It's well optimized. The complexity is back, and so are the prebattle speaches :)

IT beats Rome TW, even if you prefer that setting... From a gameplay and visual stand point, AI, ext.. this beats Rome.

One odd thing I found in the demo, which I'm sure wont be changed on final release. I can train a Ninja and rank them up into a highly proficient Assassin by burning down a library every turn, and if I fail I still gain experience. It seems its easier to sabotage a library than any other specialist settlement, and also less cost/risk than say, burning down a rice paddy.

@Blahdabbadoo Yes you're absolutely correct in that observation. Neither Ran nor Kagemusha featured bodyguards wearing these balloon things they called ''Horo''. It's main function was really to defend against arrows by slowing them down, and distorting the silhouette of the Samurai making them difficult to hit. I know from accurate history descriptions that Hideyoshi's personal bodyguards all wore gold horo.

@SNEAKY996 there is rome total war for mac, but when feral interactive (the company that converted it(legally of course)) converted it, they messed some things up. most are minor, like general speeches, but the main thing is a phalanx spear wall is impassable. this has all sorts of affects, from if urbans dont use pila they will lose to militia hoplites, and hoplites getting destroyed every time by phalangites due to the longer spears... And in phalanx v phalanx fights they just sit there...

@Whatever4690 The castle you saw on the demonstration is historicaly correct but there will also be other types of castles to choose from (they are also historicaly correct :P). The fire arrows where used aswell. Its main purpose is to fill the enemy with fear and also setting buildings on fire ofc. Shogun 2 TW don't don't take place in ancient Japan. it takes place in the feudal Japan in the middle of the 16th century. sorry for being a mr. know it all xD

Samurai... FAR too much credit is given to these fancy little nobles. They had terrible weapons and armour (also the only culture to ignorant to use shields) and were so arrogant and stuck up that they would never fight as proper units and would instead have their little childish duels on battlefields. Any Medieval European army would have slaughtered Japanese samurai because our armies knew how to fight with tactics and professional order and discipline since the times of ancient Greece.

@EvidensInsania What about the knights of the Medieval they wore armor that would be so heavy that they could barely move without their horses. The Samurai of the same era knew how to bend steel to form history's most well crafted blade and plate/leather combination armor that surpass that of the medieval knight. In a one on one fight on foot the knight would easily be out maneuvered and the skill level between the two is far to different to even compare.
