I wanna dance with the guy in the white blazer looking like George Michal and like he's more ready for Miami Vice and A Flock of Seagulls than a night at the disco:-)
There were SO many problem in the Late 70's..But Pop Culture WAS Great...I would LOVE to Crawl right through this screen and Into that Dance Party...Right Now !!!
One of the all time greats. Cant believe the response here, but you know what....? I really dont care, stuff most of the 99000 who have viewed and had no musical soul. I have been in harmony with this since it was first released. Was perfection, is perfection, always will be perfection
Ray Parker Jr. may have got his start in 1978, but wait till The 80's; That's when he'll really shine. One thing though: Don't get into any lawsuits; You may never recover.
@reinell70 If your a great guitar player or singer, then you can name the group after yourself. Dont name it after the bass player/writer! but you also said producer!(the guy with the money)...Its plain egotistical...(none of the Motown acts wrote, produced, or played instruments on) So i guess your saying Marvin Gaye shoulda called himself Berry Gordy & the Funk Brothers (the producer, writers & the band on allmost all Motown)...
I heard this song on a battery powered, portable FM radio in early 1978 as a fifth grader, alone at my desk in my bedroom, doing hours of homework and book reports at night. Too young to understand the meaning of the song, I didnt know who the artists was or hear this again until recently, and now Im seeing this video for the first time in 2011. Wow. Seems like it was a wonderful time to be young and free.
This takes me back to a simpler time of life. Listening to the Top 40 every Sunday night and writing who was where. :) I wish I was old enough then to see groups like Raydo and the great artists of the 70s!
A great song i remember back in the disco days :-)This one and several other Raydio hits were my favorites to dance to and still ARE!!!!!Jill must have probably wanted to learn Jack to rock and roll instead of disco.......hit him in the head with a rock and watched him roll down the hill...LOL :-)Keep it cookin koujii334 :-)
I remember this being so profound to me as a first grader. Seeing the subject of one of my favorite nursery rhyme not being love by Jill in this song. I thought Jill must have pushed Jack down the hill and that's why he broke his crown. Poor jack sitting there with mud on his hands. I thought Jill was a bitch. LOL!!! oh the mind of a child and the way we interpret mature songs.
This song was made one year before the Atlanta Child Murders and 3 years after the John Wayne Gacy murderes in Chicago. Yes, this tune does bring back alot of memories- The Ebola virus was starting in Sudan.ect. The Jim Jones tragedy was also in the making-down in Gyanna! Remember all of these accounts in or around 1978?
@charlene12341234 This song reminds you off all the bad things of the time. you mean nothing was good times then? I was 18 & there were many positives!..Also you say this song was made one year" before" & 3 years "after" certain events. (not even near the date of this songs release.). ..Maybe you were havin a bad day, because it would be ashame to live with only negative thoughts..
I'm just beaming from hearing this song hours ago on an oldies channel in the car. Just love it!! Brings back some great memories. The 70's sure were good to us!! Thanks for sharing!!! Peace, everyone. :)
He snucked down ,he snucked down, broke his crown.....that is great ! you cant beat lyrics like that, i remember my sister playing this record until it warped, damn great song....Why do you think jack snuck down the hill?
Ladies if you don't give your man the love he need , Then he'll be like Jack . Going to find it some where , So don't be like Jill , B4 you see mud on his pants
Farrout all those awesome dancers and they put the no rhythm white fucks in front of the camera...whats up with that??

@tommieparch Ray was actually the true artist of Raydio...he served as the producer & writer, so I'd say that validates him as the star! :-)

It just seemed after the early 1970s music for the first time in my life became so damn boring and over commercialized.
Like 1974 to 1976 became the "Me Generation" and the "Yuppy Snob Generation" of the World Music Culture Norm.

Second half 1977 and early 1978 was the first time in 4 years I actually started taking music seriously again. Unfortunately Elvis died too.
