  • @mesvidsfavoris This version of Purple Haze rocks. I like Jimi, but I like The Cure's version better. And Volkswagen has a version of a Rolls Royce too. It's called the Phaeton. $100,000 for a W12 Premier edition. It rocks too.

  • The Cure doesn't do covers...they INSPIRE covers.

  • Not only did the Cure "do the man right" they literally created a very unique version. In my opinion, this is the best remake of any song ever done. I think Jimmie is proudly smiling down from above with approval.

  • Wow!

  • love the way the cure did this song. love the explosive lead guitar part great sound thanxz robert

  • thanks for posting.

    great song

  • Two best covers: No Matter What by Def Leppard and this one.

  • anybody! plz...if youve seen the movie "The Immortals" can anyone plz tell me what the name of the song thats playing while the ending credits are showing. thank you :)

  • @Zombsterify When did it come out? If you can give me some more info on it, I'll gladly try to find it for you.

  • Absolutely love this and I love Hendrix! Best cover I've ever heard in my life♥

  • I really think Jimi would be proud of these creative funky cats...doin they're dang thang!

  • It's al in my brain, it's in your brain too, it's always in the brain, everything is in the brain..

A must love song for me...

  • LOVE this!

  • i love this song and the band play it on my phone all the time

  • i love the cure.....and i love hendrix.....so this pretty much just made my life

  • When I was a d.j. I was given this c.d. single by the program mgr( they were only given out to radio stations) who knew what a big fan of Jimi and The Cure I was, then some asshole stole it from my apartment when I threw a big Halloween party. I hope he rots in Hell!

  • I had this c.d. single that was only given to radio stations and some asshole stlole it from me at a party I threw. Thieves SUCK!

  • Idk man. Jimi's Purple Haze has so much energy.

I think it'd be better if they didnt have the shitty drum machine, and theres just too many effects going around.

I appreciate that they covered my hero Jimi, but they honestly took all of the raw, powerful energy out of the song and replaced it with a mediocre, half tab of acid trip.

  • @Exeliz With respect I submit that if you dont think this is raw and powerful enough, you need to get a new stereo! I'm Bi-amped at 200 WRMS per side with 250 WRMS Sub, crossed over and fed into 6' (that's feet, not inches!) Magnepan MG3's. Feel the Power- Literally! Wanna know my fav song: The last one I listened to on that rig!-LOL

  • loved Jimi's song but the Cure r so spooky that they do the song justice!!!!!

  • I was at Rip Rocks one night after work with all my co-workers.It was getting late ,so we were all leaving at about 10:00PM.Suddenly the DJ put this on and a young man jumped up on the dance floor/stage and began dancing like I had never seen before. I was just in a trance watching as he moved to this beat.He was very comfortable,in his jeans, work boots and denim jacket. He was moving like no one I had ever seen including, Michael Jackson.Very sensual, I stayed and watched in awe for 5 minutes♥♥

  • what album is this from??

  • @MTakarabe this is off of STONE FREE a Tribute to Jimi Hendrix (1993) ;)a xo

  • @AubreyGirlMusic Exactly! Love that tape to this day! ♥

  • This is what I call a cover... a GREAT cover and no just re-sing/play the song

  • Gotta get a tab! for this guitar:)

  • this one is insane!!!! I was about to upload it, just great!!!

  • get this shit of

  • I'm a child of the 60's-a devoted Hendtix fan ,but this cut outdoes his thought so

    years ago still do

  • @Cyanblu I Agree 100% and I love Jimi, but there's something about this haunting sound with Jimi in the background, love it! ♥ We can love both versions right? LOL ♥

  • Wowwww. Insane. This right here, is MUSIC. - ♫ ♪

  • Sexy!

  • one of my favs!!!

  • FUCKIN >>AA!!

  • shit!

  • This is my favorite cover of one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite artists ... by a group that I wouldn't otherwise care for. IT'S GREAT STUFF!

  • absolutely fantastic track...makes you want to go out and do something really really WILD.....!!!!

  • I don't really like but i have to give them credit for actually doing something creative with it and not just trying to copy hendrix note for note

  • perfect song for getting shit-faced <:D

  • : ]

  • fantastica reinterpretazione... LUNARE e TRASCINANTE

  • i wana hear the virgin radio version itunes has...

  • unmistakeable drug-induced...

  • pretty cool man

  • DAMN SICK

  • Comment removed

  • @hapzap13 that was lame.

  • I'm sorry for hendrix

  • what is this? its not purple haze

  • @arielrebelfan1 yes it is

  • @arielrebelfan1 So lemme get this straight: If it doesn't sound EXACTLY like the original then it' doesn't qualify at all? If someone wanted to remake something, why do it the same way? This is their interpretation of it, in their own way. Sure, it doesn't sound like Jimi but they just updated it to fit the times.

  • @hellokittygoomonster the only reason that they did the song was because it is on a tribute album called stonefree. They did it to show how good jimmi was, not to rip him off

  • sooo enchanting :O

  • Big thumbs up for The Cure for this tribute

  • @Hellokittygoomonster you little heavy metal spoiled kid

  • @Hellokittygoomonster

Oh God Forbid someone else do something creative with a song. You're so open minded.

And the Ozzy and Zakk cover was awful, just a boring remake with no emotion or feeling.

  • I love the Cure... but this is a no.

  • They done the man right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @hapzap13 AMEN! I've been lookin all over for this one and Thank God I found it,cause All In My Brain lately things don't seem the same! Love this version! ♥

  • The best remake of any song that I have heard and I like more than the original. I dont hate the original one bit. I just like The Cure more.

Anyone like Beautiful People? Look it up. I think you will be really impressed!!

  • The best cover version of Jimi Hendrix I've ever heard !

  • Great Version.....

  • all the synths in this are killing Jimi...

  • genialna wersja

  • Just wondering why is this song sped up about 4 or 5 %? I have the CD version and it doesn't play that fast, and is 5:21 in length. some weird PAL conversion?

    Love this cover btw.

  • God.

  • are you a nut that song amazing good remix

  • No, the worst cover of all time is All saints version of Under the bridge..

  • I love this versin

  • Listen the radio version

  • Jimi would be impressed............ Stay Free.

  • ONE OF THEE BEST COVERS EVER PERIOD yeah at least it's original and that beat...I hate when people redo a song and do it exactly the same, especially a classic like this deserves the respect of some originality otherwise why bother

  • well, thats like, your opinion man

  • I think this is a nice cover, at least they put their own slant on it (unlike a lot of bands who cover the cure ie: AFI). Obviously it's not gonna 'beat' the original, covers aren't supposed to. It's a tribute, not a competition!

  • this is the most creative and beautiful I've heard from The Cure. Makes me think someone else helped them out. Listen to all the sound effects! If you've done purple haze, you know this is for real. Bravo!

  • I love it!! I can dance and party to it no matter where I am

  • Good cover. Love Jimi's version better, but this is very well done.

  • this version is for those with soul and an open mind. Yeah I said it

  • Well I suppose the same could be said for Jimi's version, especially considering the social norms of the time. I still like this version. It took them some balls to take on this song that is for sure lol.

  • @COGNACFOX

    love your soul, cognacfox

  • also i should mention that i cant stand covers like this, and just recently the flaming lips released a very poorly done version of dark side of the moon. its awful

  • and i agree, there were other poorly done covers on that album, mostly belly's version, but this song is first in the album and is definetly the worst cover on the album, of course, in my opinion

  • It has never been said that its better, Just a different remix, How can you even touch it. so OPen up your mind and learn how to groove and dance

  • a. the first song on that album, meaning that new listeners to the album have to sit through that garbage

    b. the song bears absolutely no resemblance to its greater counterpart, which individually. i would have been completely fine with the song if it were called something else, just not purple haze, because this song is not purple haze. nor will it ever be better than purple haze.

  • did you listen to the rest of the tribute album? none of the other musicians felt the need to change the song this greatly. i realize they were taking a risk in changing it like so, and i somewhat appreciate that, but its so poorly done. its techno gothic garbage, its practically unbearable to listen to. and even still, its fine that the song sucks, but the fact that is

  • They actually do a better version of Purple Haze I should post up.

  • Eagle9996, You are free to voice ur opinion and so can I, Shut the Fuck up its a Tribute, Period asshole.

  • this is an abomination. ive listened to the rest of the stone free tribute, and this song stands out as the rudest offense. it sounds absolutely nothing like the original song, doesnt even bear any resemblance to it. in fact, its so awful, its made never want to listen to the cure ever again. i understand that its a cover song, but it seriously sounds like a rude, poorly made, bastardized version of an excellent song. just awful

  • thats your opinion

just dont make it sound like its the real truth

this is a great version, if ya dont like it fine then

  • This?

I remember some pretty sad covers....

Then again, it's clear that you want emulation, not covers.

This version is more psychedelic than the original, and someone else on there did an an appallingly crappy note for note(but poorly executed) version of Are You Experienced.

I forget the band that did it, but I loved them till I heard that and realized they had no imagination.

  • ...also, you should hear what The Cure did to Foxy Lady on their first album, back in 1979.

Total Punk rock, just like Jimi.

  • Cries for someone to put together a sci-fi video for this

  • it was UNBELIEVABLE to me,when I heard it first, back to 2000. it was like a new breath to me...

Remember me cried being so happy when i heard this song..The CURE..

    LOVE'em since 1990 !

  • great! I like it! Both Jimi and Cure!!

  • The best cover The Cure ever did by a country mile!

  • uh...Foxy Lady?

    Go buy Three Imaginary Boys.

  • One of the few covers where a band makes it all their own.

And that is saying a lot when you have Jimi Hendrix. Who's

original is still better, a lot. But the Cure does a great job on this.

  • I'd say one of da best covers if not THE BEST damn one I've eveeer heard! Love the atmospheric/space-esque drops in the background sooo much! Absolutely puts me in a euphoric trance totally!Long live The Cure!!!

  • I got my awesome college album/awesome college memories mixed up ... it was on the "Stone Free" CD

  • Amazing!

  • I'm quite sure this was originally on the

    "Crow" movie soundtrack.

  • Hope you're not a cure fan because it definitely wasn't! Burn was on The Crow soundtrack! Shame on you! This was out long before that

  • Always love this track by The Cure.

  • If anybody gives a shit about art, then you'll be of genuine and sound mind and like this!

  • do you remember what cd this song was on?? i'm looking for it and i forgot the name.

  • on the rarities boxed set, with two more versions; this is quite magnificent

  • Join the dots box set get it now its awesome for cure fans

  • And here you are listening to it...

  • I was looking for this coover last 10 years, something fantastic

  • This is one of the MEANEST beats ever put on a remake. The Cure put the voodoo on this song, Hendrix would've been proud.

  • @vybe totally agree!

  • @vybe yes i agree with you....The Cure did a damn good job

  • @vybe I don't think you are right, I know your'e right. The atmosphere and the synchopation..... This is like a Filet Mignon Steak right here!!!

  • @TonMaison I'm with you on that. The whole aura is like a slow cobra strike: you may not see it but you're gonna feel it.

  • Oh yea! The Cure!

    This kicks butt!

    peace

  • Love this song, love Jimi!!!
