  • im getting a bluegill probably today im going fishing for it and i will feed him bread they love that stuff thats how i catch them with bread how many gallons is your tank im thinking of getting 2 and putting them in a 10 gallon tank

  • how long did it take before yours started eating i just got mine yesterday and im going to try and get him hungry so he'll take pellets

  • @pitbull0592 i got 6 baby bluegill with mosquito fish they didnt eat the first day so i let go of the mosquito fish so they can get comfortable the next day i tried tropical flakes but they pit it out so i tried somethik with shrimp or meal so i tried betta flakes cuz i have one and they eat it and also worms work

  • @77QRICARDO thanks but mines are adults about 4-6 inches long i got them to eat mosquito fish on the second day but cichlid pellets, no, flakes, no, worms , havent tried and im in a jam and dont know what to do

  • @pitbull0592 okay so how long have you have them and do u have other fish in there? if you have them for a couple of day and you have a cichlid in there most likely the are scared and really stressed or if u have a bigger fish then the bluegill remove them for about 2-3 day then return him to the tank or put the bigger fish in a bloating bag like the ones they give you with the fish at pet store or a big breeding net for a while for the bluegill to get comfortable

  • @77QRICARDO thanks hes the only one in the tank but after 4 days hes eating worms/minnows happily with a fat belly thanks alot though

  • feed it earthworms or mealworms but if your bluegill likes going to the top of the water than feed it crickets

  • You're going to need a bigger tank very soon obviously. Bluegill are extremely hardy. One of mine has officialy died TWICE and came back to life. He's in my tank now, his name is Jesus. And they eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, including fingers. Mine survives mostly on goldfish and nightcrawlers. But it is hard to get them to accept pellets. I've had mine for over a year and he still won't eat them. You need a tight lid too, they're jumpers.

  • If you just caught him DO NOT turn the lights on, give him some time to get used to the new habitat, Because if you don't he will try to jump out and hurt himself, I am having the same issue right now with mine, I just caught him yesterday and he is still getting used to the tank I put him in.

  • pgh dont get a crappie i had one they are so fuckking boring.. it starved himself to death i tried feeding him crickets worms feeder fish pellets he didnt like anything.. ;( now i got 6 bluegill 1 sunfish and a oscar.

  • advise bigger tank i have 2 blue gills in a 120 gallon tank

  • is it ok to have one in a 20 gallon?

  • @fahlkriss I have one in a 20g. But its temporary. I'm moving him to a 35 today. 20g is lowest you should ever go with even a small bluegill.

  • the sarcasm and lols are funny as shit.

  • i used to have a green sunfish... had it for 3 years then it died. i now have little bass and some bluegill in a 70 gal

  • real easy to take care of i have 2 in a 55 gal with koi an cats. just feed them lol they eat anything and just keep an eye on them some can be aggressive towards other fish luckily mine aint lol

  • i dont even know how to keep 1 alive from were ever you catch it from.icould use a portable oxygen pump & a bucket i guess

  • will a bluegill eat a beta?

  • you need a bigger tank at least a 30gallon

  • finally a real bluegill, everytime i click on a bluegill vid, it turns out to be a green sunfish.LOL

  • thats cruel

  • u have a vagina

  • i have a mangina

  • im sure hes kidding because 1 blugill byitself wouldnt have room to turn his self around in a 5 gallon tank. lmao. if its true that is cruel:/

  • natural gravel color PLEASE

  • do you think if i put a bluegill in with my green terror and oscar would they fight?

  • Green Terror will attack bluegill when you put it in tank, but later, if bluegill survive, they will not fight often.

  • if its not a huge green terror and its a decent size bluegill they won't fight

  • awesome! you should a bass that would be cool

  • bigger tank like a 55 gallon

  • BIGGER TANK OK!!!

  • i have a bluegill and warmouth bass and goldfish in a 5 gallon tank haha its crowded

  • WOW nice bluegill

  • nice bluegill! how many gallons is that tank?

  • feed him his veggies every once n a while

  • I had Bluegills (2) and 3 small Brown Bullheads in a 55 gal tank and were doing very well. The male began beating up the female, so I put him in his own 20 gal tank. Feeding them flake food, frozen blodworms, earthworms, small minnows, and small goldfish.

Their colors are quite brilliant during breeding season and they will eat worms from my hand. Keep the water exceptionally clean by frequent 20% water changes and more filtration than tropicals. Don't overfeed!

    Hope this info helps out.

  • cheap fish

    guy showing a sunfish WTF?!

  • lol if that bluegill gets hungry that small fish is in deep s**t. im thinking about having a crappie, it is more like a bass.

  • i got a rock bass and it smashes the minnows i put in, the bluegill makes friends with minnows

  • lol my blue gill donsent

  • is that 10 gal? looks kinda small no offense

  • well if you wach my other vids he is in a 55 gallon now

  • @luffyguy hey nice bluegill in my backyard there are bass and bluegils alls we have to do if we want ot catch one is put a worm on a hook and cast

  • would jack dempseys rough up on a bluegill if i put one in my tank

  • it depends on how big the jacks are and how big the bluegill you put in isif the bluegill is larger then the jacks you should be fine, but my bluegill even tried to take on an oscar he got some scales off the oscar, so they can be aggesive if they want to

  • i eat bluegill lol

  • that pet minnow might get eaten i had a bluegill the samesize as yours and i fed it minnows

  • the minnow did get eaten, and the bluegill is in a big tank with other fish now

  • dude how do u keep them out of the corners and get them to eat.mine wouldn`t eat so i released it in my pond.Any help?

  • did the fish seem too big for the tank? i've heard some wild caught fish stress themselves to death in captivity and thats the symtoms (not eating, staying in corners, banging into glass, sluggish movement)

  • (\_/)

    (+ +)

    (")_(")

  • would a bluegill do good in the same tank as a pleco?

  • yea, they wont bother eachother

  • thanks

  • ill take ur advice

  • i got the bluegill in a tank with a pleco, two oscars, and some african cichlids, he is bigger then all of them and dont bother them at all

  • omg i just love the way he has praticly nothing in his tank SO CUTE<3 make more plZ!!

  • EGAD!!! I just noticed the fruity pebbles in the bottom of the tank. BLASPHEMY!!! Allow the fish some dignity. Get native rocks, gravel, and plants. Enjoy.

  • As a staple, I fed mine earthworms and raw, shelled frozen shrimp that I got from the grocery store. Whenever I went fishing I would catch small frogs and baitfish to feed to him. He even got a small lizard once. Steer clear of mice and such. Anything with fat is bad for them. I've been told that beef liver is ok though. Bluegills are great. Try decorating the tank with some rocks and native plants.

  • You are gonna need a bigger tank for a fish that size. Since you posted this video over a month ago, I'm sure that the fish has acclimated to the tank and ate the smaller fish. If you have never kept a bluegill as a pet, you are in for a treat. I've had a few bluegills. They can be vicious. You need a REALLY good filtration system. Splurge on an external canister system rated for at least twice the tanks size. These fish make a lot of waste.

  • that was just his 1st home tank, he is now in a 20 gal. tank with an albino frog, and i yes he ate the minnow he was sposed to lol, i got some big rocks and shells in his new tank, he dont like plants he tears them up lol, and i got a filter for a 30 to 60 gal tank , and he eats shrimp, worms, and minnows
