  • she writes her own songs fair play

  • " say hi monte "

    like a dog

    rofl

  • this doesnt top 1994

  • @oxfordamerican81 just to let you know a lot of artists. including gaga do not write their own stuff, most of them pay for writing credits. i know because i am a songwriter. Madonna got co-writing credits because she composed the music, but did not write the lyrics.

  • @hhtwbps most artists of today do not use instruments to compose their music it's all computer and electronic based, nobody needs to know how to play an instrument to compose the melody of a song. she did co-write the music with mirwais, EVERY pop artist who receives co writting credits for writing the music to their songs has help from their producers .that's what producers are for. i know the songwriting process, it's what i do for a living, thank you! Wikipedia is NOT a valid source,

  • i have that damned sex book of hers, all im gonna say is that don't buy it! get a good porno instead if you wanna whack off. haha

  • lmao. she is concentrating so hard on her cords.

  • Sorry but anyone with singing lessons can sing to that level, she's is so average and if you take away that other guy, her guitar playing is totally average too

  • @ElvisLivesUpstairs She was never famous for having the best vocals or guitar playing. She writes good music and evolves and always has something interesting to say. She's her own creation and broke down a lot of boundaries in the music industry that if you didn't live through, you probably don't get.

  • -Huh? ok

    -Daaaave...

Probably the best moment ever on Letterman

  • Gaga would makes Madonna cry and kicks her ass with her piano plays, just saying

  • @xxbonex Ok u do know if Madonna never existed there would be no lady ga ga, just saying

  • i would love to see her do an Unplugged album of her classics, or an album of new material with this type of sound.

  • i never realised how beautiful her voice is and she looks so radiant after her time away having children here ... beautiful performance ... she should have done more acoustic stuff for sure in her career x)

  • @TheMusicismylife9210

I suppose, "Ray of Light" was fantastic, I just didn't connect with it as much as "Music." I feel like that album was her at the height of her art, it was mainstream and underground, escapist and topical all at once. It was really edgy and still sounds relevant a decade later. Though I guess you could say the same things about "Ray of Light" ...

  • beautiful

  • this was the best letterman-madonna interview

  • i love her voice so much. it just sounds amazing! <33

  • wow she is amazing singing here

  • playback

  • @prifterpan you must be deaf or simply idiot

  • @irtala no microphone you GENIUS . Even if she has one that we cant see you can see her lips saying "THANK YOU" on 6:45 but you don't hear her saying it.

Is you IQ over 82 ?

  • @prifterpan the microphone is the one she has to talk.. and you can't hear the "thank you" because of the clappings. It's live and everybody can hear it but you.

  • @irtala i am not gonna waste my time on you your IQ is obviously below 82

  • @prifterpan Ok ;)

  • @prifterpan I cannot stand playback and know from working sound at a midsized venue for pretty big gigs when and how it happens. There's no way she's lipping to herself on playback on this track. They have her on two frequencies mixed separately one for the interview and one for singing. They switch from one to the other. It's important to be skeptical, unless it's skepticism that prevents us from knowing what's really going on.

  • Why don't they make them like that anymore???

  • MONTEEEEEEE

  • Music is by far the best album of her career.

  • Sooo who wants to bet a thousand dollars... she was banging the shit out of this Monte dude?

  • She has aged very well, she is sooo beautiful!

  • I love this.

  • This is a WONDERFUL accapella performance.

  • @katinaanimator I agree that it was nice, but that wasn't acapella.

  • Thank you Madonna! Come visit some time ...

  • Monte Pittman FTW!!!

  • I don't know why everyone asks that stupid question about her accent. She's spoken like that since she first started in 1983, I would say that's actually her original accent. She had that accent in Madonna Raw, Who's that girl tour, Bedtime stories pajama party...her accent usually goes to other accents but reverts to this one.

  • why do people keep bagging her about her accent or "accent"???? what difference does it make huh? shes talking alright!! and who cares how she talks!!! geesh

  • Yes Linus she can also play the guitar

    Certainly better than you

It's all said in light and humour : - ))

    F

  • david u just touched my unmentionables!!!! wat kind of sick accent is that....brit i suppose!!!!

  • @dannykaye85 you "suppose" wrong

  • i just love madonna....she has a great personality...and a good sense of humor......and is very talented!love u madonna<3

  • queen m is so funny. refreshing for a popicongodess to be cool. lol

  • Theres no way they dont have something going on behind the curtains. Horse rides, pizza , flirting in every interview lol.

  • how great it would be if she was a country singer..

  • "oh shit. oops i swore" lmfaoooo i love herrr

  • I love her. I love seeing her vulnerable. And bish is lying! She learned guitar the hard way, learning yourself back in the late 70's

  • FANTASTICA!

  • Excelente me gusta esta presentacion !!!

  • Great song!

  • i lover her clouths

  • @7madonna7 lol you suck

  • @phatass67 becuase of her clouths!!!! they hot

  • @7madonna7 No I meant because you spelled clothes wrong. Doesn't your browser have spell check, like a red line appears underneath when you have words suck as 'clouths'? Anyhoo...grammer nazi, out.

  • @phatass67 honey, not evryone speaks the english languege perfect. I wanna see you come in my country and speak on german

  • @phatass67 clothes

  • @7madonna7 Well then, for english as a second language, not too shabby. Well I've wasted enough time on this.

ps - I love Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera is a run dry fad

  • I love you Madonna. Great sarcasm, great manner, and wonderful talent.

  • I've always love Don't tell me. It's one of my favorite songs and this version was great!!!

  • Can't deny that Madonna has great personality......!

  • Nice guitar. It's got a lovely crisp sound. Anyone know the make?

  • I love how I know and like so many songs by her, but didn't know it was actually by her. And that I'm always judging her.

She's obviouslly good - no one can argue that - or she wouldn't have been famous for as long as she has.

People just love to hate her.

  • She niled that performance!!! I loved how she sang Don't Tell Me!!!

  • She definitely matured a bit in those 6 years. Did she write this song?

  • @JL130787 yepp, she did

  • the 1994 interview is a must watch.

  • she sings the song very well.

i admire her ... she is inspiring. it is like...she went out and did her thing and gave up all protection. She puts herself out there and people may judge her if they wish, but as she says, that's okay because it's 'their own karma'.

  • 1994 interview was the best. She was on fire with Dave.

  • Letterman also keeps his young girlfriends in the vault....

  • She is so sexy, I love her voice

  • @fierygargoyle Looks way too much like my mom to say anything like sexy about her. I'd feel dirty.

  • oh my god as I love you..

  • Wonder if Letterman tried to seduce her... ;0)

  • fascinating

  • That's why Jacko and Madonna reign supreme. Both were underrated songwriters..

  • don't call him jacko thats like stupid tabloid trash

  • i think she sings that good, because of concentrating on playing guitar and not to sound or look good

  • sTFU... she's always good

  • how can i get this version of this song?

  • Love her voice! Legend.

  • thing is that she has been keeping it fresh for years 25 years, and that says a lot for someone because there are few artists that can have managed to stay current over 3 decades let alone 1

  • wow so nice big love to Madonna

  • the best rendition of don't tell me!

  • That was really raw and she sounded so good

  • I've never heard her sound as angelic and innocent as she does here.

  • Beautiful! I smiled through the whole thing.

  • i think she is reeli talented....although ppl always give her crap....i mean she's almost 50...she's incredibly fit...she's starting to write her songs...she's an incredible performer....

  • Starting to write her songs? She's always written her own songs. Lucky Star, Live to Tell, Like a Prayer, Into the Groove, Everybody, Burning Up, Angel -- all penned by Madonna.

  • great interview, she's lovely

  • i guess yes

  • was this planned?

  • don't tell me sounds really cool.

Madonna is the queen. I love her so much.

    <3

  • my bad i should have said "she was saying what she was thinking" just to clear that up....

  • Wow Madonna's a great performer and she's not too bad on the guitar. Love her in this interview she's so funny and cute. I love how in the end she nervously shakes her legs and gives a little bow its so adorable. Wish i could have been there those people were so lucky and I wouldn't say that Madonna was acting fake you could tell she was talking what she was thinking throughout the interview

  • dont tell me has always been one of my fave madonna songs! love you girl!

  • I wish she still sounded this good now

  • she sounds really good here!

  • Just because I never met her doesnt mean I have to like her. If she's disgusting at interviews then I am quite free to have an opinion about the way she deals with anything that confronts her. Madonna doesnt even realise that they pick on her because they like her. She's just a sensitive little woman.

  • Roger, you are just too old. You know nothing about the intricacies of debate between madonna and letterman. I suggest you educate yourself before passing judgments on anyone else.

  • LOL. intricacies my ass.

  • I wasnt attacking her in anyway. I have always defended her against the people who didnt like her voice or her songs, but I dont defend celebs who treat people like crap. She will take what she gets.

  • maybe cause hes a fan of david letterman idiot

  • "stupid cunt, if you're rip on someone for their grammar...."

Aren't there a couple of words missing there? Specifically, between "you're" and "rip"? Let me help; "...if you're GOING TO rip on..."

So, I guess the obvious question here is, did YOU omit the words for comedic irony, or are we giving you too much credit here? No, I don't think so. You're a stupid cunt, too. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAA.

    Owned, bitch!

    Thanksandhaveaniceday. :)

  • goes to show ya women get better with age also

  • I actually like her alot here...

  • She is amazing!!!

  • Unmentionables... that could be anywhere on her body.

  • One of my favorite songs from Madonna.

  • She really knows how to get the audience involved.. even with her little jokes while still sitting next to David Letterman... of the interviews I've seen... I really like this time in her life.

  • i think that they were in love.......

  • That's one one of the best live performances of "Don't Tell me". Her voice sounds perfect, much better than it does when she sings and dances at the the same time. I fucking luv this song! And, man, does this slow, sweet version rock!!!! She should've performed this version of the song on one of her tours... It's a pity this performance is not available for download. Luv U, Madonna. You're the best.

  • that was so cute, such an honest performance

  • i think people who normally dont listen to her music should watch this because it shows her sense of humor and her voice and guitar playing

  • i dont listen to her music normally, but ill hand it to her that she is an exceptional talent, and damn funny

  • she's just the greatest ever. .

  • monty looks stoned as hell

  • Anyone who dares critizes her, I dare they play the guitar and sing this song that SHE WROTE and sing it as gracefully as she did! POST a RESPONSE and do it better! Cause Madonna is the Queen! And this video is from 2001, Long before than most YOUTUBERS! FUCKERS!

  • Actually, Joe Henry, Madonna's brother-in-law, wrote "Don't Tell Me".

  • no joe henry wrote stop then madonna rewrote it to make it don't tell me

  • both wrote it

  • both who? Madonna changed it a little but this was her brother-in-law's song for his own musical project, then Madonna took it. Actually the guy did release his version if Im not mistaken.

  • Actually, Joe Henry, Madonna's brother-in-law, wrote "Don't Tell Me".

  • Actually, Joe Henry, Madonna's brother-in-law, wrote "Don't Tell Me". This appearance is from November 2000, not 2001 ;)

  • Actually, it's from late 2000 during the promotion for the "Music" album.

  • What was from the late 2000's?

  • This Letterman appearance. This was filmed and aired November 3, 2000.

  • I actually hate this song....but I love this acoustic-ish version of it! bella!

  • Her voice is still incredible, and she's still smoking hot.. to this day....

  • The dude playing the guitar is one of the guys from the Daily Show!

  • Madonna was nervous, but you have to love her sense of humor, and she loves to give Dave a hard time, you can tell he loves it too.

Madonna had just given birth to her son Rocco not too long before this performance, she looked and sounded amazing!

  • you could see she was really nervous, she kept rubbing her hands....

  • as well as being nervous she was cold - apparently it's freezing in the Letterman studio

  • Wow, I love this version/performance. Don't Tell Me is an amazing song.

  • hahaha, whoops I swore!

  • she did a good job. Too bad we didn't get more of this madonna over the years.

  • Her ballades are just great! She should sing them more often;)

  • Her ballads are great...in addition to singing them more often, she should write some new ones too!

  • Yup, Take a Bow, Crazy for You, You'll See, This Used to Be My Playground, Oh Father, Miles Away, Live To Tell are great!!!!

  • Crazy for You...a classic that transcends 80's music-she could have put out that song now and it would have worked!

  • there is so much sexual tension between madonna and letterman. I wish they'd bury the hatchet by just getting married once and for all. Then again, that might kill the beauty of their relationship. Those two have had such an interesting dynamic.

  • Damn, Madonna's guitar teacher is hot. And I love this performance. Don't Tell Me is one of my all-time favorite Madonna songs.

  • since when did madonna start calling her undies 'unmentionables'

  • Since when she became British. LOL

  • Hahahaha!

  • lovely

  • excellent, i love you madonna

  • yes.. thank u!

  • thanks soo much for putting this up!

  • Luv this interview, its all just a bit silly which is great!!! Thanks for putting on, i never seen it before.

  • When she starts singing this it brings a tear to my eye.... bah!
