What many people don't know is that this song was originally meant for a male artist. When it's sung by a man, it feels much more sinister. Given how warped and twisted the relationships in this anime are, I think it's entirely appropriate. Far as I can see, the roses are the only comic touch.

People got annoyed about this because they didn't think it was dramatic enough? Sure, it's definitely got some comedy in there, but it's pretty dramatic at the same time. (The fact that it's a pretty accurate portrayal of the relationships in Utena--that is, utterly warped--just helps the drama.)

comedy or not, this amv is one of the best out there. it certainly deserved an award, i mean come on, some people just do not even fucking bother to get off the subtitles or to cut scenes. they just put huge whole clips, and think they do a good amv and start whining when the actual good amvs win. i mean, hello, takes some work and effort to win something.

kudos to you pal, that video was one of the first amvs i watched years ago, and it is certainly a memorable to these days still.

I just noticed Saionji and Anthy have vice versa hair and eye color. Saionji's eyes are purple like Anthy's hair while hers are green like Saionji's hair. Touga is also the red/ darker blue to Utena's pink/lighter blue. Utena is like the lighter hair and eye color of Touga. Aside from having just now picked up on that, the video is hilariously brilliant and well put together. It deserved the win, regardless of category.
