If the experience was solely telepathic, and she went nowhere and just dropped straight through, then the video device would have recorded only the couple of seconds it took to fall through. The only thing i can think of that makes sense is that she traveled in time and space. The aliens who made that happend dropped her back in the same time that she left when they were done talking. That way it seemed that it never happend, the recording device is the only proof.

She has no gravitational field near her so according to general relativity, time is flowing superfast to her. If you did receive a visual, human perception in general would only limit you to a small degree of another species perception which in this case is beyond our 3 dimensional 180 degree visual of everything. I believe that the reason that everything wobbles when she touches the sky is because that she is inside a special isolation skin protecting the planet from her human contact and/or germs etc..

That`s the thought I had anyway that the director was doing for this part of the movie.
