  • I think the weakness of her personality, face, and voice are all contributing to the flexibility of her character.

  • she has a straiht face through the whole thing, its emotionless.

  • Less is more to all you haters out there towards her acting.

  • :3 she sounds like shes ten :D

  • Believe me, Gloria was the perfect Ado. She took this song all the way to the bank. Brilliant!

  • des her face ever move!?!?!?!?!?

  • she is sooooo boring!

  • @rockyhorrorshowgirl I bet they told her to be boring because 1) sex is a touchy subject for Americans (even today, LOL), 2) they didn't want her to outshine their new star, Shirley Jones.

  • Thumbs up if you searched for this after watching Griffith's outtakes on Berserk.

  • no expression why is she singing like that

  • oh deaar-- she reaaalllyy isnt how i pictured her characteer :s

  • WTF? How the hell does she NOT realize it sounds like she's singing with botox??? No offense to her, but this is just.....it's painful to watch...

She has no emotion or change in her voice....its awkward.....its not acting....

  • @Lightissmexychic what a sad deformed response.

  • spit in his eye!!!!

  • london one is ok.. but this ado annie so much better, i hate the acting of the ado annine in london revival

  • Its her stichk. ITs like the first time you watch "I love Lucy" and are like what the hell why is she acting and talking like that. She does a great job btw. Thumbs up!

  • i used to sing this in the grocery store when i was 6. i had no idea...

  • She reminds me of forrest gump.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG... EXACTLY THE KIND OF GIRL I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL.

  • i just saw oklahoma at liberty univerisity, and the girl playing ado annie was much cuter :)

  • @Jojo13Lorin Ohmygosh! I just saw it at LU yesterday! I totally agree with you. She was adorable!

  • I was Ado Annie in my show last year. I'm not entirely musically gifted either, but my interpretation of her character was way more vibrant and happy-go-lucky...please go onto my channel and check some of my scenes out, i would love some feedback on the videos!

  • Omg this is the original movie! She is supposed to Sing that like! It is called good acting like you can't sing!

  • Ado Annie is not supposed to be the most musically gifted person. She portrayed the character quite well actually.

  • While she is singing her acting is terrible... but how come she can act perfectly fine in the scene right after the song?

  • she cant act or sing...why is she in a musical then? :/

  • @Lobxx1 Gloria Grahame was an Academy Award–winning actress and was twice nominated. She certainly could act and was honored for it.

  • The girl in our high school play sings it Better than that.

  • She is great !!!! And I´m extra-sure the singing isn´t supposed to be beautiful :-D

  • 1:08 what hte HELL was that? Her singing sucked anyway but that was freaking SHOUTING! Were the cast and crew deaf or something?

  • This is the worst version of this song I've ever heard.

  • What if in the background you see a big F5 tornado coming at them. lol

  • she's not even opening her mouth.

How did she get the part of Annie in this awesome musical!?

So many folk would of done this part justice, it's such a good song, but this is kind of like listening to a primary school cover.

  • @laceyflower oh stop! her being amazingly stupid is the best she was tone death so they had to piece together each word...

  • Man, she shows so many emotions. So many that you can't see it.

  • Did she just get get wisdom teeth out or.... what?

  • DId she just get her wisdom out or... what?

  • why would you expect her to move around when:

    1) She looks like she's being held in by some kind of cincher.

    2) She's probably afraid her bird nest of a hat is going to fly off

It looks like she has an invisible neck brace on!

Just remember, whatever she's doing or not doing, the director wanted it that way.

  • why is she so bad?

  • Notice how she does this "eyebrow raising" thing when she says "kissing is my favorite food" LOL! THE FUNNIEST VERION OF THIS SONG!!

  • This is horrible! D:

  • How NOT to sing this song.

  • *cough* casting couch *cough*

  • DAMMIT WOMAN YOU SHATTERED MY EARS!!!!!

and also you have no emotion when you sing, your staring straight ahead with no expression on your face

  • I'm dying

  • I am currently being forced by my best friend to watch this... please for the love of god let her sing this

  • Vicki Simon who played Ado Annie in the 1998 London revival with Hugh Jackman was better!!!!

  • For all of you who have never seen a roger an hammerstine film needs to stfu I need to remind you in the day it was more then just if you could play the part but sing the part ado annie is a simple girl who thinks she has a lot to offer she just can't find the right man so she settles for mr. rightnow watch the movie plus this is a bad vid clarity suxz ballz

  • WTF is that? hahahahaha I just wanna put duct tape over her whole face....

  • Did she just get botox? Her face never moves...

  • This..is....sad.

The cast director must've been deaf

  • I'm from Oklahoma. So i've seen tons of productions of this... this is awful... plus vie heard lots of accents... and this sucks.

  • This is really bad. I know the whole point of the character is that she's a little crazy and the song is supposed to be out of tune, but this was just sad. She can't multitask. She can't sing and act at the same time. It looks like she's reading her lines.

  • OUUUUUUUCH paaaaaaainfully out of tune LOL fail

  • this is... painful she shows no emotion to the song!!

  • well she talks like she's from Oklahoma

  • She just stands there!

  • This is the original. It's supposed to sound like this. Granted, its no broadway play, but she plays Ado Annie like she's supposed to. LOVE IT. (:

  • She's trying as hard as she can to win a bet. (The bet is her best take won't involve opening her mouth)

  • she almost looks bored...

  • Why doesn't she have any emotion?

  • @Memeotter botox

  • I CAINT WATCH THIS!!!!

*flees back to the 1998 london revival one*

  • THIS SUCKS ASS.

  • My daughter's senior class did this musical last night and the girl who played Ado Annie was waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy better than this lady. geesh!

  • Uh, hypocrite. You've said no enough already!

  • i might puke.... SHE'S HORRIBLE!!!! get some voice lessons... better yet.... stop singing.... because YOU SUCK!!! (to the gal playin ado annie)

  • bad bad grapics

  • I think it's hilarious that this is the ORIGINAL, yet it seems to be everyone's least favorite version...

  • Whut you goin' to do when a feller gits flirty, and starts to talk purty?

    Whut you goin' to do?

S'posin' 'at he says 'at yer lips're like cherries, er roses, er berries?

    Whut you goin' to do?

S'posin' 'at he says 'at you're sweeter 'n cream,

And he's gotta have cream er die?

Whut you goin' to do when he talks that way,

    Spit in his eye?

  • I find it funny that this was uploaded by "AmyWinehouse4433."

  • @disarraygun :-)

  • @AmyWinehouse4433 now its not funny...

  • I'm sorry, but I like Vicki Simon more as Ado Annie.

  • 20 people can't say no ;)

  • This isn't supposed to be a "beautiful" song or singer!

She's not supposed to sound nice and lovely and perfect! She's supposed to be a flawed character, and her presentation is likewise!

  • My friend and I are singing this in Musical theater and after looking over it once we can sing it better than the girl in this video can. :P She sucks!

  • Ive seen really good people singing this song. And then ive seen really bad ones. This is one of the worst ones ive heard. She has no emotion, and it just doesn't sound right. Im sorry if i offend anyone, but this isn't the greatest.

  • @swordsgirl96 That's the point! In reality, this actress has an incredible voice. It's part of her character!

  • She is horrible as ADO ANNIE. She is too stiff and she just stands there. I just saw the stage production of OKLAHOMA at the HARTT SCHOOL OF MUSIC and the girl who played ADO ANNIE was increadably good as was the rest of the cast. The ADO ANNIE in the movies is a bad fit for the part.

  • Gloria Grahame is not a singer..and according to reports she had a hard time on the set being difficult with her fellow castmates and clashed with Fred Zinneman..also the surgery on her upper lip made her speech not as clear as it should have been..and while she may have been miscast, there is a certain charm about her that does stand out..not a great performance..but a charming one..

  • I love Gloria!! She makes the role real--not a Broadway singer dropped on the prairie as in other productions--this Ado is the real thing. don't you think R and H knew what they were doing when they cast her?

  • I was so excited about singing this song in my school play.......until I saw this.

  • My school is doing this play and i am ado annie

  • this ruins the whole song!

  • I kinda like it the way it is. She is obviously turned on by kissing and though she acts dumb and stupid, that is exactly the point, Sexually awakening, but not at the same rate as her emotional and metal maturity…… almost like a dumb blond, if one has to go there to illustrate my point.

  • not gonna lie... the acting is terrible in this. especial ado annie.

  • i like it it one of my favorate song in this show

  • This is why I think the R&H's version with Hugh Jackman is soooo much better!

  • Just needs more emotion! Bad acting in my book. "R&H's" Ado Annie is FANTASTIC! :D

  • What cha gonna do when he talks that way? Spit in his eye? HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  • she acts drunk

  • @AGPearFuzz

i totally agree with yah Peary

  • Love It !!!!!!!!!! What Fun ..Kissing .....

  • Love It. What fun!!!

  • please upload pore jud is daid

  • I saw June Schreiner at the Arena Stage production and that kind of ruined any other version for me. She's amazing!

  • Amused by the ignorance and arrogance on display in the comments here. A bunch of high school scenery chewers who think that they're better actresses than Gloria Grahame! You couldn't make it up.

  • i love everything about this musical , a true masterpiece . and if anyone thinks differently they are idiots !!!!!!!!!!

  • who plays ado annie in this movie

  • @BonJoviFan96 Gloria Grahame

  • This is a terrible performance!

  • Aw Ado Annie, you whore.

  • To the people who critiqued Ado Annies singing ability...SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO SING IT THIS WAY DUMMIES!!!!

  • @4018590 I know but that dosnt change the fact that it sounds bad!!!!

  • we r singing this in are musical and the girl who sings this at my school is WAYYY better XD

  • @sabbieM13 no shit -__- Lol nah I'm joing but yeah seriously what is going on with her mouth?

  • I read that Gloria Grahame had plastic surgery shortly before appearing in this, and that she was experiencing partial paralysis of her upper lip. She was having a lot of trouble speaking and singing because of it. Still, I think that she does a wonderful job in it. I like her.

  • We had to sing this song in a school production. It was nice.

  • The girl in my musical theater class who was assigned this for a solo was RIGHT!! This person is HORRIBLE! NO emotion or singing talent whatsoEVER!! She's a godforsaken ROBOT!!The girl in my class is SO much better!!

  • Is this a mentally retarded version of Oklahoma?

    What is this mess? Bahaha

  • This version of this song kind of kills me inside.

  • I like Gloria Grahams rendition of "I Can't Say No". She really pulls off the number convincely.

  • she seemed easy.

  • I think Gloria Grahame is fantastic as Ado Annie - if you really want to nitpick - it's Ah do Annie...they didn't know how to pronounce the drawl as it was written... She is adorable = and thanks for posting this.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed Gloria Grahame in this role. She took superb direction. Ado Annie was sweet, kind, and on disconnect.

Gloria performed in The Little Hut, (live circus in the round, and received a standing ovation).

    Favorite performance.

  • I think she's great and hilarious. Some people take acting waaaay too seriously. It's all supposed to be fun, and I think her spunk really shines in this movie.

  • I think she's great and hilarious. Some people take acting waaaay too seriously. It's all supposed to be fun, and I think her spunk really shines in this movie.

  • i love this version. she's amazing. and it's really cute. :]

  • Good song, awful rendition. She looks like her mouth is stuffed with cotton.

  • I love this version. because it makes me laugh

  • This woman is not enthusiastic enough. Lord. They TOTALLY should've gotten someone else! The song is supposed to say, "I'm a slut, and I don't care!" but, the woman singing this song is totally ruining this song! Honestly, she's not supposed to sound OR look OR EVEN MOVE like she's ashamed!

  • The squinty face and stiff movements make this terrible. The London production is TEN TIMES better.

  • Ado Annie is played by Gloria Grahame, one of the film noir greats. Check her out in The Big Heat, then in In A LOnely Place, and then watch this again. You would never know she was a comic actress from watching these other movies. She could be slinky, not and tough - you'd never know it here. Also, her voice was dubbed in for another role. She really wasn't a singer, but if you know your limits, you can work what voice you got, and she does.

  • She looks like a constipated strict teacher or librarian... you know, some one who sucks the fun out of EVERYTHING! >< This is terrible horrid acting!

A lot of amateur people who aren't that good at singing could sing this. Including MYSELF! And I’m not so good...

  • has she had a face lift and to much botox coz she shows no emotion in her face !!

  • saw this movie today on tv:)

    LOVED it

  • she actually had an amazing singing voice... i watched her in another movie where she sang a little, and i was shocked... its actresses like them that should inspire... can play ditsy whore to glamorous movie star... instead of Paris Hilton who cant really act her way out of a paper sack with the bottom ripped out...

  • This person is definitely a terrible singer, but that's the character! :) I love this part, I would LOVE to play Ado Annie someday. Except i'd sing good. Haha.

  • OMG awful. but hilarious.

  • I saw the original stage play in the summer of 1943 when I was a child and the movie a few years later when I was, naturally, a bit older. Gloria Grahame's interpretation of the role and the song seems to me to be almost the same as the original in the Broadway production. She's supposed to be an airhead! It's the character. If you don't like the character, complain to Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Oh. Wait. They're dead, aren't they? Too late to complain, I guess.

  • Oklahoma, Carousel, My Fair Lady , Guys and Dolls,West Side Story et al

From the pinacle ,there is only down hill

  • Her voice is so annoying! But the lyrics are pretty good. LOL.

  • Ado Annie is written as a naive and slightly slow teen who just recently "filled out" and is enjoying the sudden attention of boys. And this is a comic song. It SHOULDN'T be sung too well or with too much gusto. This is a good and proper interpretation, more appropriate to the character than the London cast performance that many seem to prefer if you ask me.

  • @DFDalton1962 Agreed, and an excellent explanation for the dimwits. You have more patience than I.

  • lol retard

  • @1Flubbster LOL, That's so funny. Her annoying voice. GIrls like her are annoying. But she is funny and the lyrics can make you sing along!

  • i love gloria's ado annie. 2:20-2:35 is too much! no matter what version, it's not like the character is all that deep. i think it's hysterical...

  • ok, this ado annie looks like she's 30 or 40. ado annie is supposed be a teen. this ado annie sounds really sad and this song is supposed to be uplifting

  • Uhm, wow... This is... HORRIBLE compared to the Broadway version...

What happened to her character? She's supposed to be flirty, fun-loving, and sort of... an air head. This actress not only can't sing, but she's expressionless and is slurring her words, which makes her appear painfully stupid >>

  • why is her face so stiff?? thats what im wondering

  • I love Vicki Simon! It's the contrast between her look and her character that gives the humour. We should welcome lots of different interpretations. Thanks for uploading it

  • she's the crappest singer in history! :L u sed be 'HONEST' and i have been! :L x :)

  • i dont like this version. for starters the actress seems a bit old. Ado Annie is usually a little younger than Laurey.the actress makes ado annie seem like she's stupid. also theres not a lot of reaction from Laurey.

  • she doesnt open her mouth and shes sooooo stiff

  • doesnt she look like she got botox?

  • doesnt she look like she got botox!?

  • wow u guys r stupid they told her to sing bad for the role!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • she looks really akward

  • @Loganlermanlover1 *awkward

  • Gloria Grahame was tone-deaf, she sang without dubbing in only one film, Oklahoma! (1955), where her songs were edited together from recordings made almost literally note by note.

  • Kissin's my favorite food! LOL

  • Wow, she was terrible. But I think it's because after some kind of surgery she had, and her upper lip was paralyzed.

  • @FallingKitty There are many directors who search for an Ado Annie who cannot sing... she has other talents.

  • Oooh! I love this! the story of my life!

  • she sounds menally ill.....

  • @sabbieM13 Apparently she was really self-conscious about an overbite so she used to put cotton wool in her mouth, around her lips to hide it. That's why she can't move it very much!

  • what are people talking about this should be fun loving..dont like this Ado Annie... this is the original from Oklahoma.

  • This isn't the ONLY Oklahoma, though. Maybe it's the original movie, but the stage production began long before it.

  • PLEASE Take a look a look at this video response and please comment. I really want to know what you think. BE HONEST!!! Thanks!

  • @AmyWinehouse4433 This movie I grew up with so.. Ado Annie cracked me up.(Born in 63) This is a classic, Don't ruin it

  • I hate this interpretation. Ado Annie should be fun-loving and ditsy. This is like...stupid, upset and drunk.

  • @powellpicc1985 PLEASE Take a look a look at this video response and please comment. I really want to know what you think. BE HONEST!!! Thanks!

  • @AmyWinehouse4433 yea i agree.. so boring and her voice.. so unmelodious!! never mind her personailty lol

  • @powellpicc1985 - your mama's face is stupid, upset and drunk.

  • @powellpicc1985 well i like this version but it was the first i saw. my guess is that since its a song about being a slut the filmmakers felt that she should seem upset at herself and remorsefull over her being a slut instead of proud.

  • @powellpicc1985 i agree!!

  • @powellpicc1985 100% agreed! i'm performing this song and i'm being as crazy and silly as possible.....i mean, who's really going to want to kiss this chick? she ain't no fun!!!!

  • @powellpicc1985 Yes but at the same time she is also awkward. My only problem is she doesn't move her face O.o.

  • @powellpicc1985 exactly, when i was watching this i honestly thought either her jaw was wired shut or shes mentaly slow.

  • I really don't like this Ado Annie.

  • It's called deadpan (DELIBERATELY impassive!)

  • wow....it's like a 5 year old boy trying to act....
