@Vmaxidioot nah mate Bill Nagle died from an alcoholic problem. the way he died was actually really horrible, if you wanna no more read the book Shadow Divers....tis an awesome book

Diving on air is OK to about 200, below that you are dancing with death. Use mix.

My name is LLoyd Garrick, Look it up in the books. I was on the discovery trip, and only dove the U-869 a couple times after that - I wasn't involved in the researching etc all the years after that.

I used to dive on the Seeker all the time - with Chatterton and company. Those were the good old days for sure.

Wow! I just read about you in Shadow Divers! Amazing! I read the book on a recommendation from a friend. I have never been diving, but I'd love to get in to it.

So, the book posits that the UBoat was sunk by its own torpedo. Has there been any further evidence or investigation to confirm or refute this theory? Some crackpot apparently wrote a very angry book that was poorly reviewed, purporting to prove the Civil Air Patrol theory...

Has anyone been back?

People dive this every year, there are many fatalities and bends cases now. It is the edge of the envelope. The midship section / con tower is blown up - could be a self destruct charge. I don't think it is conclusive what happened. The boat was reported lost off Gibraltar, so why is it off New Jersey? Google for U-869, there is much info out there, also see Chattertons web site.
