I was disappointed it was the six that killed Cain. Felt like an "out" for the writers, I wish it was one of the Pegasus crew or even one of Galacticas. I wanted a human to deliver justice and prove that Caine is what we are, even at our worst
I well sobbed my eyes out when they were finally reunited on galactica. when roslin see's Adama and she gasps....man, even thinking about it gets me teary eyed
She would have destroyed his ship along with the rest of the fleet, cannibalized their essential pieces and forced him, his crew and the rest of humanity (the useful ones, anyway) to make munitions at gunpoint.
This was the first episode I ever saw. This show's clear understanding of war, politics, and complex moral choices combined with its willingness to irreversibly commit to an evolving story hooked me instantly.
@A7XRules4life The network running the show ran a "Top Ten Things You Need to Know" to bring in new viewers for the final stretch, so I had some idea what was going on.
I only have the first season and first half of season 2 on DVD so that's all I've seen except for the last episode of season 3 and a good part of season 4.
@Orthiel I hope you get hold of the DVDs and watch the whole thing through now, the mutiny arc and beyond is enhanced tenfold by knowing who these characters are and all their histories.
For some reason, I really love how the percussion kicks in at 4:01...and the way Zarek and Gaeta's themes are woven throughout the piece is pretty frakkin' awesome.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
gaeta ok fireing sqaud he was a soldier that had ideas and acting for what eh thought was good but zarek the fireing sqauid was to godo fgor him the air lock whould have been better
In his view, he was staying true to his ideals instead of pandering to the Cylons like Adama. He felt that the fleet's leadership had betrayed every promise they had made - find Earth, escape the Cylons, so on.
Ah, but from Gaeta's point of view, he thought the old man had lost it. With Adama's best friend a Cylon, the president sharing his bed (and dying!), and his promise of Earth shattered, Adama seemed ripe for a breakdown. And, heck, he was.
Of course he was, but so was everyone. He was still the best qualified to lead the fleet. Whatever flawed internal justification Gaeta had for what he did, it was wrong and cost the lives of many innocents. It nearly splintered the fleet. As such I think that a firing squad was probably too good for him and Zarek. Especially Zarek.
The fleet was already splintered. The leadership didn't lay down the proper groundwork to have the colonists suddenly like this new Human-Cylon alliance.
Alliance? After they killed all but 35,000 of us? Frak that!
Gaeta just happened to be part of the fleet that was still in the dark. He still saw the Cylons as enemies (especially from his past with them), and made a decision to fix it.
Fair enough, but it was a bad situation and Gaeta made a worse choice. There are some things you can't paint in a moral light, no matter how hard you try. Even Gaeta saw this, eventually.
I love this episode! Go Adama/ Roslin! "No. Not now, not ever! Do you hear me? I will use every cannon! Every bomb, every bullet, every weapon I have down to my own eyeteeth to END you! I swear it! I AM COMING FOR ALL OF YOU!"
If you're talking about the cue at 1:49, that's called the Military Theme... at least according to Bear McCreary.
This is one of the very vew times that theme is featured on the soundtrack albums actually. The only other time before this is in "Battle on the Asteroid" on the season 1 soundtrack. It shows up a few times in the disc 2 of season 4.
I don't think it has a particular name. Most leitmotifs, or character themes, wouldn't. And if I'm remembering properly, Zarek's theme has never been on a BSG OST previous to this one. Yet it has definitely been in the show before (since I found it instantly recognizable as Zarek's).
Somewhere I read that the actor who played Lampkin was happily surprised his own character had a theme. Been a while since I've seen those episodes, so I can't personally verify that. Lots of stuff never made OST.
Zarek's theme was developed in the second half of the 4th season... I think initially heard in A Disquiet Follows My Soul. McCreary mentioned that he regretted never creating a theme for Zarek until that point, but I think he has one of the richest character themes to make up for it.
After The Oath And Blood On The Scales, the show went into a slowdown/wind down phase and never really recovered the intensity that these two episodes had.
Pegasus and the Resurrection Ship episodes were the best of Season 2. Scattered, Valley of Darkness and the Lay Down Your Burdens episodes were killer as well. Season 2 was the best.
@mrslovvet It's amazing how Gaeta became the catalyst for the best story line in Season 4, if not the whole series. The show did a great job of showing Gaeta's perspective of things and why he did what he did.
Thanks for uploading the Season 4 music. Been waiting for it to come out. Love the instruments being used. For some reason this music makes me think about music from martial arts movies like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Anyways I'm enjoying the music. Thanks again.
From 3:00 it just goes faster and faster!

Hmm, the very first couple of seconds sounds a lot like the theme from Caprica.

Felix Gaeta is still one the best characters on the show. Regardless of what transpired. I can sympathize with him. Shitty way to go..

Well, to be fair Baltar was rather culpable for Cain's death, since he let Gina loose.

Caine would have shot Zarek long before now, and she probably would have airlocked everyone involved in the mutiny too.

@MCulpa Be nice to Cain. She's not evil. Just fubar up in the head. And given everything that transpired, that's understandable.

@willthack13 Agreed. She was a complete whackjob, but if you look at everything she did, it made some kind of sense militarily and survivalistically.
