@Y2H First, don't compare them yourself if you don't want others to. Second, some blues is simple, some blues in complex. Listen to Charley Patton and tell me how simple those meter changes, variations, and syncopations are!
There is a 1969 recording on the Phillips label called 'Paco Doble' which features both Paco Pena and Paco de Lucia. Unfortunately, I've only ever heard of it and not heard the actual recording.
@KnightofZyryab I know dude, that A-hole won't let Paco talk for two seconds without interrupting. I'm thinking that interviewer is on something anyway..
@Y2H indeed blues is popular music , meanwhile flamenco players like to called them arte hondo, not folk, not popular, but there is a hughe diference on this, its hard to understand, there is a great TRADITION on this, probably he compared flamenco with blues with he didnt know anything of music after all.
@Y2H Blues popular simple and Flamenco complicated and classy?? How old are you son?
Blues and Flamenco are improvised, and come from the heart. They are similar in feeling, absolutely different in tecnique. And none of them are classy. Flamenco is folk.

did you hear the interview at least ??? paco pena a flmaneco player (who i assume is more expert than you in this field) has clearly explained that flamenco is a popular kind of music most of the flamenco greats dont read music they learned the art of flamenco by ear
@Y2H He's comparing them on the basis of both musics being folk music. the music is based on an aural tradition. they are the same in that regard. and really, flamenco music in itself isn't that complicated. the playing is incredible, but the same could be said in blues.
neger is varey offensiv word many people consider it offensive and it should be enough for you...the history behind the word is ATROCIOUS, you might take proud of the word I don't know you tell me!
@ddelpercio I know that. The problem is that when it is applied to people it means "people of African ancestry", or "Black people". It's closely associated with "the N word", which is a corruption of it. Unfortunately, a lot of people who are spring loaded to the offended position take offense to it.
awesome..

I STILL USE THE WORDS "NEGRO", "DOBRO", & "JEWS-HARP",
BUT FOLKS KEEP TELLING ME TO BE "POLITICALLY CORRECT",
& UPDATE MYSELF & NOT USE THOSE PERFECTLY FINE WORDS.
I GUESS I HATE BEING TOLD WHAT TO DO, I ONLY CHANGE
WHEN I WANT TO CHANGE, & NOT TO PLEASE OTHERS !

What did the interviewer say at 1:10 when talking about american blues players?
taorob3 2 years ago
Flamenco es un forma muy pura de musica y de tocar para las raizes Españolas, como asi lo es en el caso del blues en USA.
Flamenco is a very pure form of music and play for the Españolas roots, as well as is the case of "blues" in the USA(players).
MauriQ3 2 years ago
one reason is "improvise" as in the Blues
MauriQ3 2 years ago
Look, Blues is popular simple music. Flamenco is a complicated classy music please dont compare them!

Lo que dije yo, fue lo que dice el entrevistador!!!
says the interviewer...Not me!!
I play flamenco guitar style, I'm from a country that speaks "Spanish" and that's why I said that for those who did not understand.

@Y2H simple music? sounds like u just know only about 12 bar blues then ! u r already comparing it.
