We realize that the proper term is Inuit rather than Eskimo. However, this video is aimed at worldwide audiences and most people do not know the term Inuit. The Inuit's counterparts in Alaska still use the term eskimo. We use eskimo just so many people around the world will find this video. Then our website disclaimer educates them on the Inuit term. If we use just Inuit, this culture will have a very limited audience. This is our final position on this issue. Clint, Free Spirit Gallery
sorry fakeadam, it is not one who sing and the other who immitate !!
they all sing a different melody or at least not on the same time, depending of the song and those melodyies are joining to guether to give you the impression you had. Anyway, I would like to know where and when this video was taken. Those ladies are from Puvirnituk, northern Québec.
In most of Arctic Canada, you are right that the proper term is Inuit but in other northern regions including Alaska, the term Eskimo is still used, even by many of the northern people there. Most of the non-Arctic world still haven't heard of the term Inuit.
this is the coolest music i hav ever herd!

I thought that Inuit is a subgroup of Eskimo. (so it's like calling someone from Belgium, European instead of Belgian).

Super neat. I would like a longer recording though.

It's a game.
One person makes a sound, the other has to immitate it, usually getting faster and faster. First to make a mistake or crack up laughing, loses.
Staves off boredom up in the frozen north, and would be kinda fun too.
