friend by sapling and bone meal so we could do a quest. Burnt all down to the NEXT town and to the next town. Kept going until all destroyed. A few months of my life wasted. Still going if I go to the save (yeah I still have it)
I had an entire world of mine burn down because of a surface lava lake, THEN I would have liked to have a backup, but this was my own fault, so using a backup here is at the same level as using inventory edit: cheating.
Same thing happened to me. I built a stone fireplace in my wooden house and figured it wouldn't burn seeing as how no wood was touching the fire place (makes sense), but no! Almost immediately my house was burning.
I managed to save it from complete destruction though.
It just has to have at least trhree air blocks above the block you set on fire (that's what happened here, I just left 2) and encase the fireplace in bricks.
Leave one side open, but place halfblocks right before the fire. That's the most secure way of making a chimney.
Also, make sure that the burning block doesn't touch any wooden or other burnable blocks, even beneath it.
Experiment outside before you do it in an actual house
@steamywaffles Yeah, this was the only time I ever played on peaceful (because I was already on fire when I alt+tab'ed back to the game). I punished myself for it by burning the rebuilt house again ^^
@iamdooingyermom just yesterday my favorite single player world went up in flames...
I spawned in a giant forest biome and buit a pretty big town full of wooden houses, a windmill, a church, and when I went exploring the world, I came across a surface lava stream, that ignited the trees...
Long story short: nothing was left but a few floating stairs and fences XD
Besides, one time a cave i made got flooded and I had fires to light the place. And the water just flowed around them. It might keep the fire from spreading, but I think it only puts out fires if it flows down on it from above.
@booboo481 I'm only playing Minecraft for 6 weeks now, I didn't know how to do backups back when this happened. And this is my only world.
Besides, I would only use backups if my safestate was broken, because it doesn't really feel like survival if you could just fix mistakes you made by reloading.
I also burnt down the house again on purpose after I rebuilt it, because I felt like a pussy for putting out the fire and rebuilding the house in peacefull.
Luckily you stil have your flint and steel...

@TheEvilninja95 Yes, on the fireplace.
I watched it a few seconds and thought all was fine, so I turned around to keep working on the house.
Then suddenly I was engulfed in fire.
I did not leave enough room above the fire, so it spread to the sides ^^"

Catisbackable 10 months ago
@Catisbackable Me too. I've made quite a big town (all wooden buildings) in a forest biome.
Then a surface lava lake set the forest on fire. Nothing was left but a few stairs, fences, bricks and glass.
When I recorded this I was only playing Minecraft for a few weeks and had never encountered a fire.

@XavTheMinecrafter That's why you should experiment first.
I skipped that step, which lead to this ^^
