i agree that women can breastfeed anywhere except food courts and other food oriented facilities, simply beacuse it is not pleasant for the surrounding population to see a woman breastfeeding her child in the open and exposing a part of her personal body to the public, and it may ruin appetite as well as interpersonal and family related issues may occur. this is a similar reason why you don't watch medical operations during dinner.
breastfeeding is natural, if you don't like it don't watch. to the people who think mothers should do this in the bathroom, try eating YOUR lunch in the bathroom! grow up!
the H&M employee wouldn't let the breastfeeding woman sit on the table because NOBODY is allowed to sit on those tables, they're flimsy and not designed to hold people, and they probably didn't want a lawsuit when breastfeeding momzilla fell on her ass.
I think these women are missing the point and being inconsiderate. The issue people have isn't with whether or not the baby is eating; it's that not everyone wants to see a woman exposed like this in public. I'm a modest male and it's very uncomfortable for me to see a woman with her chest half-open like these protesters are doing. Maybe I'm being too selfish, but this is on a similar level to indecent exposure in my mind, and (rightfully) you don't see anyone defending that action.
@AstralDragoon You are a grown mad and are able to turn and not look if you see something offensive. If you see more boob than you prefer to see in public - be it from a nursing mother or a scantily clad woman, you are able to turn and not look. A baby is not mature enough to delay eating because it bothers you. So who should make the sacrifice? The man who is offeneded but is capable of looking away or the baby who doesn't understand why his mother won't nurse him when he's hungry?
I'm a grown adult woman and I'm not really sure how I feel about this... I mean I think that women should be allowed to breastfeed when they need to, but how hard is it to bring a blanket along so you aren't showing everyone, including creepy guys and little children your chest?!?! I wouldn't want the whole world to see my chest... I guess I'm just more modest than that.
Because you've got arms and legs with hands and feet on the ends of them, and we're holding the baby xx. Mine's an avocado and bacon roll, with a blackberry smoothie and a plate of spicy potato wedges. Lemon sorbet to follow, and make sure you use the Hepa filtered dyson. Thanks.

I have nothing against Public breastfeeding, seriously,it's not like its gonna change anything in your life, and you must be a pervert to get horny just because you see a woman breastfeeding her son....

being with my sister while she breastfed her daughter was helpful in changing my beliefs. she always had the attitude of "if it makes someone else uncomfortable then they have to get over it -- my baby's health is always more important" she's a great mom. so i guess i'll roll with it when i have a baby. i suppose nasty looks and comments from strangers mean nothing when you have your child's health and nutrition to worry about. same is true about my own hangups. baby's health comes first!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
actually, i never felt like a cow, nor even felt weird about it.
mostly i just felt proud, and motivated to feed myself properly, so that my little one was getting adequate nutrition.
oh, and not having to dole out all that extra money for formula was a big plus-- more money for other things, like baby clothes, toys, blankets, whatever.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
so true about the cost of formula. Did you know that the companies that manufacture formula used to go into third world countries with a few free samples (on the appearence that they were helping) and tell the new moms basically that formula is so much better than breast milk. And that they should only feed them their formula which of course they would have to buy once the freebies ran out! These poor families would spend their last dime on formula! Instead of buying food for the older kids!
It' s the healthiest thing you can do for your baby. As far as it being uncomfortable, well like everything else in life you will get used to it and then enjoy the bond you share with your child. good luck!
You could go to breastfeeding classes perhaps or visit a breastfeeding mother and baby group. After a while you realise women simply see it as normal facet of life, which it is. American women with false breasts and a sexualised culture that has obscured breast function to the degree that it is ok to use them to sell product in adverts but not nurture children is what is wierd.
If you don't think you should have to do that, then don't get upset when boys/guys stare and enjoy the show. If you do, then you are a freakin' hyprocrit. If a man exposes any part of himself in public (for any reason) he gets arrested, why shouldn't you. You are not as special as you think so get over it!!!

I personally do not have a problem with people looking at me when I breastfeed. It's a beautiful thing. Young women should look because it might inspire them to breastfeed their babies and men should look so they will be comfortable enough to support their wives in breastfeeding.
you are absolutly right about young women looking and becoming inspired. these clips solidify my beleifs about breastfeeding. I always thought it was the healthiest thing to do but i was unsure about being seen while nursing. these beautiful clips have disolved my anxieties and i look foward to breastfeeding when i have a child. it's so healthy, beautiful and serene. you never see toddlers so peaceful as when they are breastfeeding. Good for you and this video!!
men don't get arrested for showing their pecs. however, the laws that disallow women to do the exact same thing are in violation of the Constitution-- which says that all women and men should be treated equally.
besides, how would you feel if something the size of a watermelon came out of a hole in your body the size of a lemon, and then, in order to take care of that thing-- your child, you had to crawl off into the dark like you're doing something wrong? it's an idiotic law.

i wonder y your getting thumbs down??
if a mans penis could provide nutrition for a baby then it would be equal .. but it cant .. so its not .. i breastfeed in public and i love seeing people faces .. i do it wherever .. luckily here in Australia businesses can get up to a 50000 dollar fine for asking a woman to leave a public place because shes breastfeeding!! ...

Personally I think breastfeeding is barbaric and animalistic. This is just another example of women trying toi flex their female "muscle". There is nothing wrong with going into a private space and doing it out of sight.
Masturbating is a perfectly healthy and normal thing for teenage boys to do, just ask any psycologist, but do you want them to do that in public. While it may be considered "natural" in some cultures, it is NOT considered natural here for some gal to pull her breast out in a public place, feeding or not.
I have just about had it with this "I am woman hear me roar" BULLSHIT!!! Ok breastffeding may be natural but so is peeing. Do you want to see people doing that in public?? For those of you who say it is not the same thing, I say "yes it is".
I advocate oral sex. It's normal and very, very natural. I have seen it in Africa and just about every continent, except Arctic...shrinkage you know. I mean what is that member for anyway? I will take my son and his sister's Barbie so he can participate. This should take place in these women's neighborhoods. I will see you there. Take your own partner!
i don't get epople who have a problem with it child has to eat nothing worse then screaming babies in stores busses restaurants, people should get real.
yeah thats true, u get whores flashing theyre fake mis shaped 'tits' around, then everyone kicks up a stink when a woman breastfeeds in public...god dammit
There's nothing wrong with breat feeding a baby. This is what a woman's breast are made for and not the over blown silicone implanted boobs dancing topless at strip clubs. In the African and Latina society, it is very normal to see mothers breast feeding their babies in public without stares or harrasment from anybody.
so what-- do you suppose all nursing mothers should stay home for the entire duration of their breastfeeding? you know newborns have to nurse every two hours?
so, you're saying that even during the summer when men are running around with their tops off, that these women should have to stuff their newborns under their shirts or cover them with blankets?
you know nothing. crawl back into whatever internet tube you crawled out of. jerk.
I was brought up in Africa, and women just got on with feeding
whenever required- easy. I fed my own children upside down, back to front, sideways wherever and whenever they chose. USA is full of sexual images of breasts - and full of mothers who feel breastfeeding is somehow shameful. Grow up and worry about all the babies whose health is compromised by your inappropriately sexualised society. Even my sons breastfeed their teddies - no problem.
stop pushing the womens' rights bullshit. It is about decency.Men can't expose themselves in public for any reason and neither should women. We all don't think breastfeeding is as "sacred" a right as you do.
actually there are many more places where it is acceptable for men to go around topless than there are for woman to breastfeed. Men have nipples, too.
what are you, stupid? a woman feeding her child cannot in any way be equated with a man exposing his genitalia.
penises are for sex and urination. breasts are for feeding children. there's a big frigging difference.
the difference being mostly that if a man goes out in public alone, or with a child, wtf-- and whips out his penis, that's wrong. if a woman goes out in public with her child, and that child at some point needs to be fed, when she pulls out a breast, it isn't for something twisted.
I thought it was so cute when I saw my daughters breastfeeding their dolls. I'm proud to know that they will grow up to breastfeed their children and it will go on and on through the generations. It's funny, because the people have been known to live well into their nineties and we don't have many health problems in our family either. We are a family of breastfeeders.
My sons used to breastfeed their teddies, then once they realised that was something only mothers could do they stuffed them headfirst down my jumper. A queue of hungry soft toys. Any problem with that? Now they are older they're not particularly interested, I live in an area in UK where the vast majority of women breastfeed. it is also normal for men to be supportive, courteous, and discrete so they wouldn't appreciate another man scratching his genitalia in an attempt to humiliate. xx.
some babies won't take a bottle, so that's a great suggestion for those women who are more modest and their baby will go for it. Others are more comfortable with other ways.
So get a blanket and cover yourself!! duh! It's not that hard. Just include that in the multitude of other baby items you're carrrying around with you ANYWAY!
Why should a woman, engaged in a perfectly natural act, be forced to hide herself? The only logical reason would be because others in society can't be trusted not to gawk or be rude. How would you like to be shoved under a blanket on a hot day?
what the heck do you think breasts are for...the function and the whole reason that women have breast is to nurse. there is nothing vulgar or obscene in breast feeding a baby....
imo...noone wants to see a baby sucking the milk from a tit...while eating..like would you enjoy eating a hamgburger...then look to the left and see a big tit hanging out with a baby sucking on it?
I brest fed two of my babies, it is better for the babies and for the moms to brest feed. it helps the mothers body get back in shape faster. i wish i could have breast fed my other babies totally but i didnt have enough milk. I did cover my breast when i fed them and fed them where ever we were but with modesty always , the being held close to mom is good for mom and baby
Why are people using their reproductive opprotunities that are ment to be private moments with a child to prove a point in the middle of a a clothing store?
What is wrong about respecting eachother. I certainly don't want to sit 4 inches away from mommy dearest and chop chops breast feeding.
Women, you know that you are going to have to breast feed sooner or latter during the day. Its not always apprieate to take your baby everywhere you go. Please accomadate your baby better than this.
I am proud to breastfeed my baby in public. There aren't many places that have family rooms and I'm sure as hell not feeding my baby in the restroom. I have to sit in restaurants and see adults scarfing down their food. If someone doesn't want to see me breastfeeding my baby while in public, they don't have to look. Breastfeeding is in NO way to seek attention. It's for a purpose. Everyone was a baby at one point & was fed either by bottle or breast. Either way, I'm doing it where I want!
what really bothers me about it is not the nudity so much as the PDA... some of us were traumatized by bottle-feeding, breast withholding mothers, and seeing that just brings up a lot of emotional issues. do breastfeed your progeny, but please do it in private where it cant make me think about how i despised my mother.
That is completely ridiculous! There is nothing wrong with breastfeeding in public. I do my best to cover my baby, but she doesn't really like to be. I'm just waiting for the day that someone makes a comment about me breastfeeding my child in public. I'll be ready to let them have it. She has the right to eat in public just as you do. And as for the feeding the baby in the restroom, eat your food over the toilet and see how you like it!
I think this just highlights the real issue....that long ago, we uptight North Americans evolved a society based on conservative religious values that place shame on the female body. People find it offensive because that's what they were taught. It's just a matter of having a misguided set of values....and why is this such a big controversy while more endangering issues are not....like exposure to violent video games or the crap we see on TV everyday?
again the simplist solution to this is to use a blanket and there wouldnt be any of this drama. one less thing to worry about in this already full of drama place we live in.
Sounds like a great solution to me! Unless these women are closet exhibitionists (LOL!) they could always use a friggin' breast pump! Isn't what that those devices were made for? I think most of us are more than a little tired of hearing all the mommie's rights crap, aren't we??
I would rather go in to a dressing room to feed my child or put a blanket of them. I don't want someone to see me feeding my child. I want it to be something in between my child and I.
They r just trying to make a huge deal out of this. Where i live, u can smoke inside public buildings. But before that changed, there was smoking sections. Just go to the area for breastfeeding!!! It's not hard. If i pull my tit out to rearrange my bra, it;s considered public indecency. Even if i had no sexual intentions, which is what the law refers too. They seem like they r making a big deal out of nothing to me.
If there is a special room where you can breastfeed your baby, use it! I know its hard to get off of your lazy ass and walk a few steps, but do it. Next time i see a women breest feeding in a store i am going to piss on her baby!
attention seeking skank whores..nasty!! who wants to see that?? i knew a woman that bottle fed her baby UNTIL a man was around & she HAD to breastfeed!! yeeeahh riight..attention whores.
oh dear, someones feeling a bit bitter and grumpy today... are you feeling a little unloved? you certainly dont come across as a normal well balanced individual noney. best wishes
yes we live in a world of freedom, but this has nothing to do with that, they make special family rooms, with rockers in them now. USE THEM!! no wants to see our boobs.. and if your going to just whip them out in public your asking for trouble or looking for attention there are many ways of avoiding all this, like using a blanket!! THANK ABOUT IT!! get over it.
I agree with you. Since facilities are provided for these women, why not use them? Any time the Mommy Mafia complains/demonstrates, everyone is expected to bow down and worship them and cater to their every whim. Good God, the world does not revolve around children. No wonder they're so friggin' spoiled rotten these days!
ok, the next time you are in target, fred meyer, or some major dep. store, ask where the nursing room is. you will find that nursing rooms are an endangered species... please, educate yourself!!!
im sorry if your going to nurse in public at least put a blanket over! yes it is seen as sexual, look at the world we are living in, do you not see the changes? and if you pay attention back in the day mothers did not nurse in public they were more modis about these things.
lol in the same way that beauty is in the eye of the beholder... so is sexuality. ps I think most ppl would prefer to have me nurse my baby than let him scream in the queue.
true but my point was mainly to the red head, you can throw a blanket over to show a little respect, u dont have to be like her all "uhmm no i dont want the blanket" that was just attention seeking
Back in the day pregnant women were expected to stay home and not go out in public because their pregnant belly was considered obscene. Wasn't that ridiculous? Same with people expecting breastfeeding mothers to go and hide to feed their babies-ridiculous. Mammary glands people, its what makes us mammals, we feed our young milk. Get over yourselves. It's not a protest point, it's no exhibitionism, it's nature.
no one is listening to what i am saying. i am NOT trying to say its a bad thing to do. im not trying to say hide the babies. im saying cover up with a blanket. theres also these really cute covers you can get at any WIC it has an opening at the top you can see your baby and your baby can see you, yes they need the breastmilk for as long as you can give it to them but respect the people around you. its meant to be a bonding moment between mother and child not mother child and WORLD!! understand?
Okay for the person who said its legal for women to be topless.... yes thats true is ontario but it shoudlnt be as that is wrong.....
Breastfeeding in public on the otherhand really isnt the same thing is usually shows very little skin and is ok for childrens eyes.... where as some skank walking around topless to attract mens stares is not something people want children to see.
good point about being forced to see people eating at a food court, so why not let babies eat! right on! thank god for the left boobie and thank god for the right boobie. I breast fed both my children. The problem w/ our society is they see it as a sexual thing instead simply a baby nursing. If you don't want to see babies breastfeeding you can always turn your head!
It never ceases to amaze me that people are offended by 'natural' things. Its symptomatic of how far removed we humans have put ourselves from nature. We are just another species doing what comes naturally. I wonder how many of the same people who complain about breastfeeding in public insist we ban kids from visiting zoos cos they might see some naked animals? None. It also amazes me that this debate about breastfeeding is so rampant in the USA where more porn is produced than anywhere else.
i have a two year old son that i breastfed and i always did it in private. go to a bathroom or at least use a blanket. nobody wants to see that. why are you so adamant that people have to deal with seeing your ballooned up titties?
Okay I covered up when breast feeding as I covered up at the very least.... but the bathroom... thats disgusting why in the world would you feed in there.
Because people like Crazylikeafoz23, are just stupid. It takes me 20 minutes to feed my son. I nurse him in public and will do so no matter what. I do cover. If someone don't like me nursing then they can turn their damn head. I have a right to nurse where I choose. And until this country makes it illegal for women to walk around in nothing more than tape covering nipples and their cooches then I WILL NURSE. And if you are brave enough to say something to me then be prepared for a fight. GROW UP
I think its great that they had a protest.i personally think covering up is a little more appropriate but thats just me.besides if my babies hungry im going to give it food whenever wherever
You know. If theyre' going to show their breast to EVERYONE! I mean theres kids around there! lol Than I think its wrong. But I think if they are modest and cover themselves up a little more, there is no problem with it.
personally got no prob if u guys breastfeed in public rest of us watch ur freaking eyes damn not that hard think about your girlfriends and what theyd say if they caught u staring
To all those who think its ok to tell a mom to use a changing room or bath room to breastfeed. How would you like to eat YOUR dinner there?
I mean I never whipped it right out in public, but i am sure part of my breast was exposed while breatfeeding my kids. So what!? Its not a sexual thing and remember folks the breast it the natural way to feed, that is what breats are for! They were "invented" long before the bottle, so don't act all shocked when we want to feed our babies that way

Please, the baby has no idea if they are eating in a restroom or not. Babies are not aware about things that like...how many times have you seen a baby try to eat something that fell on the floor? Now we're going to start having "Babies' Rights" protests. If you have to feed your baby, cool, just dont do it out in public. EVERYWHERE has SOMEWHERE you can go and be out of the way. I'm a grown adult and AM AWARE, and I would prefer not to see your tit while I am eating at Red Lobster, thanks.
Ok so you wouldn't mind going into red lobster and taking your mean to the bathroom and eating it sitting on a toliet? Its the same concept. The parents paid to be there same as you.
Ok the baby might not have realized it was in a bathroom, but do you have any idea how unsanitary it would be to eat in there? Its gross.
Oh As for a baby eating something off the floor, that is when you parent tells them no, thats nasty and dirty and unhealty, just like eating while mommy sits on a toliet in a dirty bathroom.
No you probably dont want to see tit while eating but just because a mom is feeding a baby doesnt mean you have to either. don't look!
I never said it was ok that moms whip it out and plop a boob on the table, but you can breastfeed IN public without showing much skin at all (less than an inch!)
You don't want to see it then CLOSE YOUR EYES OR LEAVE... it is the legal right of a mother to breast feed a baby any where that a baby can be bottle fed.
When my child is hungry I will feed him anytime anyplace... I am discreet for my comfort not for yours. If you have a problem with a women feeding her child (and in most cases showing less skin than the average 16 year old girl in a tank top). Then get out of the restaurant... if not suck it up and SHUT UP!!!

So if you're on the expressway and your baby cries because he's hungry you stop right then and there to feed him? Unless you say no, you have TOTALLY proved my point :)
Yep If my child is hungry and I am on the expressway I do pull off and feed him in the car.
I am going to take a wild guess here... You weren't breast feed right? (studies show breast feed children have higher IQ's than bottle feed children).
Ultimately it doesn't matter what you or anyone else says. My right to nurse in public is protect by law. Love it or Hate it, I don't care! You have to deal with it!
Aww, someone's mommy didn't breastfeed them and now they're bitter about it. Us "breastfeeders" should be able to feed our babies whenever they're hungry wherever that may be. We're not talking about showing our boob for anyone else to see. No one has ever said anything to me in public, but when they do, they'll be in for an ear full. No one is asking to be catered to, just respect the fact that my child has to eat. Your fat ass eats, I'm sure!
Ok, well, maybe I don't want to see you dribbling melted butter down your chin, so I turn away. Do the same. And ps, if you can eat in public, so can my child.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well women should be able to breastfeed their babies anywhere they like, far as I know babies have needs, but they should also try to avoid public places for such things.
I guess if it were a sexual thing (and if someone thinks it's sexual then THEY should get counseling and probably not change their able to differentiate between child CARE and child ABUSE) it would make sense. But it's not. Breasts make milk for a reason. As a SOCIETY we should remember that. the more we have to hide, the more "naughty" it seems, the more inconvenient it becomes for US because someone ELSe can't control where they look...they aren't our primary sex parts. LOL.
Avoid public places for such things? Women have to shop. They have to do errands for their families. Unless you can afford to get your woman a full time nanny or housekeeper so that she never has to go out in public, you have no right to tell women not to go to public places with their child. Babies have to eat.
Ok. I can understand breastfeeding in public if the Boob is not exposed. I mean come on!! why would you want total strangers to see that? There are young children that have never been breastfed that sees that and can get the wrong Idea, not to mention there are tons of perverts out there, I just don't understand what the big deal is. As long as the Boob is not exposed.. to them it is a way of nurturing their kids, To sick demented freaks they probably get off on watching it.
What is so special about breastfeeding anyway? Researchers in France have discovered that human milk contains more pesticides and harmful contaminants absorbed from the environment and foods than pasteurized cow milk does. There is a book written about it called "Cradle to Cradle."
That's interesting and I'll definitely take out the book. I wonder, though, whether that only affects people who eat pesticide-ridden food, for example. And the cow milk (besides being a major allergy source) doesn't have antibodies, isn't free, uses up more environmental resources (raising cows, bottling it up, etc.). A lot to look at. Maybe the real problem is that our world itself is so contaminated.
Yes, the problem is that over our lifetime we have been exposed to so many pesticides that out body - whether we want it to or not - is full of contaminants. Naturally anything that comes out of it will be laced with toxic by-products. Toxins are stored in the fat reservoirs of women's bodies - breast being one of them. Women might want to reconsider what they put into their own body first before they feed their own child.
Absolutely consider what you put into your body. I still wonder whether the TOTAL negatives outweigh the TOTAL benefits. Good conversing with you, btw. :)
My baby seems to be thriving off of the boob. He's never sick, he isn't over weight like formula babies can be, he isn't destroying his future teeth with bottle rot and he seems to reach milestones early or on time. The breast are actually very good filters. I read once somewhere that it is actually better to breastfeed even if you smoke than to use formula.
for all the idiots out there saying that this is right, i have one question...if i had to take a piss really bad and there were no bathrooms anywhere around me, would ya'll be offended if i were to pop a squat right in front of u while u shop?? its something that is natural rite??? and everyone in this world pees riiiiight????? get my point now??

Exactly!!!
There seems to be a misconception out there that breastfeeding is the same as eating but it isn't!! When adults eat we do not put another persons body part in our mouth. We eat with a fork or spoon or our fingers. Breastfeeding is private and should be done behind closed doors. When the child is ready to join the world and eat like a person then it can be seen.
i totally agree with you...these women are just out seeking attention. And then they complain that people (men) stare at them when they are trying to feed a kid....well duh, they are popping out their tits in public!!!
No, they're women who don't want to feed their children in a filthy public bathroom, having to lug their purse, (heavy) diaper bag, and other belongings in the process. You can see more of a breast in a low cut top. Get OVER IT, people. It's not a sexual act.
Okay, then get your ass to work so I can afford to stay home without a job and have a personal shopper to do all my errands so I don't have to offend anyone in public by feeding my child. And don't you dare admire a woman in a low cut top. Breasts are disgusting, obscene, and should be kept private. You said it yourself.
The science is clear on this...breastfeeding is best!
IF a woman can get the education and support to actually breastfeed successfully she is told when, where, and how she should do it by 'corporate policy.' Chances are you wouldn't see any women 'hanging out' if you just let breastfeeding women alone.
They feel the need to prove a point when they are made to feel bad for doing something they know is best.
A baby has the right to eat anywhere, regardless of how it is fed!

I eat with a fork or a spoon. If your baby eats with a spoon, it's cool. If your baby wants to suck tit then I do not want to see that. That's not cool. It's just as bad as burping out loud in public. Babies do the same thing, slurp loudly, burp loudly, cry loudly. It;s an invasion of my personal space. Like I said earlier, it's not cool, it's not kosher!! Keep it under wraps, if I see you BFeeding, you get a nasty stare from me!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Generally I walk around listening to an iPod so I can drown out the screams and whining of kids with my music. By the way, a child can also eat with a bottle.
You can go ahead and do that for your child, but mine will eat when they are hungry. :) Food is a need, and I'm putting my kids' needs before you. Period.
And you would get a nasty stare BACK. What an ugly attitude. What do you think breasts were made for??? Not for flashing at Mardi Gras.. You see more cleavage at the beach than when I nurse my baby. So maybe you should give nasty stares to anyone who is wearing a revealing top, or write complaint letters to magazines who feature women showing cleavage. Get over yourself. Youre not the center of the universe, nobody should have to bow to your "personal space".. get up and walk away.

I don't approve of breasts flashing at Mardi Gras, or topless beaches. As for fashion magazines, I find fashion photography equivalent to art so that to me is beautiful. My personal space many times is invaded by screaming, whining, demanding infants and kids. I was on this planet first before these brats, so I won't be the one walking away.
You are a really ugly person, I hope you know. My child has the same human rights as you, regardless of who was alive first. In fact, my children will probably end up doing something important with their life due to their increased IQ due to MY breastmilk, and discover something to cure YOUR cancer. God made my breasts to nourish my babies, and that's what I intend to do no matter how the hell you feel about it. :D Have an awesome day.

Ha ha ha ha ha...angry much??? I love it when these breastfeeding Nazis get their nipples in all hard over their purported breastfeeding "rights" ha ha ha !!! God also made Eve from Adam's rib. And Eve was a sinful bitch for eating the forbidden fruit, so she was punished by God and forced to bleed every month!!! Read any good fables lately besides the Bible?
Breastfeeding is fantastic, as long as a woman is prudent enough to cover her exposed breast with a nursing shawl. I would know, i'm a woman and I can't stand to see other women's breasts just hanging out there...especially when their excuse is "I'm feeding my baby."
If you ask a stripper why she exposes her breasts, she usually has the same answer. "I'm feeding my children."
I'm a mom of a 14 month old boy & unfortunately was only able to breastfeed for 5 months after he was born.Prior to his birth,I was a very timid & shy woman & often worried about nursing in public because of the fear of exposing myself. However, when my baby was hungry,I could not care less where I was or who was around me, my first priority was to feed my child!!!
when I first started nursing I was so worried about offending people, but I hapend to get the baby that is the fidgity eater, he latches on and off and screams if I try to cover him. he also has latch issues so its hard to get him on properly so I need to see.. I end up showing some skin sometimes. I got to the point that if someone doesn't like it they can look away. get over it baby needs to eat. I cant give him a bottle cause we worked so hard on his latch I don't want to screw it up.
thats my problem!!! she always pulls the blanket off! and im very modest.... so i always cover up or go to a dressing room. its hard to nurse in public sometimes, when you feel like everyone else thinks its rude.
you know mom their is a hamoke things that you can use to feed in public. I had one that I gave away when I couldnt mommy feed my daughter. you can by them at baby r us or I think target has them also. my friend had one with all of her kids and she said it made it soo much easier cuz her sons kept pulling the caver off.
They sell nursing aprons. It covers you to about the waist. The top is open far enough for you to see her, kinda like looking down your own shirt and the material is breathable, so she'll be fine. These retail for about $10 us at babies r us
I get it though. When I was nursing I was breastfeeding on a couch in a Macy's ladies bathroom and a woman who worked there "suggested" that I might feel more comfortable nursing in a stall. Its ridiulous.
I agree people just need to grow up.Espically here on youtube everyone breastfeed so just shut up.You were a screaming baby hungry and ready to be fed so just grow up!
wow i mean yeah its cool to breast feed but come on. she said she wont shop at the store unless she gets to breast feed in it... she cant wait like 30 seconds and go to the changing room. wow. some people dont wanna see that. well i mean if shes hot yeah lol but unfortunately not everyone is

you know how to stop a breastfeeding protest just send a bunch of purvs to stare at them while there breasstfeeding then they will know ow other people feel when they walk by but thene again its just a boob but it will get moms to start useing light blankets right?
You know...I could care less either way if women want to breastfeed, it's your right IN BC - go ahead, but don't be shocked if you get pervs checking you out - just my 2 cents.
i agree that women can breastfeed anywhere except food courts and other food oriented facilities, simply beacuse it is not pleasant for the surrounding population to see a woman breastfeeding her child in the open and exposing a part of her personal body to the public, and it may ruin appetite as well as interpersonal and family related issues may occur. this is a similar reason why you don't watch medical operations during dinner.

breastfeeding is natural, if you don't like it don't watch. to the people who think mothers should do this in the bathroom, try eating YOUR lunch in the bathroom! grow up!

the H&M employee wouldn't let the breastfeeding woman sit on the table because NOBODY is allowed to sit on those tables, they're flimsy and not designed to hold people, and they probably didn't want a lawsuit when breastfeeding momzilla fell on her ass.
prideofshlimmer 2 years ago 3
I think these women are missing the point and being inconsiderate. The issue people have isn't with whether or not the baby is eating; it's that not everyone wants to see a woman exposed like this in public. I'm a modest male and it's very uncomfortable for me to see a woman with her chest half-open like these protesters are doing. Maybe I'm being too selfish, but this is on a similar level to indecent exposure in my mind, and (rightfully) you don't see anyone defending that action.
AstralDragoon 2 years ago 3
@AstralDragoon You are a grown mad and are able to turn and not look if you see something offensive. If you see more boob than you prefer to see in public - be it from a nursing mother or a scantily clad woman, you are able to turn and not look. A baby is not mature enough to delay eating because it bothers you. So who should make the sacrifice? The man who is offeneded but is capable of looking away or the baby who doesn't understand why his mother won't nurse him when he's hungry?
tambrabrock 1 year ago
I'm a grown adult woman and I'm not really sure how I feel about this... I mean I think that women should be allowed to breastfeed when they need to, but how hard is it to bring a blanket along so you aren't showing everyone, including creepy guys and little children your chest?!?! I wouldn't want the whole world to see my chest... I guess I'm just more modest than that.

breastfeeding is something intimate. like having sex, peeing and pooping. why don't they do that in public, too then, if it's that ok.

being with my sister while she breastfed her daughter was helpful in changing my beliefs. she always had the attitude of "if it makes someone else uncomfortable then they have to get over it -- my baby's health is always more important" she's a great mom. so i guess i'll roll with it when i have a baby. i suppose nasty looks and comments from strangers mean nothing when you have your child's health and nutrition to worry about. same is true about my own hangups. baby's health comes first!

actually, i never felt like a cow, nor even felt weird about it.
mostly i just felt proud, and motivated to feed myself properly, so that my little one was getting adequate nutrition.
oh, and not having to dole out all that extra money for formula was a big plus-- more money for other things, like baby clothes, toys, blankets, whatever.
hope that helps a bit.

so true about the cost of formula.

As far as it being uncomfortable, well like everything else in life you will get used to it and then enjoy the bond you share with your child. good luck!
ptc18 2 years ago
You could go to breastfeeding classes perhaps or visit a breastfeeding mother and baby group. After a while you realise women simply see it as normal facet of life, which it is. American women with false breasts and a sexualised culture that has obscured breast function to the degree that it is ok to use them to sell product in adverts but not nurture children is what is wierd.

I personally do not have a problem with people looking at me when I breastfeed. It's a beautiful thing. Young women should look because it might inspire them to breastfeed their babies and men should look so they will be comfortable enough to support their wives in breastfeeding.
jessimo1985 2 years ago
you are absolutly right about young women looking and becoming inspired. these clips solidify my beleifs about breastfeeding.

Masturbating is a perfectly healthy and normal thing for teenage boys to do, just ask any psycologist, but do you want them to do that in public. While it may be considered "natural" in some cultures, it is NOT considered natural here for some gal to pull her breast out in a public place, feeding or not.
phucu1125 2 years ago
I have just about had it with this "I am woman hear me roar" BULLSHIT!!! Ok breastffeding may be natural but so is peeing. Do you want to see people doing that in public?? For those of you who say it is not the same thing, I say "yes it is".

I advocate oral sex. It's normal and very, very natural. I have seen it in Africa and just about every continent, except Arctic...shrinkage you know. I mean what is that member for anyway? There's nothing wrong with breat feeding a baby. This is what a woman's breast are made for and not the over blown silicone implanted boobs dancing topless at strip clubs. so what-- do you suppose all nursing mothers should stay home for the entire duration of their breastfeeding? you know newborns have to nurse every two hours?
so, you're saying that even during the summer when men are running around with their tops off, that these women should have to stuff their newborns under their shirts or cover them with blankets?
you know nothing. crawl back into whatever internet tube you crawled out of.

Even my sons breastfeed their teddies - no problem.
sarahjeanful1 2 years ago 7

stop pushing the womens' rights bullshit. It is about decency.Men can't expose themselves in public for any reason and neither should women. We all don't think breastfeeding is as "sacred" a right as you do.
phucu1125 2 years ago
actually there are many more places where it is acceptable for men to go around topless than there are for woman to breastfeed. Men have nipples, too.
jessimo1985 2 years ago 3
what are you, stupid? a woman feeding her child cannot in any way be equated with a man exposing his genitalia.
penises are for sex and urination. breasts are for feeding children. there's a big frigging difference.
the difference being mostly that if a man goes out in public alone, or with a child, wtf-- and whips out his penis, that's wrong. if a woman goes out in public with her child, and that child at some point needs to be fed, when she pulls out a breast, it isn't for something twisted.
Soukougnan 2 years ago
I thought it was so cute when I saw my daughters breastfeeding their dolls. I'm proud to know that they will grow up to breastfeed their children and it will go on and on through the generations. It's funny, because the people have been known to live well into their nineties and we don't have many health problems in our family either. We are a family of breastfeeders.

My sons used to breastfeed their teddies, then once they realised that was something only mothers could do they stuffed them headfirst down my jumper. A queue of hungry soft toys. Any problem with that? Now they are older they're not particularly interested, I live in an area in UK where the vast majority of women breastfeed. it is also normal for men to be supportive, courteous, and discrete so they wouldn't appreciate another man scratching his genitalia in an attempt to humiliate. xx.

JELLYBEANZ1209 2 years ago 4
what really bothers me about it is not the nudity so much as the PDA... some of us were traumatized by bottle-feeding, breast withholding mothers, and seeing that just brings up a lot of emotional issues. do breastfeed your progeny, but please do it in private where it cant make me think about how i despised my mother.
adamndirtyshame 2 years ago
That is completely ridiculous! There is nothing wrong with breastfeeding in public. I do my best to cover my baby, but she doesn't really like to be. I'm just waiting for the day that someone makes a comment about me breastfeeding my child in public. I'll be ready to let them have it. She has the right to eat in public just as you do. And as for the feeding the baby in the restroom, eat your food over the toilet and see how you like it!
growbig1209 2 years ago 3
I think this just highlights the real issue....that long ago, we uptight North Americans evolved a society based on conservative religious values that place shame on the female body. People find it offensive because that's what they were taught. It's just a matter of having a misguided set of values....and why is this such a big controversy while more endangering issues are not....like exposure to violent video games or the crap we see on TV everyday?

Back in the day pregnant women were expected to stay home and not go out in public because their pregnant belly was considered obscene. Wasn't that ridiculous? It never ceases to amaze me that people are offended by 'natural' things. Its symptomatic of how far removed we humans have put ourselves from nature. We are just another species doing what comes naturally. I wonder how many of the same people who complain about breastfeeding in public insist we ban kids from visiting zoos cos they might see some naked animals? None. It also amazes me that this debate about breastfeeding is so rampant in the USA where more porn is produced than anywhere else.

I'm a grown adult and AM AWARE, and I would prefer not to see your tit while I am eating at Red Lobster, thanks.
crazylikeafox23 2 years ago
Ok so you wouldn't mind going into red lobster and taking your mean to the bathroom and eating it sitting on a toliet? Its the same concept. The parents paid to be there same as you.
Ok the baby might not have realized it was in a bathroom, but do you have any idea how unsanitary it would be to eat in there? Its gross.
Momoftwinsplus1 2 years ago 3
Oh As for a baby eating something off the floor, that is when you parent tells them no, thats nasty and dirty and unhealty, just like eating while mommy sits on a toliet in a dirty bathroom.
No you probably dont want to see tit while eating but just because a mom is feeding a baby doesnt mean you have to either. don't look!
I never said it was ok that moms whip it out and plop a boob on the table, but you can breastfeed IN public without showing much skin at all (less than an inch!)
Momoftwinsplus1 2 years ago 4
You don't want to see it then CLOSE YOUR EYES OR LEAVE... it is the legal right of a mother to breast feed a baby any where that a baby can be bottle fed.
When my child is hungry I will feed him anytime anyplace... I am discreet for my comfort not for yours. If you have a problem with a women feeding her child (and in most cases showing less skin than the average 16 year old girl in a tank top). Then get out of the restaurant... if not suck it up and SHUT UP!!!

So if you're on the expressway and your baby cries because he's hungry you stop right then and there to feed him? Unless you say no, you have TOTALLY proved my point :)
crazylikeafox23 2 years ago
Yep If my child is hungry and I am on the expressway I do pull off and feed him in the car.
I am going to take a wild guess here... You weren't breast feed right? (studies show breast feed children have higher IQ's than bottle feed children).
Ultimately it doesn't matter what you or anyone else says. My right to nurse in public is protect by law. Love it or Hate it, I don't care! You have to deal with it!
beth100706 2 years ago 3
only to a point..you breastfeeders think everyone caters to your fat asses..there are lines..dont cross it attention whore.
hunny1967 2 years ago
Aww, someone's mommy didn't breastfeed them and now they're bitter about it. Us "breastfeeders" should be able to feed our babies whenever they're hungry wherever that may be. We're not talking about showing our boob for anyone else to see. No one has ever said anything to me in public, but when they do, they'll be in for an ear full. No one is asking to be catered to, just respect the fact that my child has to eat. Your fat ass eats, I'm sure!
growbig1209 2 years ago
lol you know what, on long journeys I have known mothers sit in the back with baby, leanover... and feed him on the go!
TimmysMummy 2 years ago
Ok, well, maybe I don't want to see you dribbling melted butter down your chin, so I turn away. Do the same. And ps, if you can eat in public, so can my child.

Yes, but you don't eat from a tit, you dumbass.

no, but most people did. it's natural, you dumbass!!!

Well women should be able to breastfeed their babies anywhere they like, far as I know babies have needs, but they should also try to avoid public places for such things.
Skullmaniac 3 years ago
I guess if it were a sexual thing (and if someone thinks it's sexual then THEY should get counseling and probably not change their able to differentiate between child CARE and child ABUSE) it would make sense. But it's not. Breasts make milk for a reason. As a SOCIETY we should remember that. the more we have to hide, the more "naughty" it seems, the more inconvenient it becomes for US because someone ELSe can't control where they look...they aren't our primary sex parts. LOL.
plinerd 3 years ago
Avoid public places for such things? Women have to shop. They have to do errands for their families. Unless you can afford to get your woman a full time nanny or housekeeper so that she never has to go out in public, you have no right to tell women not to go to public places with their child. Babies have to eat.
galveston 3 years ago 4

There is a book written about it called "Cradle to Cradle."
nefeli1969 3 years ago
That's interesting and I'll definitely take out the book. I wonder, though, whether that only affects people who eat pesticide-ridden food, for example. And the cow milk (besides being a major allergy source) doesn't have antibodies, isn't free, uses up more environmental resources (raising cows, bottling it up, etc.). A lot to look at. Maybe the real problem is that our world itself is so contaminated.
plinerd 3 years ago
Yes, the problem is that over our lifetime we have been exposed to so many pesticides that out body - whether we want it to or not - is full of contaminants. Naturally anything that comes out of it will be laced with toxic by-products. Toxins are stored in the fat reservoirs of women's bodies - breast being one of them. Women might want to reconsider what they put into their own body first before they feed their own child.
nefeli1969 3 years ago
Absolutely consider what you put into your body. I still wonder whether the TOTAL negatives outweigh the TOTAL benefits. Good conversing with you, btw. :)

My baby seems to be thriving off of the boob. He's never sick, he isn't over weight like formula babies can be, he isn't destroying his future teeth with bottle rot and he seems to reach milestones early or on time. The breast are actually very good filters. I read once somewhere that it is actually better to breastfeed even if you smoke than to use formula.

No. A baby eating doesn't expose genitalia. Eating has nothing to do with bodily waste. It's not the same thing.
galveston 3 years ago 2
well....eating BECOMES bodily waste! LMFAO!!!!

Exactly!!!
There seems to be a misconception out there that breastfeeding is the same as eating but it isn't!! When adults eat we do not put another persons body part in our mouth. We eat with a fork or spoon or our fingers. Breastfeeding is private and should be done behind closed doors. When the child is ready to join the world and eat like a person then it can be seen.
nefeli1969 3 years ago
i totally agree with you...these women are just out seeking attention. And then they complain that people (men) stare at them when they are trying to feed a kid....well duh, they are popping out their tits in public!!!
70sMiLA 3 years ago
No, they're women who don't want to feed their children in a filthy public bathroom, having to lug their purse, (heavy) diaper bag, and other belongings in the process. You can see more of a breast in a low cut top. Get OVER IT, people. It's not a sexual act.

70sMiLA 3 years ago

Keep it under wraps, if I see you BFeeding, you get a nasty stare from me!
nefeli1969 3 years ago
Okay, then you don't get to complain when the baby screams in public because he's hungry. GET. OVER. IT. A child needs to eat.

Generally I walk around listening to an iPod so I can drown out the screams and whining of kids with my music. By the way, a child can also eat with a bottle.
nefeli1969 3 years ago
A child needs to wait for food and know that they wont get everything they want whenever they want.
Devilsnightforlife 3 years ago
You can go ahead and do that for your child, but mine will eat when they are hungry. :) Food is a need, and I'm putting my kids' needs before you. Period.

Yes of course that was just my opinion, i never told you to follow it.

70sMiLA 3 years ago

I was on this planet first before these brats, so I won't be the one walking away.
nefeli1969 3 years ago

"I'm feeding my children."
malicedmind 3 years ago
Then don't look. Strippers aren't feeding babies. It's different.

I'm a mom of a 14 month old boy & unfortunately was only able to breastfeed for 5 months after he was born.Prior to his birth,I was a very timid & shy woman & often worried about nursing in public because of the fear of exposing myself. However, when my baby was hungry,I could not care less where I was or who was around me, my first priority was to feed my child!!!
ddvv77 3 years ago 5
when I first started nursing I was so worried about offending people, but I hapend to get the baby that is the fidgity eater, he latches on and off and screams if I try to cover him. he also has latch issues so its hard to get him on properly so I need to see.. I end up showing some skin sometimes. I got to the point that if someone doesn't like it they can look away. get over it baby needs to eat. I cant give him a bottle cause we worked so hard on his latch I don't want to screw it up.
jfmom 3 years ago 5
thats my problem!!! she always pulls the blanket off! and im very modest.... so i always cover up or go to a dressing room. its hard to nurse in public sometimes, when you feel like everyone else thinks its rude.
lissa99a 2 years ago
you know mom their is a hamoke things that you can use to feed in public. I had one that I gave away when I couldnt mommy feed my daughter. you can by them at baby r us or I think target has them also. my friend had one with all of her kids and she said it made it soo much easier cuz her sons kept pulling the caver off.
rybreadsmommy 2 years ago
They sell nursing aprons. It covers you to about the waist. The top is open far enough for you to see her, kinda like looking down your own shirt and the material is breathable, so she'll be fine. These retail for about $10 us at babies r us
resarie85 2 years ago
I get it though. When I was nursing I was breastfeeding on a couch in a Macy's ladies bathroom and a woman who worked there "suggested" that I might feel more comfortable nursing in a stall. Its ridiulous.
