Man, these Night Trains that Vox released in this recent series of amps... they are just AMAZING! Pure but still powerful and fat tone! What do you need more?
SHIELD your guitar, NO buzz. Star ground, full shielding paint n tape, even a Strat will be quiet as a Les Paul. Adding the Shielding to a Les Paul with make it near silent, even loud with high gain. Off course it means the manufacturer has to spend another $1, which somehow turns into a $100 for the consumer. Oh, and why can't gtr makers quit using disc caps, and put at least Orange Drops in? HUGE difference in tone, only cost them pennies more.
Hi everyone, have a quick one for everybody! Is it possible that my vox NT has a little less volume than my Pathfinder 15r? I got my NT checked last week by service, change valves and everything seems to be ok...any clue?

An amp demo usually contains an actual demo of the amp...not some bumbling pr guy yapping the whole time. You don't sell amps or intruments by talking....you sell them by playing them.
I call bad pr. I hope Neal didn't shell out a fortune for your self agrandizing dialogue.
@jakerowguitar I use it with a fulltone ocd and i think its amazing, I dont know what everywire is taling about. maybe it only works with select pedals, try a bunch and see what you think, naturally i recommend ocd with it, but try others.
fyi .... switching something from pentode to triode is not cutting the number of power tubes in half.... a triode tube has an anode grid and cathode... pentode is the same, just with more than one grid.... when u flick that switch you have the same number of tubes running you are just running the pentodes as if they were triodes... you have just as much running you are just using it differently
i want one of these but i have a fender frontman 15w amp would i have to get a cab or can i run through my amp... i want the vox tone but i dont want to have to buy a cab
it could be a 16 ohm cab OR an 8 ohm cab OR 2 x 16 ohm cabs together = 8 ohms. even weirder: depending on how the cab is wired, 4 x 16 ohm speakers could equal 4, 16 or 64 ohms and 4 x 8 ohm speakers could equal 2, 8 or 32 ohms... headache.
im not very knowledgeable about amps and how they work just how to play them. and this would be my first half stack type amp. i have very little money so i just dont want to mess it up once i do get it. lol
any all tube amp is good for everything you can put all the effects you want like treble booster etch if you need more feedback but it puts out a good amount of gain. generally, low wattage amps give you the flexibility to open them full volume, and control the feedback from your guitar which gives you a great tonal range.
although it matters how you connect ( serial or parallel) the drivers ( each speakers in a cabinet if ther is more than 1) I can simply explain it as being exactly the opposite of;
you have a basket ( in this case an amp)
and it takes a maximum of 16 apples( speakers) . you can put 1, 2, 3 or 10 , it will house them. Ohm is exactly opposite. if amp is 4 ohms you can plug 1 4 ohm speaker or 2 8 ohm speakers or 4 16 ohm speakers is the logic. 2x 16 ohm speakers = 8 ohms impedance.
I have a spring chicken and TC nova delay and it works great. Past 12 o clock on the spring chicken it rattles a bit. Maybe the cheap wharfedale cab though.
Anyone who knows, please PM me. I understand you can flip between 7.5/15 watts, and the thick/bright switch. But whats the big difference between this & the AC15? I played this and it sounds really good, but for $500, I can get the AC15 for $600, it has a speaker, reverb, tremelo, and I get switch on the effects...I mean any opinions as why this is better, or the similiar price?
I'd get the ac15... they have different circuits but i like the ac15 better i'd get that... and hey if you don't like it just send it back and get the nightrain
Yeah, it's a 15w el84 amp what in hell is all this talk about?! Does every demo have to be constricted by the idea that somehow the the auidence whom have just done the search on youtube for a particular product have just jumped out of the womb. Just put a decent mic on that crap ass camcorder and show us how the dang thing sounds, please!!!!!
you talk too much ... better yet don't talk... play your guitar thru the amp

Hey Alan, how loud is this amp? Does it work fine with overdrive/dist pedals?
jakerowguitar 1 year ago
@jakerowguitar its really loud and has a great presence. I think overdrive pedals ruin the pure tone on a great amp like this. just say'n

just don't use a 4 ohm cab

so if i was to get a 4x 12 cab it would have to have 16 ohms on each speaker?

@workman1990
The total Ohmage of all the speakers has to equal to 16. So each speaker would have to be 4 Ohms.
lanceribsmith 9 months ago
@lanceribsmith No. 16 ohm speakers wired for 16 ohms.

whats the difference between 8ohms and 16?
ToneMatters 2 years ago
the difference is exactly 8 ohms.

what i wanted to know is, are 16ohms louder than 8? better quality? etc

oh, so you can only plug 1 x 16ohm in this?

this amp supports 8 ohm as well so you can plug 2x16 ohm cabs as well

oh ok, mm i got a Voxac4tv so i can only plug 1x16 right?

you can plug a 16ohm cab like VOX V412BN
