You could start with this and a tr-909 for bass/percussion if you can get your hands on them. They're discontinued I think. As for synths.. A PROPHET 5, ACCESS VIRUS and CLAVIA NORD LEAD are some good synths.
To most of the people who replied to MyWonderfulElectric.
Wow really, do you just try to name the big names off the top of your head as if it makes you look like you know what your talking about..
And to MyWonderfulElectric and anyone else, download some software synths and if you want a keyboard get a cheap MIDI controller, once you have a feel for what you like, consider buying an ANALOG synth, the only good reason you would buy a digital synth is latency (which you can compensate for)
No, some of us answered the question that was asked, "what king (sic) of a snyth...")
As an owner of both digital and analog synths I could just as easily recommended a MiniMoog or a Yamaha CS-50 but those are not what I would consider appropriate for a beginner. The MicroKORG on the other hand is cheap, easy to use, and very tweakable, as is the Alesis Micron.
The MicroKORG has an advantage of being battery operated like the TB303.
I also like my TR606 & TR808 but again, a little costly.
I'm in agreement, having loads of synths is great but also ties up alot of cash. I've just sold all mine on ebay and bought an Akai MPK49 controller and use Cubase SX3 with loads of plugins. I've used hardware for about 15 years but the sort of music I like now you can only do on a PC.
whe are talking here of the father of the actual house a legend rithym machine part of the history of electronic music used in the 80 for produce the bass lines of the dance and house tracks who puts the structure of the actual electronic music! a museum piece!

so cheap.. so little.. so simple, such a weak peice of CRAP SUCH A LEGEND!!!!!!!!! a testement to the underdog!!!! while it probabally wouldn't fit in my music it stands at attention in full dress alongside the arp odyssey moog mini, prophet 5, korg ms 20 and any other important synth(yes even the godzilla-like cs 80) in the synth hero hall of fame!!!!!!
This is the same machine used back in the 80's when Chicago House music was at its peak. Phuture used it in several of their tracks, I use to use this one, the Roland tr 707, the tr 727, later got an 808 and a 909. I have others now, but with my casio CZ 101 I made some nice tracks.
big up that you've got that device. thanks for sharing a presentation!
