  • Sorry about this question if it is too obvious for some people: Why are crash test cars usually painted bright orange or yellow? Is it some color that allows a better analysis of what happens with the structure or something like that? Does it allows to place and see in an easier way all the side markers that are placed on these cars for their tests?

  • they are painted a matte finish either with orange or yellow because when they record the data through high speed cameras the paint won't cause glare, instead of a metallic paint finish it might cause some glare and scientist/ researchers might miss something they weren't able to see.

  • Passenger airbags in 1990? I never would have thought. No one restricted the front seat to people 13+ back then.

  • You could actually order a passenger airbag in 1986... very expensive option though. They became standard in 1991 in the US market.
