Hi, nice job. I'm thinking about buying a Akai S2800, but I can't find the user manual in the internet. Would you please tell me something about it? My first interest is to load those old Akai cds via SCSI, but I don't know if its connection has 25 pins or 50 pins, and I don't if it would work. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
You make really good music man - I have watched a few of your videos and you really have a musical spirit! If you have a moment, I'd like to ask you opinion on a hardware choice. I have just ordered an Ensoniq TS 12 to augment my Korg X5D, and am wanting a synth to run them through. I am trying to decide between the Blofeld and the MicroQ for making music similkar to this to which I will also be adding some vocal mantras I have composed. If you were in my shoes which would you pick?

@boriscrispin 2001 A Space Oddysey, I think. If you haven't seen it, you need to travel back in time and buy some decent acid and watch it, it's the only way you have a hope in hell of understanding it.
Personally I'd rather watch Solaris any day of the week :)
@H4NDCRAFTED Cheers :-) Oh god the Blofeld..The synth I love to hate lol Yea it's buggy as hell, the knobs suck and it's built like crap....It output stage is po po etc etc Yet it sounds pretty cool and you can coax some great sounds out of it..It's very annoying cos I have a Micro Q and Blofeld and had a XT before these and I can say allthough they are all in a simmilar ballpark, you can't own just one hahah The uQ sounds better but can't do everything this can..the XT sounds lush too
@vinyljunkie07 Also regarding it's filters and OSC's I think these are the weakest on a Waldorf yet..Honestly if you ever can try a Q or Q rack that's where it's at.
@vinyljunkie07 Tnxs for the advice, seeing as the only other synths I have owned were some of the trash knocked out at the end of the 90s, you can prob see why the filters on this impress me lol. I'd be looking to sell it but I have the Key version and use it as a master. The keyboard feels really nice not sure if I want to let it go. for that...but if it locks up one more time arrrHHHHH.
@javiceres Of course a synthesizer module is going to have better build quality that a keyboard synthesizer for the same money. Those that abuse hardware might consider the R3 bad quality, seems fine to me. Not as good as my Kaossilator PRO or KP3, but again those are smaller units with fewer moving parts.
@vinyljunkie07 I think that Blo's filters are probably better (except comb type) than Q's, it might be blasphemy but I really think so.
Kinda more sophisticated/closer to analog?, less prone to be too harsh.
Brillance parameter is also mana, although OSCs don't get to sound like Q's OSCs even when Brillance set to 127, if so this synth would b 2 good to b true.Of course you neither have the filter interpolation option of the Q...etc. Let's pray for the Stromberg.
amazing how you did those chordtexures with the blofeld. now it's time to take my blo out of the box and create something :-) never sed this synth that much because i don't really like the programming on it. but with aa vst editor it is possible to get some stunning sounds out of it!
buuuutiful. I just got a Virus snow and am hooked on hardware! Always made electronic music with VST's but I'm really looking forward to unplugging from the computer and digging into hardware only creations (the computer seems to suck away my enjoyment/creativity).
This video's convinced me to get a Blofield to add a few more sweeping sounds, and help add more tracks to the lame 4-timbral aspect of the Snow.
And an MPC too. You should get commisions for this.
@coylesolid Thank you! :-) I would also recommend a real analogue to complement the Blofeld, not new analogue but old analogue or even old DCO based synths...I think you won't go back to virtual analogue after that ;-)
@vinyljunkie07 Yeh I'd love to get some analogues but don't know where to start, you got any suggestions for deep oldschool sounds, bit spacey, bit boards of canada, bit unique.
Can you tell me how you've got your blo setup in the mpc, is it through midi (I didn't think it was possible cause blo doesn't have midi out?) or just plain audio?
@vinyljunkie07 I just got a blofeld. I also have an Electribe EMX that I spend a lot of time milking in Ableton to get decent sounds. I'd love to get a an old analogue synth to throw in the mix. Any particular models that you recommend? Something hopefully affordable for a college student with a part time job :p
@coylesolid Me To Man I Thought I Was The Only One Who Felt That Way I Have An Mpc 2000Xl To And InLuv With its Sequencer And WorkFlow Simpleness I Have An DAW Logic Pro SetUp But Some How It Makes Me Uninspired And Drainz And Makez Me Forget My Creativeness When Trying To Click Arrange Shit etc I FInd Im Better With OutBoard Hardware Workstations Etc Im Saling My Whole Daw Rig
i have headphones, so nice. everything i've come across of blofed vids sounds like 80's which is fine but i've been searching to hear it sound like 'modern ambient' like gui boratto's "scene" or johan agebjorn. w this vid i have hope its capable of that. i been mullin it over between the microkorg and this. the microkorg has a plus with the mic but i think this may have so much more possibilities.... anyone?
Thanks, read the info to the side of the vid and it says what synth does what...the whole track is only 1xpart Blo 1xpart jx and MPC drums and played live on the MPC...vocals are procesed live too
I read it but under the word "string" it can be either the first filtered synth sound or the one that comes in after in the background less loud in volume.
Thanks, the vocal was just live as I was playing the MPC lol I used the Akai S-3200XL's FX through and used the pitch shift on my voice with some long bright reverb ;-)
Blofeld is nice but seeing as you got a uWave1 I would HIGHLY reccomend the Q Rack....actually all of them lol they are all nice
The real time pitch shift is good. I've only done that kind of pitch shifting as post processing before.
I always keep an eye out for Waldorf gear at good prices. Q seems to hold its value pretty well though. If I can afford one, it's definitely on the cards.
Hi there. did you use all 3 oscillators in this preset? are they typical saw, square, pwm waves or custom "spectrum" type? both filters active? How's programming with the blofeld in general? I mean, only a few knobs... isn't it a bitch? great piece of music btw...
Using two wavetable oscilators with wavetables from the XT and one standard analogue modeling osc, two filters in serial connection. It's VERY easy to program and it's a vrey deep synth but thats not a issue
Thanks mate..but I did something a bit crazy..I just got a Micro Q too lol I don't need it but it was at a good price hahah help me from my self hahah
Thanks Vincent, I used to have a pulse a few years back with a Micro Q...the Pulse is one AMAZING mono synth, never heard anything as loud lol What's the access programer? is that a programer for the Microwave 1? If so MANN THAT'S COOL! the microwave 1 is lovely, never played one but it's got real waldorf dna from the Wave and analogue filters :-)
yes it´s a programmer built by ACCESS for the microwave I. i´m already uploading a video with a track where i just used the microwave 1. nothing else. pulse is the loudest synth i know, too. so awesome :-)
NICE!! Can't wait to hear the results. Waldorf, Roland and Clavia make some of my fave synths...ohh ohh Arp I love Arp's (not that I can afford one) lol
It may sound crazy but the Yamaha AN-1X and AN-200 are awsome modeling synths.
Yep, this is my usual jam where it's beeing sequenced by the MPC. It's a very deep and complex synth capable of a LOT
It's also got comb filters which are the building blocks of phisycal modeling so you can get very expressive sounds from it. The wavetable rock, the filters rock the 16 part multy timbrality rocks man I love it! lol
The only non Blofeld synth sound here are the strings which are from the Roland.
remember you reply on me a few weeks ago "it's all about the waldorf Q & wave"? :)
This is actually all the waldorf's in one at a very reasonable price simply because all the hardware costs (keys, knobs, material) are reduced due to the software-like operating style
Yeah it's great, but the Wave and Microwave 1 had analogue filters and on the Wave you could make your own wavetables. The XT allowed this through PC software good news is they want to implement this on the Blofeld.
It also still lacks some things the Micro Q had like multiple outs and audio in/vocoder.Over all though yeah it's like all the best of Waldorf in one :-) good stuff
Cool stuff dude, hope you like it as much as I do! I kept getting out bid on Waldorf XT's so after speaking to Holger at Waldorf I just though bah why not and got the Blofeld...I don't regret it one bit but the Waldorf sound is a bit like marmite, you either love or hate it..alwas surprizes me when people say it sucks lol they want analogue and while analogue sounds lovely you need a contrast beeing this.
I like this groove.. (..me.. still grooving on Yamaha RS7000..)

I really enjoyed this, is that 2001 ?
I love my Blofeld Keyboard, it is buggy as hell but the textures it can make...and those filters are some of the best digital filters I have heard.
I'm trying to look at what it can do rather that what it can't, but I don't trust it to packup completely.
Will Waldorf ever fix this thing!
Love the demo man...got my hd25s on my head....that some deep layering, reminds me of the sounds Timewriter gets, his my fav deep house producer.

@vinyljunkie07 I don't agree at all, I had the uQ and now have the Q and the Blo, from the start the output of the blo is weaker BUT:
-Check out ALL intrnal synth levels, specially speed sens of the amp section.
-Using filter drive doesn't create internal clipping as with the Q (wich is often a problem) and it REALLY boosts the output.
-More stuff but I'm too tired
I wouldn't say the Blo is worst, in some regards is plain better (filter drive, wich is very important).
Built like crap?! -> Korg R3
